  1. Last year Hahn said they were struggling to get a good lotto ticket pitcher because our rotation looked so overfilled, and to that end I just don't think Brantley would walk into a situation like that. He can probably find a multi-year deal. If we want to do the DH/backup thing, we should go after lastella and see if he'd bite.
  2. The failure is artificially limiting what your team is capable of to shame the other owners into not giving out contracts the owner thinks are unseemly.
  3. Maybe the worst thing to happen to the white sox this offseason may not even be LaRussa but Steve Cohen getting his sale for the Mets. JR knew he had to batten down the hatches and let labor know whose boss, down to hiring a manager that will yell at them and tell them their place.
  4. Something important for us to remember despite Hahns overtures is the white Sox are still very much the white Sox. The great news is there is still a lot of ways to make this team great next year as it’s foundation is incredibly strong.
  5. As much as you guys like to act like the best writers are part of some spy network sending codes to be deciphered in the media, Jimmy isn’t sending subtweets to fans by writing about a likely player.
  6. Especially when it was really just an incredible sept/oct
  7. Here are some miracles that need to happen: - bears need to lose out (this is a miracle just because they always win bs games that don’t matter) - WAS needs to win NFC E - Hurts needs to keep looking promising - Falcons need to keep winning - San Fran needs to win - Panthers need to win 2 QBs are going 1-2. This puts bears in probable range for the best of the rest QBs if they like them (Whether QB3 is Wilson, Fields, or by some chance the small school guy or Jones)
  8. I don’t think JBJ gets more than $10 mill but he does have random offensive upside years. But his value would be a pretty phenomenal outfield defense and I do think that would be a big help.
  9. So do we think anything will happen at all this week league wide?
  10. You know, I’ve started to come around to the idea that owners care way more about the total contract number than makes sense to us.
  11. The lions are bad with a new head coach mid season and the bears lost to them. Theyve lost 6 straight. They have no QB, little offensive talent and an underperforming front four in defense where all their money is. Of course it isn’t one guy.
  12. They just have to lose out. I really like Zach wilson
  13. I think part of this pushback is if you are interviewing for the baseball ops job you’d see this and think you’d be forced into a decision. That said, clearly this isn’t getting resolved soon. More likely the deals that have been rehashed as nauseum.
  14. And this is why New York and California teams never get free agents and Texas and Florida teams get every free agent
  15. That is what it’s like when you are going to make 24 million a year in one place and 25 million in another.
  16. You are talking 7 million dollars over the course of a 5 year 118 million contract. In terms of how it affects his life, it is no different than my example. That’s why percentage terms adds more clarity.
  17. If it was 31 PAs and you can’t draw conclusions it’s weird you had takeaways from it.
  18. He took 6% less on the same amount of years to be closer to family and stay in NL. If I was choosing between jobs and one was 6% less salary but closer to home, it would not be a hard decision. You guys act like he refused to even negotiate with the Sox. This is so dumb.
  19. Got it. He reverted to bad habits but it didn’t affect his production at all.
  20. I think Wheeler could be moved I’d just be surprised if it’s before they bring on their new President or VP or whatever it will be
