QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Who cares about lyrics, most rock bands don't have s*** to say anyway. That doesn't take away from his singing ability. I care about lyrics. There are loads of great songwriters, a band with terrible songwriting can completely take me out of their music. i.e. coldplay, muse. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) My official Summer 2006 song is Junior Senior - Happy Rap from the domestically unreleased brilliant album Hey Hey My My Yo Yo right on, the bass from "We R the Handclaps" is so brilliant. So many fun songs on there.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 16, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) Yes because telling all of us how corrupt the US Govt and structure is, more than 5 times, is a surefire sign of musical ambition and talent. i'd rather hear lyrics about that then cornells b****ing and whining that is done a lot better by more quality song writers than himself.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) brilliantly written. please tell me you are joking...

i think cornell has wasted the talent of morello and wasted one of the most fun political bands of the 90s...horrible mistake.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 15, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) and you'll never get them back. haha, deploderer you're awesome.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) You must be a glutton for punishment. I think Mark is way past his prime, they were great in the early 80's around the time of Grotesque and Hex Enduction Hour but they're a bit long in the tooth nowadays. Fall Heads roll wasn't bad at all, late nineties were horribly rouhg....but the 00's haven't been bad. Plus infotainment scandal was relaly good... I want to see MES before its all over...and i liked fall heads roll so i think this tour will be fun. Despite the rest of the band leaving it'll still be a sight to see MES.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) "Yeah, man, f*** those Icelandic freaks who don't play formulaic rock and roll that's been beat into the ground for the past decade." Yep, that's exactly what I meant. A lot of people have that opinion about him, big deal, he's a critic. It doesn't mean he's always wrong. People will love him when they agree with him and call him a moron when they don't. well, it certainly came across that way. >how come people don't talk this way about Greg Kott then. They both work together on Sound Opinions, yet people's opinions of kott are usually they think he's great or a far more gentler dislike. The reason being Kotts write ups are far more thoughtful and less reactionary then Derogatis...and he has a greater ability to write about more genres then Jim D. is anyone gonna try and see The Fall 5/30

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:19 AM) I'm still waiting to hear a good original tune. don't be silly, sirs.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:15 AM) I hate to be lazy about this, but I'm probably going to watch the movie before I start reading the book. It's too like to get it done in time for me anyways. Plus I really want to see the movie. honestly, imo, if you see the movie and its good, don't read the book. Dan Brown is a terrible writer.

reminds me of Bush's "where are the WMDs" jokes.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ May 15, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) of the new songs I think arpeggi and nude are the best, while bodysnatchers is sounding great to me 15 step sounds a little sloppy at the beginning, then it really picks up the first bootlegs of 15 step...especially the first show...i was laughing at how bad it was...but then the next few really impressed me. I agree, i thought the orchestral arpeggi was a little cheesy, but the full band with the drums is really great. And big ideas has always been a fav. of mine. Bodysnatchers i'm iffy on.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ May 15, 2006 -> 03:27 AM) I can deal with them, but I don't see the fascination. It's mind boggling that some people call them music geniuses. considering OK Computer and their completion of the most successful merger of electronic and pop with Kid A i don't think its mind boggling at all.How many good radiohead covers do you hear? QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) I think it's pretty damn obvious what Javier's problem was yesterday, WIDGER. That f***er just brings out the worst in Vazquez, I know what you're going to say Widger did not catch Javy yesterday that was Pierz!!11 Think about it though Ozzie gets tossed and suddenly Javier gets lit up, coincidence? I think not. I believe Pierz was getting his pitches called from the dugout and once Ozzie got tossed Widger took over the pitch calling. Hence the suckassness displayed by vazquez alst night. Kill Widger. hahahahahaha

Anyone can write like Dan Brown
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 14, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Nope and I've heard enough to know they'd still suck, but at least I wouldn't have to keep hearing and reading about them in rock n roll discussions. On a whim, went to see The Secret Machines at their midnight show at Metro last night. Those guys are perfect in that size venue. They're slowly coming out of their shells and becoming a better live act. you talk about bad live shows and you bring up the secret machines... I just don't understand your argument...sigur ros should conform to a more conventional rock format to fit in with the rock n roll conversations other people are having about them, and you hold that against them? They are great musicians that create beautiful musical soundscapes. They are masters at creating buildup and euphoric climaxes...they are guilty of some some lengthy songs, but in the context of the entire record, they deserve everything they get.

real men wear pink... did anyone go to this? it's been our sort of mothers day tradition, its amazing to look back and see the sea of people moving...Now they have it in 8 cities. Pretty cool

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 13, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) "...They take the pressure off stage performance with fantastic videos they project behind them...." We are supposedly talking about a live, rock n roll show, right? To each his own, but I find it ridiculous that these guys are categorized as rock music. They're records should be in the 'ambient' section right behind that Moby record that was mostly silence occasionally interrupted by sounds of a leaky faucet and f***in wind. why should that matter? If you categorize them as that would that make their live show all the sudden acceptable. How many sigur ros albums have you heard? you sound ridiculous right now.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) I was not at this show, but I bet this review is 100% accurate. These guys are the most overated band of the past 5 years or so. This is not rock n roll, it's the cure for insomnia. http://www.suntimes.com/output/derogatis/c...tr-sigur11.html you've got to be f***ing kidding me, i've seen sigur ros live and its one of the most transcending experiences i've had live. Their highs are ten times better than others can dream and the hit them every god damn night. They take the pressure off stage performance with fantastic videos they project behind them. I don't need the fat f*** jim derogatis to drool over the future embrace then claim sigur ros is a boring show. And more stupid potshots at "hopelandic" songwriting when most of takk was written in icelandic. He can go slob avril lavignes knob some more the dope.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) Actually I think you're Gertie's sister LOL. Goof. OH MAN, HAHAHAHA, GERTIE HAHAHAAHA, JIMH, AND YOU SAY YOU ARE STRAIGHT FORWARD!!!
