  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) SC looked like garbage. Defensively they are athletic but undisciplined and the play calling was suspect. I thought Lattimore looked good, but I was worried when he reached down for his knee a few times, maybe thats why they decided not to run him more? If he's 100% like they claim there was literally no reason to ever throw the ball and they probably blow Vandy out. To be fair, that can be expected in week 1. That's why I don't see the reason to ever play a legit team that first week.
  2. I need to stock up on antacids.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) ugh indeed. But I understand, Portman would be struggling if she had to pay taxes on the $30,000 dress she was gifted. Our society is so dumb sometimes. Oh no! I have to pay for my dress like a peasant?
  4. "Natalie Portman's Wedding Dress Tax Dodge: "Natalie Portman's awkward, unflattering $30,000 Rodarte wedding dress was a fashion bomb, but financially it's a hit! Since the pricey gown was a gift from the label, the Black Swan bride worried she'd be paying hefty taxes on the dress. But Rodarte, who is keen to make Natalie the brand's new face, declared the dress on loan 'indefinitely,' meaning Nat wouldn't be on the hook for an enormous tax bill." ugh.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) If you haven't seen it, check out some of the sparring that Robin and others at Crooked Timber did with some of the Bleeding Heart Libertarians over workplace coercion. There's a pretty big rabbit hole of links and posts to follow, but there's a lot of good reading. I have an auction draft i'm preparing for tonight.
  6. My fiancee went to vanderbilt. I root for them to do well when they aren't playing mizzou.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Here's a timely piece! http://coreyrobin.com/2012/08/30/were-goin...-their-ass-off/ Thanks for posting.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) I agree fully. Now stop blaming people for doing things that are perfectly legal, which you, yourself, partake in, because you don't like them. This countries biggest problem right now is that everyone thinks they are owed something, but they don't owe anything to anyone else. It is everyone else who owes. This country has set up an unsustainable spending structure. Taxing everyone above yourself isn't going to fix that problem. You know, I agree. We need to re-establish that these public goods are worth paying for. Nobody was paying for anything from 2000-2007 in a gov't or private sense. But on the national level I think our public programs are strong and worth paying for. I want to pay for them! However, revenue needs to be raised, and for the past 30 years if the wealthy have gotten good at doing anything it's not paying taxes. So we need to simplify that tax code to ensure they are at least paying something around 30%.
  9. Really pleased with Madden. Game surpassed expectations.
  10. This paragraph: http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2012/0..._cold_war_.html
  11. Did anyone else read chris hayes book?
  12. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) Missouri, I know you can do better than this... Oh, and trash talking about a 1960s football game against Florida? Hahaha. This video is excellent. PLEASE PLEASE SHOW US MERCY and never bring this up again.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) Absolutely. With a good announcer you can learn something new or insightful daily. bulls***.
  14. Why should we eliminate any ability to determine whether you are teaching your kids anything?
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) I'm not looking for a WWF style announcer to entertain me with catchphrases. Why not? At this point, knowledge of the game is easy to obtain. Everyone here at the board, is there ANYTHING an announcer could tell you we don't already know about the game of baseball? I'll take the kitsch.
  16. I want to say this about Scal, and I truly believe it. That dude was a much better bball player than people give him credit for.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) A quick googling seems to indicate that a couple of women in the ad are registered Democrats, which, without some additional information, isn't a problem at all. The whole point is that they used to be Republicans but now aren't. This still doesn't compare to the welfare work requirements blatant and complete lie that the Romney campaign has been running with for weeks now. everything is equal.
  18. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) yep kind of like me hogging up as many RBs as i could in my fantasy league #GMoftheyear I do this every year and always pick the wrong ones.
  19. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) I was nervous as well, but I'll be honest, I've noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever. I miss my 4.65% Interest rate though. Cool, so all actually people I've spoken to have noticed no difference. Online reviews are polarized, I think i'm going to set it up tonight.
  20. I like him even more that I'm older. There are so many games to watch, but I really get a kick out of the s*** he says. He's so damn sincere all the time. He really MEANT it that andy gonzalez could be special! I love making fun of the guy. I love when a big play happens, I replay it over and over and laugh my ass off. It might not be what I'd say I'd want if I were to choose a broadcaster, but he's mine and i can't help but love the guy. Hatelove. DROP THE BALL
  21. i bought madden for the first time in 13 years because i heard some physics engine was developed. I guess not. I didn't even know what it meant, but physics is awesome, so... damn it.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) Signing Flynn to that deal is like us signing Teahen to the deal we signed him to. It stinks, you have to give him a shot, but it won't truly bog you down. Just can't have a bunch of deals like that. Scrap heap acquisitions can ease all those ills. I think realistically he's a good trade option if another team gets in trouble at QB.
  23. Was about to start a savings acct with ING Direct but reviews since capitalone merger have been hammering it. I'm still leaning toward it, because it still has no fees on anything and the best tools for getting your money (ALLY still has no mobile app), but I am nervous. Anyone have ING notice any differences?
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) Columbia is going to be absolutely f***ing rocking for that one. If they can't win that one, it's going to be a long year I think. I don't think this game means that much. We have a lot of new pieces on the Oline, WR, and RB, it might take a bit. But I'm excited for our Dline.
  25. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) I really hope yall beat UGA. Such an unbearably pompous fan base considering they've never won anything. Of course, living in Atlanta and listening to sports talk here has increased my Georgia hatred a lot. Also, this year they have the easiest schedule in the history of the SEC, which means it's very likely they'll win the SEC East. Well, me too. But you never know what team shows up in week 2.
