  1. since 2006 we've had a 100 mill payroll and since 2006 have been in one of the weaker divisions. And we have 1 division title to show for it. If we don't make it into the playoffs next year, JR should start looking at the idiotic holes KW places on this ball club for a manager who seems to think it makes his team better.
  2. progressive base wouldn't stand for that.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) This sounds like me. I have nothing against other styles, many can be very well done. But a loaded Chicago Style Pizza, correctly done, that's about the top of my list. This is the thing, for my money nobody has better sauces then the chicago joins, and nobody offers the sheer overload of wonderful ingredients and meats, all mixing and complimenting so well together.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Deep dish pizza was lasagna with a pizza crust after-taste. I'd rather make my own pizza at home, St Louis style. ahh, velveeta on a baseball card, I'm glad I know not to listen to your food opinions anymore. Emos is atrocious.
  5. perhaps one side believes we shouldn't vilify muslims for merely being muslim.
  6. It's 5:30, i'm about to begin. http://www.maria-brazil.org/brazilian_strogonoff.htm http://www.cookbrazil.com/vinaigrette.htm + 2 bottles of wine, in case the food sucks (but it wont!) I don't have nutmeg, nor peppers, but f-all, i'm gonna make a champion.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I agree. I also blame politics becoming a team sport with us versus them loyalties to political parties. It really hit home when I was teaching Washington's farewell address. Everything he predicted about political parties came true. hmmm...when I read washington's farewell address it kind of comes across as not so much political parties are bad as much as...that other political party is bad.
  8. why do you need ice for the sidewalk.
  9. all the deep dish hate is srsly pissin me off.
  10. holy s***! only 2 million?
  11. i thought it was these casual dining places that were hurting the most
  12. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) oh yeah... I also hate Twitter and its effect on Modern America. thread is full of taking the lowest common denominator and proposing it as the sole virtue. twitter is fantastic.
  13. I've lived in multiple places and wanna go with/wanna come with is said in every one.
  14. I just have to say I completely disagree with all of your opinions and you should consider changing them. I don't like how much beer costs at North Ave. Beach.
  15. But the media looks so cool at the WHCD! They bring celebrities cause they are really hip!
  16. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Quite frankly, I don't give a rats as* what Bill in Baltimore thinks about the economy. But then neither will anyone else. There's no obligation to read what everyone is publishing. The potential of the internet is the true "marketplace of ideas". I, personally, think the analysis and dynamic writing of the blogosphere will provide as good of journalism as newspapers did. The reaction of "I just want to know what happened, not to know what to think" perspective is strange, arguments and analysis are just as important to look at with critical thinking as normal reports. And so we also get these fascinating debates, such as what happened with Manzi (which i will look for the link), where a bit of analysis led across a huge debate across many blogs. No one person was right, and it's up to critical thinking to decide your own views. BUt, if not for blogs and Harper's, who the hell would be covering the gitmo suicides? No network or anyone is covering it. Edit: It looks like sullivan had a pretty good link to 4 peoples reactions in the debate here: Chait v. Manzi It was an analysis of whether social democracies in Europe came at the cost of a share in world economic power.
  17. You know, the mariners had pretty great pitching and defense last year, and they didnt win a ring. you know why? Their offense is attrocious. WORSE THAN OURS EVEN! (amazing!)
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) It's a bit scary that this organization has embraced the concept of entering almost every season with a gaping hole in their lineup. A hole that's going to have to be fixed eventually, and will cost this team games. Why go into the season with a full lineup when you can go in with a partial one, possibly lose good prospects at the deadline to make up for your mistake, when you could have just signed a guy for 2 mill. in the offseason? I mean, why? This is such a better plan! Thanks ozzie
  19. I'm not just going to blame the internet. Look at the WaPo editorial page.
  20. My support for the public option was pragmatic. Cost of health insurance needed to have downward pressure, a public option could do this. It would also allow affordable insurance to go along with the mandate. And further, though i dont give a damn if AETNA burns to the ground, most every country that has this type of reform still has private insurance. BUt nonetheless, this bill did a helll of a lot to make more affordable individual insurance, which would make it a hell of a lot easier to start your own business or move from a job without worrying about health care. It also did a lot to cover many americans, and also did as much as it was possible to start controlling costs. But please, continue to bankrupt us, baby boomers, you've proven to be such a forward-looking generation. Thank you soooo much.
  21. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Kotsay has the contact skills and glove that Thome simply doesn't have. It's time to say goodbye the all-or-nothing power and walks that just set up a double play for the next hitter. Uhhh, then you replace the next hitter, not the guy that gets on base.
  22. By the way this is the stupidest off-season since 2007. Pray we dont get the same result.
  23. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Kotsay @ 34>>>>>>>>>Thome @ 39/40 and its not even close in my opinion yeah, even in age kotsay puts up lower numbers.
  24. i woke up late today, and I haev to imagine its due to the heaviness of the stupid health care debate and this stupid ruling. If only the government could take away money from rich people and put it into coin form and throw them at me to wake me up
  25. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 05:19 AM) Because a corporation is an artificial entity to begin with there need to be some limitations on this... I'd feel a lot better if Congress passed some kind of legislation (they won't). But, technically doesnt this say they can't pass legislation? DO we need a constitutional amendment?
