  1. I completely agree.
  2. I just wouldn't be shocked. Taking other info at face value, the idea was that jerry took over negotiations for this because he was a superior negotiator. He alone needs to negotiate it, and he can set up a back door with another owner (as he has prior), and tell his FO how confident he was they didn't need to budge. Then san diego came along ruined their plan.
  3. Yeah I think there has been some of the FO wrangling in the owner, I do think philly has eyes on the prize with trout, and part of that is making it known to him without colluding (lol) that they will be able to pay him so don't sign an extension.

Yeah I rarely have enough attention to lend to the college pitchers selected in the draft when they arrive their first year, In excited to see how stiever does based on your interest and the write up on pilkington and if he can add velo.
  5. wow he’s still not at 300?
  6. Adolfo and Dunning has quite good, albeit short years.
  7. The last few pages of this thread have had several posts that are way too combative. If you can’t post on this topic or the white Sox without insulting or taking pot shots at other posters, then you will miss out discussing it here when Harper actually signs.
  8. Surprised Sox didn’t change it to be a swell opt at year 4 or 5 that locked him in at 320 or allowed the opt out. That’s at least much more competitive though still at a disadvantage to straight up 300 mill
  9. They have 2 games left v hawks. They can just commit to tanking those and it would be very difficult to lose 4th
  10. He may have. He may just be seeing if by waiting a few extra days a team gets impatient
  11. I mean, philly.
  12. And part of this is removing Dunn from the equation as much as possible. Used to seem that when they didn’t mesh it was Lavines fault but it’s clear it’s pretty much Dunn’s.
  13. God this is such a good point and it kills me.

Probably the most interesting infield paired with the least interesting outfield.
  15. The windup is just so obnoxious
  16. Not sure I could handle watching Capps pitch to be honest. Not a bad idea though, he’s been brutal on health front.
  17. They’ve said this for a few years and haven’t come close to following through.
  18. Lavine and Lauri are learning how to play with each other and it’s beautiful
  19. They also signed Yasmani Grandal and Moustakas this year. They find more value in the markets then the Sox. Short, long, trades, draft, Milwaukee does it better. It doesn’t matter what area the Sox have been in free agency, their signings have been atrocious.
  20. Notice that Milwaukee has been able to find good value doing this. White Sox results make it even worse than it seems.
  21. Caulfield you realize this isn’t the World Series today right?
  22. I like hearing that Fulmer touched 94 today. Hoping by end of ST he’s at 96
  23. Absolutely, and it’s not a discussion that 1b in general cannot be valuable, it’s that being a 1b earlier in their career may indicate a lack of athleticism or whatever else, and their bats have often stagnated in the minors they basically are what they are and others catch up. But look at the record of college 1b last decade, it’s not good. I believe Paul himself was what, catcher when drafted?
