But this is way too large of an advantage, again, we can see the incredible value still assigned to 2nd round picks in free agency. To just hand them out for free, along with revenue sharing and all the other benefits, is too much.

The interesting thing to see when he arrives is how much he has progressed. Kiley mentioned he didn't even make area codes last summer in a not particularly competitive area. But the BA writeup and hostetler mentioned significant improvement in bat this senior year, but against crap competition. He's raw regardless, but will be interesting to see how his progression translates.

Saying Basabe will never hit 20 homers is crazy. He may never make big leagues, but there is definitely a big league version of him that hits 20 home runs.
