  1. I have an idea that is probably not very good. I was thinking about Hudson and eovaldi this offseason...got me thinking about Taillon. The idea: trade for taillon with the idea of making him a bullpen swing man in 2021/2022. The pirates save the arb cost and uncertainty of his recovery and get a piece of low quality back. Sox get an interesting asset who could turn into a decent bullpen piece. I don’t think I would even do this but now that the offseason is basically over this is what I think about when I look at this and next years terrible reliever markets.
  2. Feels like double counting of Alonso is occurring
  3. Yeah they have the best pitching staff by FAR which goes a long way, but maybe we can hope for a good ole bullpen explosion
  4. They said he worked hard to prepare for the game but wasn’t doing what he needed to do to for the season. Texas had all these powerful, athletic intl signings and none planned out as expected. Maybe they were bad teachers. Sometimes guys think they are following instructions when they aren’t. Sox might not be the best player dev team in the world, but maybe hearing the same thing differently might help.
  5. I don’t think lack of interest describes Mazara at all.
  6. Right, Lindor and JR were approach driven. JD Martinez was swing driven.
  7. Wake up for the one year old, stay up to yell at the drunk crowd
  8. I actually don’t really think you believe this.
  9. I don’t know about superstar, I do think he will be a top 50 hitter in the game easily. I don’t think Collins will ever be close to that nor do I particularly care. And $15 million? Really? That’s quite clearly fine. And nobody ever gets blocked. What happens if Vaughn has an offensive year the likes of Eloy or Robert had? We just trade NC. The return won’t even matter. Now what happens if Vaughn doesn’t? Are we worse for having NC at up DH another year? I believe in NCs bat. He’s not JD - but he is available and likely at a price much lower than I expected in November.
  10. I think he's a fine bat (one of my favorite offensive players of the decade), I don't particularly see it as so productive. Would rather shore up other stuff. But it's not like, offensive to me or anything.
  11. See your second paragraph is exactly what I'm talking about in that a pillow deal may be possible. Everyone thought Castellanos was going to be a 9 figure contract. Great second half, youngest position player. Teams needed OFers. Who has been rumored on him? San Fran? The Cubs? There is no team going to sweep in.
  12. Sox fans didn't create this rumor though
  13. I am still going to wait and see here. I am not a fan of EE (though sanguine on it since it's so clearly a 1 year deal likely), but I really have believed in Castellanos bat as being plus his next three years so there is part of this that does excite me.
