For one, they can literally buy them. With cash. It's happened!

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
This is stated perfectly.

If only the bulls were as aggressive in acquiring picks as they were in acquiring cash they would have some actual value to do things with. What exactly does this cash allow them to do? Will they hire an actual league average scouting department (size wise)? Will they pay the $200 to attend the international combine? Who knows.

I knew the NFL thread was too reasonable last night!

Me too, and I think that's a great deal for sox and one that's very tradeable if the rest of the team doesn't organize well around him.

i get this point but if I'm his agent I'm reminding him that injuries can occur for no reason and despite all the training in the world. Would be a rather large gamble.

Man, last night sucked, thankfully I root for all 16 NFC teams so I'm guaranteed a spot in the superbowl regardless, rock n roll dudes!

I don't even care. I really don't care at all. These are the only moves the bulls ownership is capable of making. They sold korver for nothing. They sold jr smith for nothing. They saved money instead of going for it with our 2011-14 core. They are a joke.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I really wonder if players/agents are starting to look differently at the opt-out. Maybe machado/harper are proving this false, but it really feels like they are more likely to get paid more for their 30s years when teams are trying to get their 26-30 years then if they opt out at age 30 and try to get another "mega deal". For example (and this one is kinda tough just due to his career), had JD martinez become a FA at 28, I would bet he could have gotten more money for age 30-35 seasons than what he got from Boston. calculation may be shifting, and if anything the new CbA the players should be demanding being allowed to be paid earlier rather than force more money into the current system. So if I'm an agent I think best move is to take the long term money.

I guess that sounds right? But I still would feel safer going 8/240. Frankly if we sign him for anything under 8/280 i'm elated, if we sign him for 10/300+ i'm still thrilled. But getting machado without swallowing his age 35 + 36 years would be incredible.

Hopefully Broncos hire Munchak this week, but I won't feel safe until all 8 spots are filled.

I would be a kicker and if I had a parkey moment I would just retire and move to Mexico.

It is truly remarkable how little news has come out of philly after their owner opened his mouth about stupid money. Maybe they have their own little easter eggs philly fans are obssessing over like we are, but seems like there has been a lot more concrete movement from sox than from phillies.

I do think he was the guy philly zeroed in on stopping and burton being out helped it be even easier.

Whatever, i'm adding it to the title anyway.

While not blaming parkey probably seems high minded, where would so many of the dominant playoff teams be if their kicker missed the last kick of the game? Patriots aren't patrioting so often that's for sure. Ravens aren't ravening. Bears don't get to super bowl in 06. But nobody in those games said "well if the patriots did this prior then they wouldn't have need the kick"

The difference between the Eagles being super bowl champions last year and the falcons beating them 16-15 at their stadium was a failed goal line pass. Yes, I too would like the bears to have done all the plays that work and none of the things that don't, but sometimes the other team plays well too, and in a close game the thing that happened last went against the bears.

Because they had an extra spot available with Burton's inactive, and felt if multiple injuries struck he'd be better than a player out of position, but not better than a healthy deon bush.

I think the Eagles are good, and still have the best offensive/defensive line combos in the game that finally got healthy, and in a close game they had enough breaks go their way to win. Yeah, the defense should have tackled better that last drive. Yeah, the eagles should have had the deep safety help on that last drive to prevent the bears from driving easily to their 25, but they didn't and then a kicker missed a kick.

Damn feels like Parkey lining up for the GW kick!

That said, never been happier with Trubisky. That drive to lead them to FG position was last box to check. Issue bears had was every other team with kicker problems cut bait before bears knew issue wasn’t correcting itself (Detroit). Pace has had a real dumb policy of never really bringing competition against his kickers. Needs to stop, even if you bring in Gould. Also Allen Robinson is good, don’t spend anything on a WR.

I agree with this. Watson has worst oline of any QB not named manning.

Really tough. Feels like eagles forced bears to their game and bears can’t do same.
