  1. I don't know, with what betts just got, bryant is gonna be a $20 mill player already. They really do seem up against it.
  2. Also interesting, the yankees have gleybar torres.
  3. No way. There is zero, zero indication that next year will be better. Each year frankly seems to be getting worse for everyone except relievers.
  4. Just a reminder that pitchforks have to be in a clear plastic bag to get in, everyone.
  5. I felt that way anyway, but yes, too many stars aligned for this to be the year. Has to happen.
  6. I don't think so. I would be surprised if he finds a job this year.
  7. Every signing ever within 5 minutes of each other Rosenthal/morosi/passan/local beat writer: "x player signs with team for 2 years" 10 minutes later Bob N: "x player signs with team for 2 years. Definitely a player that will play for that team. rosenthal 1st"
  8. This is a good point. Yanks have been very dogmatic on getting players on their terms this offseason. Cashman has really fine tuned that org to the new operating environment.
  9. I mean with this market it made way more sense to get a good, cheaper 2b than to go big on a 3b especially with the pieces they had. DJ is also a nice change of pace piece to that lineup too though. Good signing. Man the yankees are gonna be good.
  10. Man I'll be so mad if the mentor lands him. That's a way more efficient way to build favor than actually using two roster spots on friends.
  11. Damn this is one of my favorite posts ever.
  12. There haven't been harper connections at all since winter meetings until this phillies meeting came up. Also everyone seems to think harper doesn't want to be on their team. Boras is pretty good at what he does.
  13. So, I know I'm prolonging this debate we all want to end, but Tatis blew up on the radar like 6 months after he was traded, he was only 18. It's not like a josh donaldson where years later he became amazing.
  14. Gio was good though. I was reading a Jayson Stark thread on player acquisitions and its effect on attendance, one was the Cabrera trade. I remember how far our proposed package felt from what the tigers offered to get Cabrera, but in retrospect I think the sox actually offered the best package of all of the rumored ones. Man, one player never makes that big of a difference but I swear had we landed cabrera sox would have been in playoffs 09-12.
  15. It feels like I'm in an airport waiting to board a plane for vacation and the flight keeps getting delayed.
  16. Arm is the most overrated freaking trait in baseball. There are more good players with less than ideal arms in their position then position-perfect arms that you want to keep around. Obviously it would be great if he had a cannon, but he has really quick exchanges and that may make whatever deficiencies he'd have equal. And if he has value offensively than we won't care that much.
  17. I have to say I'm a bit annoyed to even hear we are "even" with Philly.
  18. Rather than trade Madrigal prematurely, you could do what the actual good clubs do, and utilize this player with great baseball IQ around the diamond and just have 4 great players when they would have only had 3. Madrigal is great because he can accommodate you.
  19. Madrigal wouldn’t be the first college prospect to underwhelm with power during their post draft season though. That is a thing. And scouts that have actually watched Madrigal say he’s effective at tapping into power so I’ll trust them more than half season numbers.
  20. well jennings was not a good reliever, and soria I don't know why you would evaluate that trade yet. I like the process for that trade much more.
