Yeah I agree. He started the year doing what I wanted to see (throwing upwards of 50% sliders), and he both couldn't sustain it healthwise and wasn't that great. Sucks, dude had such an amazing profile and baseball just doesn't make sense sometimes.
  4. There are a lot of interesting teams in the NFL this year but boy is it hard to imagine any of them beating the pats. Though man, I was watching the ravens yesterday and thinking about how much I admire the Ravens org. Truly a group of football guys that are just dedicated to both finding guys that fit their scheme while at the same time being capable of finding schemes to fit their players. Harbaugh had a couple years where he made some poor OC choices and was probably just stuck in flacco-ville. Lamar Jackson seems to have reinvigorated him.
  5. Yeah I mean they aren't so far off. That Cherington bad year was clearly an anomoly and he walked into a sweet situation. Detroit he did more and made some really excellent moves, they were a bit like the nats though in that it was not clear what they were missing in being more successful. It likely was just depth. And I don't think he's the good fit for the sox mainly due to what he'd have for spending - but maybe DD is much better at pulling the purse strings with owners? I think operationally he'd actually get things in much better shape despite not having a rep as progressive. But yeah, this is fantasyland - but I do think there is a reasonable chance he goes to reinsdorf for a job and reinsdorf, a la with dave duncan or doug collins, says sure hey Rick make a new place for Dave here.
  6. I tend to think the Cabrera extension was coming from Illitch. Scherzer going was bad but they tried to extend him and I remember so many on here pointing to scherzer as a major flameout candidate. He should have traded him though. edit: jd martinez?
  7. Just to add to this a bit, I do not think DD would come here and replace Kenny or Hahn. But Im struggling to think of a team ready for him. Maybe Texas would fit if they are tired of Daniels. Like maybe he’d be a splash hire for the royals? So, I do think there is a possibility DD gets added as a special asst to the GM while he waits for his next gig. Put it at like 8%.
  8. These are the problems I can’t wait to have. Instead of the “defers getting good players to sign $40 mill grab bag of vets that provide negative value”. I don’t think DD is the best president you can hire, but he’s certainly better than what we have.
  9. Eh, that run was fantastic and a WS appearance
  10. DD did exactly what he was asked but it’s fair to look at them and think it wasn’t built for his strengths moving forward and to change directions. Red Sox are a highly effective org and I’m sure they’ll find a way not to miss a beat.
  11. 4th quarter on he was awesome.
  12. I loved ekeler last year, ultimately missed him in each draft.
  13. Any good hits and misses today? Hits: - Had Lamar Jackson in one league, along with Ingram. Was pumped that worked out week one, but better play may be to just trade for whatever QB is facing the dolphins each week. Misses: - Had Tyreek hill in my two leagues. Ouch - I deprioritized TE in both leagues, and it’s clear I’ll need to play it aggressively on waivers. Kyle rudolph, woof
  14. Ugh why’d I throw vet min in this prediction
  15. Yes, college baseball starts in late February. They finish their year, then start playing more baseball than they ever have for 2.5 months longer. It’s pretty common they wear out.
  16. Lol yeah I saw the futuresox tweet and was shocked Great falls was still playing. Good ole mendoza
  17. He looks like David kaplan
  18. Hope he’s good.
  19. The thing is you are still weighing one rusty game with your whole team you’ve practiced with or 3-4 guys on IR for 8 weeks
  20. Feels like: - raiders will release brown - pats will sign him for vet min
  21. Man this doesn’t seem possible. Are they all Cordell’s?
