  1. What is happening
  2. JR clearly wanted Tony
  3. I’ll take this game. Now we can see fields as the entire offense hurt by poor talent, vs games like v Houston where he was hidden. Man, that draft class now looking rough. Zach Wilson had two games straight under 110 passing yards, but didn’t hear about the national embarrassment that the jets passing game is. Funny that.
  4. “This guy is different” is apparently the latest ad nauseum slang usage in nfl media.
  5. I just remember at the time people being like “well $125 would have been ridiculous overpay” when it was like $1.25M more per year, and, as we learned, a much smaller gap than the gap in production between him and our number two FA option Dallas Keuchel. It was our last shot to use the excess budget space to allocate to a star since Hahn then after went after his comfy b/c free agent classes, covid, etc soaking it all up. Truly a devastating moment for the rebuild. Not a doubt in my mind we are in ALDS with wheeler in 2020 at least, hopefully more.
  6. He talked about the Sox signing Rizzo. Just a great, smart man.
  7. I still don’t think they do it but it’s impossible to not take seriously. You have to give it at least a 10% chance, but I’m personally at like 25% it happens
  8. Everyone at the time knew it was horrendous. And we were right. Won’t accept “who knew?!”
  9. I forgot another person I wish would go into managing: Granderson. Hes back home in Chicago now doing. Incredible charity work. Probably better for everyone that way, but damn if he returns to the game I hope it can be on the Sox.
  10. Unfortunately what I’ve learned from Hahn et al is that people don’t get better at their jobs in a JR org, so you have to assume Ozzie will return at his floor.
  11. And this is all aside from his incredible tendency to self immolate in front of the press.
  12. Lmao god this franchise
  13. I uh, would give more than a 7th, so that's why the bucs would trade with the bears. You get a receiver for cheap next year, when there are 0 wide receivers available in FA, can front load an extension before Fields is needed to be paid. OR you get a comp pick the next year to ease the pain. But there is no help in free agency next year. The receivers int he first round are all relatively small, and this team desperately needs a big bodied guy that isn't just a possession receiver.
  14. It really just seems like a free for all for the most part, and things like COVID and a lockout probably impact this team more than the ones that take control over more prescriptive tools and programs for the players to follow. Did not really have a positive view on how this group of players prepared for the year with the lockout in a year they were expected to compete for the championship. Except Cease ilysm
  15. I have my eyes on Chubb.
  16. There was an athletic article in osney(?) or whomever the Astros manager was that had Ozzie jr or whatever the other brother was yelling at everyone in the comments lol. They are the most online of baseball families.
  17. Even *I* heard things, he was telling all his friends who include quite a few former players in the area.
  18. Jeter made Arod move to 3rd. Listen roids aside it certainly is a sliding doors moment that probably leads to a WS for the sox or leads to the same situation where the strike ruins it BUT These examples are silly to me or frank seems right. Here's a fun anecdote from me interviewing lance johnson when I was 8: "Me: Why don't you learn how to fucking hit so you can provide better protection to the rest of the lineup instead of blaming the best player on the team for not giving up at bats? Johnson: Wow"
  19. I, personally, would have explored Adrian Beltre.
  20. Kevin long would be such a good hire. My god, I will take the over on every single Eloy prop next year obviously he'd get injured on day 1 if I do that but point stands.
  21. I agree, but I also think Thome would be a really good manager. I just think people keep hoping sox will feel a wakeup call to act differently and hope the manager search will be that.
