  1. I feel like a really big catcher would be good at framing because they can block the view of the ump and give a big target to the pitcher.
  2. K, Mercedes is the best hitter in this organization
  3. Hah, thanks. Not the guy who sued baseball for free agency and died 20 years ago then.
  4. Curt flood is the Birmingham announcer right? I love his home run calls.
  5. I’m struggling to make more than 1 for 1 deals on this. Also it hated the folty for colome deal
  6. Ha, this is very confusing because Generic posted the wrong link and double quotes don’t work. I was excited by Sox pumping their analysts full of steroids though.
  7. I don’t know they would have either but I would be a supporter. If I was braves I would put folty in bullpen rather than trade him for a bp
  8. but he played for them for half the year.
  9. I like him, I think he could be a Tyler Saladino player that is versatile and has home run pop even if not a plus offensive player. I don't think he'll be a disaster if not overexposed, but he does tend to be very streaky while never bottoming out.
  10. I do not understand why nba teams always bail out the richest, luckiest teams at the peak of their team building desperations at such low costs. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27068842/sources-lakers-ship-3-wiz-open-max-space Like what? All of those dudes are terrible, you could have bought a 2nd round pick next year for less in cash, and you sent money? GTFO washington
  11. they won't eat 9 million. They will eat 4.5 million.
  12. There is a lot of cap space, but almost 40% of the league is free agents. If I could guess one position that will end up getting far less than they expected its the tweener, offensive 4s like Randle/Portis. Maybe they will be way cheaper than we expected.
  13. I was friggen convinced this dude would end up getting his PAs and ending up on the team next year.
  14. Yeah I kinda wanted an old timey Contreras for loaiza trade.
  15. Hi everyone I have thought of some trades that I haven't thought through that much and should probably keep to myself. It's an offday though so I am sharing it with you. The "What?" trades Alex Colome for mike foltynewicz - I don't even know who would do this or if everyone would feel bad about it, but it's a good ole major league for major league trade! Folty was recently demoted, is maddeningly inconsistent, has a staff in atlanta that should make him his best version of himself but has failed. I'm all in! Let's get him! Alex Colome for Travis Shaw - Why did you write this down? Bummer and Joel Booker to Cards for Dylan Carlson Colome to Cards for Ryan Helsley and Genesis Cabrera The "Why?" trades Taylor Varnell for Tommy Milone (SEA) - Would be nice to get a guy that eats innings and could do bullpen days or spot starts. Laz Rivera for Drew Pomeranz Not even going to put down my ReyLo to Pads trades.
  16. Right, this year, especially, really this month, I took stock of it all and felt like it was impossible to say it has been a failure. It has still struggled to get guys through A-ball, but those in AZL/Gfalls and to some extent now in kanny are performing ahead of their prior peers. And even short of superstars, they lack just getting depth, utility infielders, 4th outfielders, stuff that other teams generate easily. Pitching however has just been unbelievably empty. I'm very excited for guzman but that's like 6 years away. FDLS was the last guy that provided any value I can think of. You'd think random chance we'd have run into one in the last 10 years that sprouted up.
  17. Thanks James, this was great. I don't know, I'm in between arguments. THings have certainly shifted to the point where I think we can really say paddy has become successful. He has identified and pushed for signing an all star 1b, the top prospect in baseball (of which we get no fruits), a top 5 prospect in baseball, and for a time top 100 prospect in baseball (adolfo). But I am not sure I buy this "sox prefer a quantitative approach" mainly because the sox are rarely even at the top for most signings in any given period are they? Seems like the yankees still sign 30 guys plus 3-4 top 30 ones. Other teams aren't avoiding signing lenyn sosas, they have their own in their class. It doesn't mean they are bad or wrong, but after years of lack of success I'd just like sox to go all-in more. A complete quantity play with the most signings of all teams in a period. A play like the yankees or as where we throw everything ad jasson dominguez or puason. But they are just half-in, they say they are quantity but don't actually own the 500-1million market either. It's just confusing but the next two years are going to provide the most clarity, because there seems to be some production that may come out of the 17/18 classes, more than expected.
  18. I think the jose iglesias contract indicates there is not a lot of value there regardless. Defense only SSs could be acquired fairly cheaply. Tim is having some trouble again with errors, but provides way more value as a shortstop than a RF, and the combo of slugging RF/TA at SS is much more potent than TA at RF, competent, replaceable SS at SS. You'd be looking to upgrade that position constantly so the savings wouldn't be that helpful.
  19. That’s pretty interesting. It would be nice to have a reliable scorer off bench but wouldn’t want to devote half the available leftover cap to him. Rather toward wings/athletic forwards
  20. I’ll be in Raleigh so W-S is the only reasonable drive.
  21. I think AZL tune-up, W-S next.
  22. So Vaughn. He’s a new player, good bat.
