QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 12:18 AM) what?!?!?! Marlon Byrd 3 yrs/15Mil > Matt Holliday 7 years/120 mil. Just ask Hendry I'm just kind of making this comment as an aside, but before 2008, the tigers made a bunch of crazy deals and were assured to win the central. And yeah. BUT, the cardinals seem to annually OVERachieve. Yes, they have the greatest player in baseball, but man, every year since 2004 I've pretty much looked at their roster and been like, meh. And they just compete like hell.

Failed terrorist attack in Detroit
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Do you know for sure they didn't? i mean i guess it depends if there was a bomb going off and jack bauer was there ohmegods Since those policies by most all sources are said to have been effectively ended since 2003, I would say yes I can speak confidently they were not.

Failed terrorist attack in Detroit
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Adding yet another point to the "we got very lucky" column about this incident... the bomber apparently provided "actionable intelligence" in the hours after his arrest. Thank god we tortured him then! Thats the only way to get things out of these dudes!

You know what I'd like to find out? How much money in sponsorships Arod actually makes in NY as opposed to other cities. I ask this, because after having lived there, I really don't think many other cities can match the sort of bats*** crazy love affair cardinals fans have for their players and legends. They have like dozens of restaurants owned by former players, and they are all like, really successful. While new york is huge and the biggest media market, I do wonder how much more it is in out-of-salary income in NY than in STL. STL also would be much cheaper to live, although in the opinion of an outsider, a much less exciting place to live. In the opinion of a native, "the greatest place in the world and no other place beside it even exists and the rams are actually a good football team GO WARNER oh my God Albert, CARDS budweiser."

Baseball America Top Ten Prospects
I don't really get this, with the way rogers writes, I feel like this is them just trying to guess the white sox "board", not going off their own preferences.

The Alex Rios Mystery
and, when Wise is batting, I imagine the runs saved is negated, amirite fans? Go sox.

Per TSN White Sox have #3 rotation in MLB
the amount of failed formulas rogers has created his just lol-worthy.

And again, unearned runs are more common in the infield than outfield. You have to be straight up Soriano awful to accumulate errors in the outfield. Did we have a lot of mistakes with the Fields-Ramirez-Getz lineup, yes, that led to a lot of noticeable runs given up that shouldn't have. BUt our outfield doesnt get errors for not being able to make a play they should. Dye can run about 5 ft. in front of him before a ducksnort lands. Pods runs like a deer in the headlights, and Quentins foot prevented him from getting to balls as well. So, I'd say OF defense was definitely a problem. Just because they don't get unearned runs attributed to them often doesnt mean they were good or even average.

I'm starting to burp up puke remembering that trio playing defense. And then straight up puking remembering our good defensive outfielders offense.

Really hope the KHL doesn't grab Kovalchuk.

The Alex Rios Mystery
Chris if you could tell me how Dye, Podsednik and Quentin were not a bad defensive outfield trio, I'll concede the point.
-
The Alex Rios Mystery
yeah but that also doesn't give any reason to just ignorantly throw it out as your best insult at a player you don't like.

Rios a PED-head... huh. Typically I don't pick out slender sub-25 HR hitting players as PED-heads.

2005 Sox Best World Series Team of the Decade?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) I dont think you can call a team with AJ, Everett, and even Rowand boring. People find interesting what the media hypes up. None of these players play for boston or NY, nor nationally followed teams like the cardinals/cubs/dodgers.

2005 Sox Best World Series Team of the Decade?
People generally find the 2005 white sox to be the most boring W.S. winner of the decade.

Healthcare reform
first it was the length of a preliminary bill, and the CBO score, then the good CBO score was cooking the books, then it was the length of the bill, then it was that the bill was rushed.

Top 10 Sox Moments of the Decade
I want to say that was his worst slump but he's certainly given us a lot of options to choose from. Seemed until about 2005 i guess that he couldn't put a full season together.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Like? 1/6th of the economy. Nice try.... Are you familiar with how medicare was passed? Social Security? Were you around for them? Many agendas that have affected the country's government, business sector and people have been passed much faster than what will effectively be 3 congressional sessions, and that's if you don't count the debate that ensued during the Presidential election, or the debate 40 years before that. For instance, the patriot act passed in a single congressional session, in fact it passed in about a month. The debate has been long and varied, and has ended up at this bill. Yes, there are reasons to try and finish up legislation before a session ends, especially since apparently the senate can only work on one item at a time, they still need to tackle all the bills that have passed the house. And if you are wondering why this has to be done now, for one it's because a lot of these issues have been punted on for 20 years, and it's time they be addressed.
