QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) still the funiest one ever http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/arc...gout12-4-05.htm hahaha

Radiohead was pretty incredible live. Pretty awesome stage set up. They had a bunch of jagged tvs behind them that resembled an englishmans teeth (sorry deploderer)...new songs are ... i unno. They rock more than HTTT...but seem less satisfying. LIke a collection of pop songs that blur would make. The Bends songs sounded alive...moreso than they've sounded on live bootlegs i've heard. Nude/Big Ideas(Don't Get Any) was song just on point. I'm pretty excited about that song finally being recorded.

finished the stranger...really fantastic last line.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) and relies solely on catchup speed to make 80% of his plays out there. I don't need stats to see that. I don't want to speak for anyone here, but I think you guys are missing each others points. SABR Sox was pointing out that, in comparison to other left fielders, Podsednik wasn't nearly as bad last year as some of you are making him out to be. Why is that? Because of his catchup speed. It may be his only asset, but in a position like left, you can usually get away with that. And that is likely why the stats ended up where they did.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) I have been wanting to read Moneyball forever, and always said to myself that I would this summer. Now I'm working two jobs and don't have a day off until at least July. Reading a book isn't the first thing I want to do in my little time off of work. its a very quick read...just throw it in your bathroom...

i hope you mean a player named shields and not the armor.

leslie feist The constantines were all very nice. and to lowercaserepublican would you want him to be a nice guy... i mean i've thought about it a while...and i wouldn't want mark e smith to be this outgoing nice person when i met him...he's supposed to be a prick.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) They need to get their act together and play some non-Lollapalooza chicago shows, damnit! Not sure if its been mentioned, but if you like Wilco check out Tweedy's side project "Loose Fur" they played in columbia, such a good show. Nels Cline...oh man. I can't say enough how good he is. Turns Kidssmoke into a song that isn't long enough! QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) That Gnarls Barkley performance at the MTV Video Awards is a classic now IMO. Anyone that hasn't seen it should check it out. I thought the top of the pops performance was better...from what people were telling me i thought it would have a lot more energy...i didn't realize cee lo just stands there like a statue in a different costume every performance... that said great pop album. I love when good albums get radio play.

ahh, book burning. The good ole days.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) I saw that, too. I wondered if we were going to hear more complaints about media bias.... i wasn't complaining, i just thought it was funny.

QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Mitch Hedburg Bill Hicks Zach Galafaknandkanniis 3 greats. I think people underrate hedburg as just being a comic for people on drugs...

QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) That sounds like the fall, with the lawyer in the bar? yessum...i really liked it, moreso for the fact when i thought to myself how hard and ambitious it would be to write like that and maintain interest. KG, i still have to go pick it up, i'm excited...i'm going on a roadtrip to maryland this weekend and i want to knockout both.. (haha, i remember i first got the book the fall because it has the same name as a band i love.)

QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) Awesome book, but The Fall is better (and one of my all-time faves) i started to read the fall, like 10 pages, but i miscalculated how much time i would've had to read when it was finals week and i had to return it. I went to the library by me, but i guess its the western branch of the aurora public library, and their selection was so small...but i saw this and grabbed it. on second thought maybe it wasn't the fall...it was...lets see, it was a conversation but you only read one side of it...does that ring a bell

on baseball tonight, on touchem all, they had konerkos home run with the text at the bottom of "ONLY his 2nd homerun in the past 3 games"... tough standards.

I'm going to take a shower... this is my first post in the game thread

david cross is awesome. His material is so story-based and he's such a good speaker that i never get tired of him.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 04:36 AM) I think the real question here is if Freddy will be awake for the first inning. Most of the time, he's pretty sleepy in the early going. You can get away with that as a pitcher, but not at first. So I propose that AJ cover first on all grounders hit during the first innning, except the ones hit to Iguchi, who should just run over from his position and take those unassisted. This approach will have an initially unseen benefit: Tadahito will lead the league in putouts, becoming the first Japanese second baseman to ever do so. Bud Selig will make a special presentation on Opening Day next year, honoring number 15 for a great accomplishment. I really believe in this plan. why aren't we managers yet?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Duke lacrosse assholes? It was being corrupted by several athletes who were falsely accused of rape by a stripper? I dont even see how that makes sense? Ding! the duke lacrosse players have been alleged to have been the biggest douche bags at the school, guilty or not of their crime, and therefore have become the symbol of asshole "jocks". I was not implying that the duke lacrosse assholes corrupted this school. Anyone with a reasonable intellect could have figured that out.

finally saw shaun of the dead. So brilliant. Even being much of a comedy, the fact that they had character development and you cared about the characters made it 10x better than most honest scary movies out there.
