  1. The lit on this is really annoying. There is like a single mlb.com article that addresses the costs for non lux tax teams and explicitly lists who is revenue sharing team and who isn't.
  2. Oh my bad! I totally blanked on that with the trade.
  3. Isn't the assumption we sign Manny though too?
  4. Someone have Jim Thome call up Manny and tell him the walkway is called sky's the limit, that's gotta be worth like 1/8th of one of his friends on the team.
  5. I just don't believe a professional installation would be so sloppy with the wires to and from the sign. It looks like a house fixture...maybe a restaurant.
  6. Oh sorry. I think the connection he may have drawn is that the big neon walkway in o'hare is called "sky's the limit". I don't believe there is a neon sign anywhere saying that though, but I could be wrong! I've never been in the fancy lounges.
  7. Screen shot. I assume if this was good someone on twitter would have shrieked by now.
  8. I follow machado on instagram, I didn't see that. He had a neon sign that was in a bedroom/house that said skys the limit. Now it's a pic from the WBC with some Dr teammates. any of those teammates white sox now? I'll try to post it.
  9. And where owners demand public financing for everything rather than their own money. Talk about skin in the game. Yes, more than just the mlb players union need improvements. But it's okay to talk about the mlb players union needing an improvement. Most of these guys did not come from posh backgrounds and developed an incredible skill that we all take joy from and can hope they get the spoils of that.
  10. I was literally just reminding myself that it was just two days ago we were getting relevant info. Rowand asked why it was relevant and I made that comment. I'm sorry you disagreed with a joke.
  11. I have no idea how you took that away from that sentence.
  12. it was pro white sox so it was totally relevant. Non pro white sox is irrelevant because they must be mistaken.
  13. I don't know, I think best thing for players would just be to restructure and try and get arb in year 2 and make year 6 a team option. At that point it's legitimate salary and could give them an additional year of free agency. And quite frankly I think teams would like more actual free agents too. It's not just that teams value free agents less, it's that they are just a much worse pool to build teams on then 15 years ago when players somehow aged much more gracefully (at least it felt that way!)
  14. Man how long ago does Tuesday feel when we were actually getting relevant news?
  15. pretty much how thome always talks sorry to say.
  16. I know I watched a lot of 2011/12 sox baseball yet can't remember anything about Brent Morel except his head shape.
  17. OTOH if we DO sign Machado for 200 mill that would be pretty incredible unless its like 1 year 200 million then I would say that was probably unwise.
  18. Truly remarkable how the sox pro scouting, which seemed to be among the best in the game throughout the 00s just seemed to fall off a cliff in 2009/10
  19. oooOOo boy Joe Panik, hold your horses everyone this markets about to explooooode
  20. From Zach Lowe's ten things column and it goes on... http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25679396/10-things-like-including-james-harden-kobe-jordan-territory-nba (the bulls gave up 124 last night)
  21. To be honest, I don't think sox seriously consider a leak to be part of their strategy. I think KW probably does it because it's fun, and others do it, and it's part of the game. And Bob N runs with it because he needs content. And the best ones try to sniff it out and give the best possible context for what's happening.
  22. I'm pretty annoyed with this Parkey crap. They are trying to shoehorn the reality into the story into the a morning news "get back up on that horse" treatment.
  23. If he plays baseball at all before draft it would mean he's playing baseball. While the team building process in baseball takes many forms, draft picks are too valuable in today's nfl to take the risk that the As just made.
  24. Was it though? Going into the draft everybody though he could be a comp round selection worth risk but the big narrative was nobody knowing if he’d choose baseball.
