QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Since leaving Chicago I have lived near DC and Cincinnati, and I do root for those teams, though the Sox are still far and away my favorite team. It's easier though since those teams are NL teams. I don't think I'd root for another AL team, and definitely not another AL Central team. I think one of the reasons the Cubs get the majority of the transplant fans is that a lot of them are coming to Chicago from other AL Central areas, especially Michigan, so they adopt the Cubs as their favorite Chicago team since it doesn't conflict with their home team. Sorry, let me clarify. If I were to leave Chicago, I wouldn't stop rooting for the White Sox. The team of your childhood is always more special.

NVM it's on ESPN3. Super pumped. Excited to see Keion Bell and Oriakhi in action.

this is a complete shot in the dark: Does anyone know if fox midwest sports channel is the same as something that would be int his sports package: Fox College Sports Access to three Fox regional channels: Atlantic, Central and Pacific. Up to 150 college football games and 500 men’s and women’s basketball games every year. ??? I can figure this out at home in 60 minutes, but just wondering. I want to catch Mizzou tonight.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) One of my best nights ever was at a semi-formal in college where the bar had $1 draft specials but I noticed that they had a special on Pumking Ale 24oz bottles for only $2.50. That's an 8.6% beer, so I went and got one, slugged it down and all my friends were asking what I was drinking. Soon enough about 10 of my buddies had bought it, but hated the taste (it's pretty intense, and college kids just want light beers), so I ended up buying most of them from them (some drank like half the bottle). I think when it was all said and done I had close to 6 full bottles, for about $15. It was a fantastic, drunk night for me. I do not think I could handle that much pumpkin ale in a night.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 05:47 PM) Right now it's not looking too good for mittens. Trails by a couple points in a bunch of states he needs to win. But is leading by a point nationally. I don't believe this will be a pop vote diff. than state vote election. So either the state polls or the national polls are wrong. Typically it's the national, but I think it's closer for Romney than the state polls indicate.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) The main reason I hate Twins, Tigers and Indians "fans" - many of them live in Chicago, because they abandoned their cities years ago. They attend games at The Cell to root for "THEIR TEAMS". You know, the ones who play for the cities they abandoned to come live in a real one. I loved seeing the various 40 year old female "chicagoans" with their brand spankin' new Tigers hats on the train the last two weeks. So yeah, f*** the other teams in the AL Central. And f*** fake Chicagoans. If I were to leave Chicago for a job elsewhere, I would not root for that new team's city.

Las Foremost on Milwaukee and California just got a shipment of Bourbon County from Goose Island. It's one of the best stouts there is. I grabbed a 4-pack, btu it's very expensive now, and frankly their manufactured shortages are getting ridiculous.

One thing about the Bears game. When we were still out of sync in the 3Q, we should have absolutely gone into a no huddle. It was so bad that even when we got a pass off, the receivers were dropping it. After a few completions everything was back to normal.

Stay safe, new jerseyers. Rex is from there correct? Hopefully he evac'd.

That may be because my poll question had more to's than it needed.

Here's a pretty basic article on it written by a college student: http://dailynorthwestern.com/2012/10/26/ci...onal-amendment/

Wondering where people stand. I'm on the fence. I think it's not a bad move for now. Pensions for years were the go-to to kick the can and make the current fiscal situation look better. Instead of increasing salaries for public workers they'd increase pensions. This would be a step in the right direction in making that kicking the can more of a poison pill. However, I think California is a good example of how increasing vote thresholds can lead to disaster. Majority rules often works, is it worth making a constitutional amendment on something that's an experiment? What if it's a disaster? Removing an amendment takes a lot of work, and the language of this is so simple, that if it turns out to be poor policy, any opposition to it will come with the political hammer of "so and so wants to change the constitution to make it easier for government bUREAUCRATS to take more of your money for their pensions" Just my thoughts. Wanna hear yours.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) he's actually been going in the other direction. He's climbing towards 80% chance of an Obama win even as the polls tighten (as do entities like intrade which has had Obama's odds going down). And as far as the margin of error, if you include that padding, I have correctly picked every state in every presidential election for the past 16 years In 2010 Silver had a 70% change that the GOP would gain less than 60 House Seats. They got 64. In 2012 it looks like he will be at a 75% chance of an Obama win. If he's wrong again, of course it's statistically possibly that he has a great system but had the bad luck of hitting the 30% in 2010 and the 25% in 2012. Or maybe he's just not that good. To me, he seems kind of like a Hawk Harrelson to Democrats. They want a homer rooting for their guy and putting out numbers that make them feel good. Ah, yes, intrade, where a romney supporter just put a huge bet for romney in order to make Obama's adds go down just as Romney camp has made their push to make people believe they are ahead (old Karl Rove trick). Excellent example of good oddsmaking.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) Bet you cant beat our 59 healthy players. I'm not sure the total numbers, but being out our QB, RB, 3 olineman, MLB, DE OLB that were starters is what kind of crushed us. We're pretty young after the starters. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) I know there are Missouri fans here, so I thought I'd pass along that down here there are a lot of people thinking that Kentucky wins tomorrow. I'm thinking they need to stick to basketball, but then I haven't seen either team play this year. Well, with as many injuries as we have right now, anything is possible. -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) House of Rep races can be tough to predict. Also, he doesn't poll. He just averages polls and looks into their worth. off year races feature much, much, much less polls and also much harder to predict voter pools.

Now that tickets are lower, what would you do to IMPROVE THE SOX EXPER

I don't think our Ballpark is a problem anymore. It facing the skyline would certainly have been a better idea. -

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) I have Obama winning it and taking OH, PA, IA, WI, NH and MI of the above choices. The popular vote will be very, very close, but Obama will win. Like many have said, whoever wins Ohio is taking this election. I think Obama will win with ohio. But of the options, he'll only get OH and IA. Just scraping by 270. I am not even sure he wins popular vote.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) A blockbuster trade just went down in the league im in: Aaron Rodgers and Michael Turner For Rapistburgers, doug martin and CJ0K. Great now the guy im facing this week went from having no chance, to being able to beat me... Wow, judging from these it looks like CJ just surged in value. Maybe I should try to dump him for a better qb? (I have Vick and Flacco)
