The remarkable thing to me is Butlers rebounding instincts and athleticism. He comes out of nowhere and jumps over the seven footers to get it at its highest point. His development has accelerated incredibly fast.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) That's what will happen. When the Yahoo article came out, so many people were wanting death penalty type sanctions that anything less will to those people will be an outrage. But in reality Miami has pretty much been punished by self imposing and having this drag out for two years. Other than taking some scholarships, there isn't much the NCAA can do. Well, I'm a mizzou fan, they could force us to can our coach and loose recruits. -

Iowa parties still need to approve the computer drawn redistricting, but even when they make the changes to it, I believe Iowa is still a much better example of fair redistricting than other states.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Eh. It is fun to watch in that now its all about offense and the players are overall more athletic but its tough to top the Bird vs Magic years as far as entertainment. If only they had as much exposure as the game does today, I mean back then they even aired taped delayed game. I don't know, I'd say the bird vs. magic years were much more about offense than the league today. The amazing thing about the league today is how much stars can get criticized for being BAD on defense. MJ changed that. You can't just score 30 a game, people want you to be a stopper too.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) I don't know how you ultimately fix gerrymandering, but giving it an even higher incentive sure as hell isn't the way. Doesn't Iowa have a pretty good re-destricting plan that is outsourced to a place that tries to do it based off of numbers and geography?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) So the NCAA f***ed up the Miami investigation through improperly hiring Shapiro's lawyer and illegally interviewing witnesses. Awesome work guys. this is the most ridiculous thing ever. I feel like the internal probe and delay will last forever, and then they will just silently kill the case when people aren't talking about it anymore. -
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) I get it that the Pelican is the state bird and all, but to me that name is awful. I think Rougarou, Swamp Dogs and Bullsharks all would be better names. Rougarou would have been my choice. I love it. If it was 80 years old you wouldn't think twice. We'll be calling them the pel's or something soon and all will be forgotten. I mean, pittsburgh penguins is a beloved mascot, could you imagine if that was chosen now? BUt it's great and simple.

the entire midwest right now I can't think of a fun team to watch.

The hawks beating STL is a bigger gift to me than beating DET. STL fans, how I hate thee.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) F*** Kirk Hinrich "Hey I'm goingn to dribble back and forth for 16 seconds and then make an obvious pass leading to a contested shot around the expiration of the shot clock" FIFY

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) Yep, Kellen Davis was every bit as horrible this year as we believed him to be. PFF TE Drop Rate. Most useless player I've ever seen. I actually can't believe that was all that he dropped. Every one of those was for crucial first downs it felt like. 19 catches from a TE...ridiculous.
-
Hinrich is still good defensively, and our 2nd unit has really thrived in being a stifling D unit. I just hate the flow of the offense with him. Honestly, I don't see the difference between hinrich at the top of the key and noah. You know both are just looking to pass.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) Who replaces him? He's been really popular around campus also. Does the standard Buffalo Wild Wings weekly interview, always comes and talks with students during ticket lines, emails students frequently. I hear he's a really nice interview. I think Haith's done a great job. This group hasn't played together until this year and while not a top tier team they will definitely be a tourney team. He found great transfers to put the team in good shape after a huge senior class left the program vulnerable to rebulding, and has nice classes coming in after. Whatever happens, I hope the NCAA acts quickly. This s*** ruined our program in the early 00s (which ended up not charging anything iirc), and could do the same again. This has been a horrid past 12 months as a mizzou fan.

So I guess the benching for noah was due to him spouting off and Thibs benching him. Noah apologized. I think one of the reasons Thibideau is such a well-liked coach despite his demanding style is he will never speak ill of a player to the media. They know he won't sell them out. You have to respect the hell out of thibs for this year. We looked so awful to start the season, and he coached these scrubs into shape quick.

Does anyone have a nice resource for how to block images, so I don't have to worry about some of these more work inappropriate avatars?

Reading the signal and the noise. Annoyed when Silver brags about the 2007 white sox prediction.
-
Well color me pissed. I was at the game and when Memphis fell behind, Randolph and Gasol had no problem pounding the glass and shooting over the smaller backcourt. Also, Jimmy Butler played a great game Saturday, and has had a great week. But, man I can't wait until I never have to see Hinrich and Robinson as the backcourt to win us the game, again.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) I highly doubt anything will. Noah has fallen in love with taking the open, 18-foot jumper, because it's always open, because he's not very good at it. He was hitting that shot earlier in the season, but it's been brutal the past month. I reckon Thibs said "stop it", and he did it, and he got his ass benched. He's shooting 39% this month (unacceptable for a big man) and only 46% on the season (5% lower than his career average, and 8% lower than two years ago). Hopefully Noah stops taking those shots and continues to move the ball vs chucking them up just because he's open. That's my guess. I find that hard to believe with all the stupid shots some of our players put up, Thibs would make an example of Noah, who would've been very helpful preventing the Randolph tip-ins that allowed them back in it.
-
Has anything come out about Noah and Thibs yet?
-
Pollard also helmet-to-helmet hit welker earlier in the game.
-
Ugh, would not be excited if I was a jags fan with this staff so far.

He lost all credibility to me with this stunt. An untelevised interview on Friday night? That's what we call a media dump. Guys an asshole. -
