Google Generation
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/art...ity-skills.html Perhaps it's my old ass 30 years on this planet, but I totally get his point. I think the internet/google is an amazing tool that is making people smarter (no more need to debate over certain facts, just look them up instantly on your phone). But on the other hand, kids/people look stuff up on the internet instead of thinking for themselves or creating something for themselves. Thoughts? Unsurprisingly it's an article not backed up with anything remotely objective or scientific, and just about how an old person thinks this next generation has it too easy.

Too 'irresistibly attractive'
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) Better to get rid of her than have her deal with sexual harassment because he's unprofessional/a perv. He's pretty lucky he didn't get countersued with sexual harrassment, and not discrimination. The texts and comments were absurd.

2012 TV Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) I thought The League took a pretty huge step backwards this season. The shows premised on dudes arguing gets pretty old after a while, and it seems like they try to compensate by leading their plots into the absurd. With Sunny, 3 out of every 5 scenes, and sometimes whole episodes, come off as bad sketch comedy.

Finding a GP in Chicago
So, I never had a "doctor" growing up. My mom always took me around to different clinics. I also rarely was sick. The consequence is now I have no idea where to go when I need a GP and dread dealing with it. Last year I just randomly chose two GPs based off location in my insurance web site, and they were dreadful experiences. Does anyone know a good network to look into? All of my friends still go home to their docs and that's too far for me. Any help appreciated.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) It was true. Thought Dykes might fellate him. Maybe then he could have hit something. It's a nationally televised game. They aren't just televising for the fans of the team they are introducing viewers to the teams and their top players. Pressey is clearly a top pg in nation so they are going to focus on him. He was able to dribble through your double teams and when a player is slashing to the hoop you are going to draw help. He also was great on Paul in the second half. Pressey has always shot too much, but all you need is to check out what happened when he left for the bench to see his value on mizzou even on a bad night.

Official Recruiting Thread II
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) His profession is basketball, not engineering though. He is going to Duke to hone his craft to improve his chances in the NBA, which forces him to attend college for at least one year. Read the SI article about his recruitment. It was all about the basketball coaches, not philosphy professors. If it was truly about academics, MSU & Florida would have never made a list with Duke/Stanford. (And this is not a criticism of Parker, this is the correct thought process IMO.) It's the same principle. Just because he's going to leave early doesn't mean he won't care about the education there.

Official Recruiting Thread II
How would you know what's in his head? How do you know he's not going to keep a relationship with the school and graduate at a later time? When an engineer leaves school early to start a business nobody claims he doesn't care about an education. There is still a lot to be learned in 1-2 years of college, and going to a program that demands performance in academics may well have been important to him. This kid is poised to make millions in the NBA and risks it all by going to play for college, and yet instead of going to Kentucky or Florida, he entertained some very good academic schools for athletes. It is a ridiculous statement that you don't have much to back up.

Time to revisit the 2nd Amendment?
I wish I could find the absurdity funny, but I'm realizing how f***ed we are to do anything when they are this far apart.

Official Recruiting Thread II
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 12:22 AM) It's hard to believe that "education" matters to a kid who probably won't stay in college longer than a year or two. This is a really ridiculous statement.

Time to revisit the 2nd Amendment?
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) It doesn't, but I would be shocked if a ban on X type of gun would be constitutional. Limiting magazine sizes maybe. But something like banning handguns or banning assault weapons won't happen given the standard those laws have to abide by. Yeah, definitely seems like something that needs clarification from the court. We'll probably have an answer in the next 2 years.

Time to revisit the 2nd Amendment?
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) Other countries don't have that pesky f***ing Bill of Rights to contend with...if only we could just do away with it! I'm not convinced that Heller prevents meaningful regulation.

Time to revisit the 2nd Amendment?
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Too late. I didn't grow up around guns either, I lived in Cook County until I was 18 (and now I'm back... seriously, what the f***?). But I'm glad the gun grabbers all rejoiced at your post even if it was just meaningless platitudes. What do you want to do about it then? How are you going to rectify your first point with your second? The solution for a long, long time has been, more or less, that if you want a gun go get one and if you dont want to be armed you dont have to. How are you going to expand on that? Be careful, your gun grabbing friends who worship at the altar of the federal government are relying on you to come up with something here. Wouldn't want to let them down. And what a solution it has been! Clearly, there are no examples in the world of gun laws in other countries that has led to lower gun violence. We can only compare things to alcohol and drunk driving, which liberals wouldn't want to curb because they drink and are lazy. Meanwhile conservatives don't want to regulate law abiding citizens, except gays and women.

I have 20 more minutes to believe in the possibility he chooses mizzou as a darkhorse. What a wonderful 20 minutes it will be.
