Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
I mean if I'm him I'm not trying to get less than Arenado, age be damned.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
I don't think the sox should work the way they work so I don't see a need to change my opinions on what they should do with a currently cheap roster and special players available for the taking.

I too would like to retire by 35 (with $200 mill in bank)

The White Sox next acquisition will be...

Sign rendon, sign miley, sign a 2nd pitcher, go year by year pitching waiting for opportunity. It's a much better plan than trying to fill RF and SP perfectly

State of Sox player development
It's especially wild because Dick WIlliams did not have this rep at all, then he goes and gets Boddy and the Vandy coach.

I miss when the Dbacks front office sucked.

State of Sox player development
Well, I would say Vizquel being pushed out is some indication that they are trying to align minor leagues to their analytics and PD team. But every team is doing that. I think Getz is legitimately trying to do all the right things but it's just not done at nearly the urgency it should have. As soon as Sale was traded they should have done a complete overhaul knowing that their future rested on young players yet to be developed.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Why? As a second pitcher and his age I think he's as likely as any to be one of the more productive low-tier signings this year.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
This would be my bet.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
I'd be happy with Price, but the stuff you get worried about as they have nagging injuries is them constantly compensating and stressing some other part of their arm - and always introducing a new injury. But yeah, it has not been that sale level injury where you are worried about it long term.

I mean Heyman isn't gospel, just thought Id pass along since I happened to be listening.

Ryu to Jays - 4 yr/80 mil
Just listening to Heyman on the score, he says he's not hearing sox at all on Ryu, have heard them on keuchel.

getz has been pretty routinely emptying out DSL each year to go to AZL.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
I don't know, after being embarrassed about how provocative they were last year when they couldn't back it up, all of this read to me as a "we are going to evaluate the opportunities". And the thing I actually liked is (despite not trusting sox valuations) is they are not giving the impression that they are just moving down the line of top free agents in order to catch a big fish (i.e. we missed out on wheeler, welp, lets throw it all at bumgarner). Now, this is grading on a curve, since I still think the best use of their cheap talent is to spend a shit ton on another star and then operate in this zone they are already in of value tier free agents, but I'll take what I can get.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Actually struggling to remember. I think he backed out of a three way trade where we netted Edwin Jackson, but I think we wanted him to go to Nats for Dunn.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Read yesterday that Rizzo included all of his scouts in the WS shares. So glad that guy won a WS, he can be arrogant and he screwed over the sox, but he runs a damn good FO and rewards his players well.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
I don't think that characterizes what Fegan in particular wrote, and I also think he wrote it with a skepticism of what this FO can accomplish.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
You put way too much emphasis on headlines written by like 23 year old editors
