  1. Also I'm in on this line being very close to good. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2024-free-agency-primer-best-free-agents-every-position While most of that list will never see the light of day, I think it IS likely Connor Williams of the dolphins is available. Adding a veteran center that can snap a ball and not get injured every game will be a big help. Braxton has looked very good so far, and I just don't think they are coached very well/the constant swapping of positions has been a terrible idea.
  2. Rosenthal article on blue jays being willing to move manoah https://theathletic.com/5074023/2023/11/19/mlb-free-agent-woodruff-braves-trades/
  3. What if we proposed a Kopech for Manoah swap? I think what will be said is "they will get something good for Manoah" and I suppose that is true. But what I'm presupposing is, maybe it's not? White Sox Acquire Alek Manoah, Cavan Biggio Toronto Blue Jays Acquire Michael Kopech, Gregory Santos, Ky Bush These are the things a rebuild is made of.
  4. one of the better things BA does. Not an inspiring list for position players yet, but they always add more. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-rule-5-draft-preview-2023/ select snippets position player
  5. Highly recommend spending money on financial news sources but not investment news sources. WSJ and bloomberg news will help build your strong opinions on what may be undervalued/on the rise/ready to sell. Investment info makes you feel like you should be making constant adjustments. But yes, i'd just recommend putting aside some money in VOO or SPDR and then when you feel strongly about some individual sector or stock, it will be easier to perform research on its status and how to invest in it.
  6. These are the things one says in the offseason before they remember that watching some wily old veteran slap a weak grounder to second base at bat after at bat isn't nearly as romantic as it seemed.
  7. He's not. Mayer is going to be an incredibly good receiving TE. 12 personnel is increasing in usage in the NFL especially by 49ers and eagles. Having one of the best receiving TE prospects ever (which kmet is not used in that role) allows you to build an offense with multiple weapons and would work extremely well. What's a waste is to use a high draft asset to grab a top edge from an extremely weak edge class because your bad team has a need for it.
  8. Nightengale - 90% Heyman - 80% Choose your fighter
  9. It is not tongue in cheek, he is 35 years old. He has played 4 straight years of below average offense. His power has regressed to a near .100 iso. His krate has increased the last 3 years. What it would look like if he starts becoming .05 slower to first, or if his bat speed slows down and his discipline falters, is he becomes an unplayable ball player because his hard hit rate is in the 2 percentile. He got to 1.5 WAR by playing a lot. It is nice to prevent the other god awful players from playing, but if he regresses the way it would be extremely likely for a 35 year old player who doesn't walk and relies to on speed to do, it is a waste.
  10. No, he’s going to fall off a cliff and be out of baseball next year. It’s an awful signing by an awful org.
  11. I thought it was better to trade him this offseason but gotta tell you I’m a little down now with the other pitchers becoming available and my pessimism over Baltimore being aggressive. But it’s still better than Hahn trading him for whatever gave him the highest rankings in the spring BA 100
  12. I think I had the first actual trade for outman trades. First was before 2022, where I was hoping Kimberly could land Jacob Amaya and Outman + salary relief. Outman had just started to show off power that year and seemed blocked. Last year I had him moving in a package for Hendriks, I think. But as you said it was predicated on the early rumors of them going after Judge and other top OFers. Once they truly had an of that included trace thompson it seemed unlikely.
  13. He was 6.4 in this org. Once pitchers have shown the kind of dominance Cease has, they tend to retain value. People kept taking shots at Shelby miller after he was absolute garbage. Or Lance Lynn getting $10 million. Pitchers are volatile, Cease is available and has great stuff. That’s valuable beyond any immediate recent results.
  14. Bowers is more of a U tight end that will play off the line, unlike Kmet and more like Packers TE Musgrove. But your whole comment is just so stupid I can’t handle it.
  15. I don't think that's 4D, that's pretty straightforward. I do think having watched a decent amount of the league the last few weeks, that the bears QB situation is not terrible. And while it is scary to pass on what could be two very good QB prospects and raise the chance you miss out on a 2020 like class (Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Hurts), you can also have the opportunity to trade down out of 1, still get marvin harrison, still have another first rounder next year. Really, I'm not sure it's even necessary to draft Alt/Fashanu. Jones has looked pretty damn good. You get a real center, which the FA class looks ok there, and it's a good group, albeit with some injury risk at guard. So you could potentially have an extremely fun top draft class of MHJ + Bowers. But after watching Laiatu Latu on saturday i'd be pretty happy with MHJ + Latu.
  16. If top betting choices were baltimore and LAD I'm taking the field for sure.
  17. Their entire top ten was pretty brutal, tbh. Lots of the kind of caveats the sox have too many of.
  18. $10 mill continues to be this baseline amount for any pitcher who is feasible to pitch 120 innings in a starting role, no matter how terribly.
  19. I get what you are saying but this org is also missing offensive firepower in the minors.
  20. Nice signing. They are still keeping maximum room for 2024 too.
  21. We could just not trade eloy if that was such a concern. But I can't imagine there being a concern that we will lack a 4 hole hitter on the 2024 white sox that we should demand a different prospect package.
