For you "Who People"
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Townsend is a legendary guitarist. He's in the same class as Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, George Harrison, etc. He is my personal favorite from that bunch. Like I said in another thread, there are a good 25 to 30 soundboard concerts from 1968 to 1975 where his legendary guitar is on display. Get you some. The voice is also an instrument, correct? Roger Daltrey was always one of the elite singers in classic rock IMO. townshend is a great guitarist ... but technically speaking is not that elite...same with gilmour ...he's no where near the levels of those around him in your list. He was very innovative, yes. BUt he was the best as a composer and songwriter... but moon and entwhistle were technically some of my favorites ever. Entwhistle was amazing at bass.

For you "Who People"
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I love the Townsend/Daltrey/Entwistle/Moon Who. I respected the Townsend/Daltrey/Entwhstle/Jones Who. I accepted the one-off gigs and was happy for them with their success on the Tommy Revival. That said, they should have called it a career as anything with 'Who' in their name after John Entwhistle died. i should've read what you wrote, my sentiments exactly...all the best musicians are gone from that band...townshend was a great composer but entwhistle and moon were incredible at their instruments

College
wow wow, first decide if you'd like to go to a city school or a podunk college town, because both have their disadvantages/advantages. City schools have less diversity in students (goal/attitude wise not ethnicity wise) and the travel and housing are sometimes rough, but the shows, experience, city, job opportunities and bars are a huge plus. Money = issue. podunk college towns - more different types of people. Everything revolves around the college, you can beat the s*** out of everything and get away with a lot more...you have to visits college to understand this one i guess. then once you decide that...NIU has a couple of advantages IMO, i had two brothers go there...one, the Div 1A sports, two, the business school, and three, its close to home but far enough where you feel like you haven't gone anywhere, and its growing as a city and getting more restaurants and walmarts and such. SIU is fun as hell for parties..that's all i know. EIU is a school i don't know s*** about

Films
i think people shared how whoever that was felt about high tension. from what i hear the director got over his head but the last 15 minute retarded plot twist wasn't enough to ruin the extremely dark and doomed nature of the film. I think people liked the fact that there was absolutely no comic relief. um...i won't see it because i don't want to see another horror movie after seeing audition...

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) New Strokes album is pretty good. I'd suggest it, plus the booklet in the album has cool artwork, not that it matters but it's still kinda neat. yuck...the cover was gross i'm pretty mixed...i thought it could have been an incredible EP, but as it stands...by far their worst record. A shame because is this it and half of room on fire were great

2006 Attendance Figures
QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) Being the defending Champions, alot of people will show up. $3 million is a lot but 2.5 should be a reasonable goal. theres really no need for a dollar sign there unless you are saying $3 million dollars is a lot, in which case, i agree

Olbermann and MSNBC being smart.
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) I think a liberal talk radio network could be successful. In my opinion they should hire more intellectuals rather than celebrities as their show hosts. it's not about being smart, its about being entertaining...

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Some of you are COMPLETELY ignoring what Kenny has done & what he was rumored to be doing with young, cheap, starters. Perhaps the Garland for Eckstein trade rumor rings a bell? Kenny has shown no hesitancy at all to trading young cheap pitchers if he can get the PLAYER he wants. Is Crawford that player? Time will tell. Ozzie made a proclamation before the confetti has been swept away from the celebration: I want a new #2 hitter to take the pressure off Pods & to move up to #1 when Pods can't play. Uribe is not a proven player to fill that role. garland for erstadt?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) I think Ben Folds is becoming James Taylor with a piano and without the heroin addiction. i absolutely hated his new album. It was sappy and gross and lacked the clever songwriting and more gritty production

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) I do love The Fox... track 3 (whose name I cant remember at the moment) really stands out for me as well. It was a relatively slow year this year. Beck's album sucked - and I'm a big fan of the "everything but the kitchen sink" style. Ben Folds was a disappointment as well. Whole albums seemed somewhat lacking for the most part, but I've found stronger singles from artists I love though. i also left out all the dungen records because i couldn't figure out what was released in 05... yeah, i didn't hate guero, it had some standouts like lazarene...but i was very disappointed. Depended on where you looked on whether or not you were disappointed, it certainly was no 2000 or 2002
