  1. Well they have spent.
  2. https://www.thegoodphight.com/2019/1/11/18178917/hittin-season-247-hot-stove-trout-w-scott-lauber Interesting here Lauber doesn't even mention white sox, just yanks as machado competition.
  3. Yeah he was fine until this. But in retrospect his manny info from the beginning I followed him (Sox trade rumors for him last year) never panned out.
  4. Hey man says they are still in on him fwiw
  5. The return is minor leaguers though, so it’s still added salary
  6. While it looks like Toronto chipping in, there is no offsetting contract sent back by dodgers. So adding some amount of money.
  7. I don't know, with what betts just got, bryant is gonna be a $20 mill player already. They really do seem up against it.
  8. Also interesting, the yankees have gleybar torres.
  9. No way. There is zero, zero indication that next year will be better. Each year frankly seems to be getting worse for everyone except relievers.
  10. Just a reminder that pitchforks have to be in a clear plastic bag to get in, everyone.
  11. I felt that way anyway, but yes, too many stars aligned for this to be the year. Has to happen.
  12. I don't think so. I would be surprised if he finds a job this year.
  13. Every signing ever within 5 minutes of each other Rosenthal/morosi/passan/local beat writer: "x player signs with team for 2 years" 10 minutes later Bob N: "x player signs with team for 2 years. Definitely a player that will play for that team. rosenthal 1st"
  14. This is a good point. Yanks have been very dogmatic on getting players on their terms this offseason. Cashman has really fine tuned that org to the new operating environment.
  15. I mean with this market it made way more sense to get a good, cheaper 2b than to go big on a 3b especially with the pieces they had. DJ is also a nice change of pace piece to that lineup too though. Good signing. Man the yankees are gonna be good.
  16. Man I'll be so mad if the mentor lands him. That's a way more efficient way to build favor than actually using two roster spots on friends.
  17. Damn this is one of my favorite posts ever.
  18. Will we hear today if Clarkin passed through?
  19. There haven't been harper connections at all since winter meetings until this phillies meeting came up. Also everyone seems to think harper doesn't want to be on their team. Boras is pretty good at what he does.
  20. So, I know I'm prolonging this debate we all want to end, but Tatis blew up on the radar like 6 months after he was traded, he was only 18. It's not like a josh donaldson where years later he became amazing.
  21. Gio was good though. I was reading a Jayson Stark thread on player acquisitions and its effect on attendance, one was the Cabrera trade. I remember how far our proposed package felt from what the tigers offered to get Cabrera, but in retrospect I think the sox actually offered the best package of all of the rumored ones. Man, one player never makes that big of a difference but I swear had we landed cabrera sox would have been in playoffs 09-12.
  22. It feels like I'm in an airport waiting to board a plane for vacation and the flight keeps getting delayed.
  23. Arm is the most overrated freaking trait in baseball. There are more good players with less than ideal arms in their position then position-perfect arms that you want to keep around. Obviously it would be great if he had a cannon, but he has really quick exchanges and that may make whatever deficiencies he'd have equal. And if he has value offensively than we won't care that much.
