i'm not sure what that changes.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) i agree. there are other artists that accomplish the same thing, but produce better songs... dennison witmer would be my first choice. I agree, i listened to O because everyone said it was his best, but i can only handle so many new folk or whatevery you wanna call it, and i'd rather just listen to Elliot Smith, Jose gonzales and mountain goats.

agh, what a difference a year makes... last year: "we have all our starters locked up for like, ever! ANd all we have to worry about is crede" this year: "PANIC!!!!"

I want to say elliot smith. But, i mean i don't think he had anymore epic albums ahead of him like the buckley's or curtis did. and...SRV probably had some kick ass stuff ahead of him.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) as musicians give me a break. U2 hasn't put out an album that means anything since achtung, baby.

QUOTE(shipps @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 05:10 AM) Really this shouldnt be in green.Im not big into hip-hop anymore but he was probably the best ever.He was one of the very few rappers I would consider really talented. i don't know the last album he made wasn't very good. Ready to Die was awesome though. I think he'd exhausted his creativity personally, and if he continued to use puffy to produce it would have gotten even worse.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) If they trade Dye, I will dye. i'm posting so hard.

Tim Buckley was far more prolific as well, releasing several albums before his death at 27, whilst jeff successfully finished only grace, and died while making his second album. Grace was amazing, though.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) The average US company doesn't ask the Feds to use tax money to feed the poor, THEN find ways to lower their taxes. If Bono wants to feed all the starving Ugandians, he should use his own tax savings to pay for it and quit trying to use MY tax money to do it (or Englands,in this case). When corporations standup for a cause, they front their own money for it, and then ask others for donations. Not the government for tax money. Um, companies don't ask the gov't for policies to help their agendas and then find ways to get around their responsibilities such as taxpaying?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 21, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Nick Drake and Terry Kath are my dark horse choices, but I'll also throw Jimi in there. I think Jimi was heading off into amazing new directions so as not too be doing the Experience retread thing past its time. I don't know that the new stuff would have carried most of the fans of the earlier stuff with it, but the same can be said for theBand of Gypsies material and some of that stuff has withstood the test of time musically and socially better than a lot of the Experience stuff. Yes on Jimi. I think he never actually discovered his sound, which is terrible in its unfulfillment. I think both the Buckleys were terrible losses. As well as Ian Curtis, if only so he could be around to be embarrassed about what its created. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 04:46 AM) First good thought to come to my mind is Brian Jones. great one.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) How do you get the acting doesnt look great from a trailer? Or is it because there are no real big names in the movie? The way lines were delivered in the trailor just looked like it was gonna be bad acting to me.
-
the critic made me laugh, though
-
aesthetically it looked like it has some good ideas. It looks fragile though, i think it could be overdone/ the acting doesn't look great. Ilove sparta stories though so i'll go

i liked when ryan throws eggs at the building who dismissed him.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) As the homeless guy said when I asked if he wanted a beer: "yes!" Desmond as Jesus was something I thought about. I also thought that he might really be dead. He doesn't talk with anyone other than Hurley, who is known to 'see' people that aren't really there. But that doesn't really jive with Ecko and Locke getting out alive too. this was also something that was talked about 'round the water cooler/keg.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) Desmond=Jesus? haha, we said the same thing. Damn, did kate look good with that makeup on in the airport or what?

you are suprised that on an island that cures cancer and paralyzation, still is the habitat of polar bears, etc, has mysterious black smoke that grabs people, that people could survive being blown out of a hatch... i'm suprised that is the straw that broke the camels back.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Jay is an incredibly talented writer who has every right to voice his opinion. But what troubles me and why I dislike him is his hypocrisy. Plain and simple. To me you cannot be taken seriously or be trusted as a newspaper man if you are a hypocrite. It's a trait he exposes quite often. Plus, he cannot compare himself to Roger Ebert. Ebert does meet with producers, actors, directors all the time. He goes to film festivals and, most importantly, he LOVES movies. Jay has a true hatred for the sports he covers. plus ebert is incredibly tactful in identifying what he found particularly offensive/brilliant in the movie, to let the reader decide if that is something he would like to see/doesn't mind. Most of the people who say "if ebert panned it it must be good" are not only stupid but probably didn't read his review.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) two new beach characters will be introduced tonight as well. nikki and paulo. that'll be weird to have extras all the sudden be covered.

they took our football away in elementary school. So we played imaginary football. The amazing thing is there was like no arguments about what happened. If someone called an interception its the way it was.
