  1. Even if his source is good it doesn't mean Machado is definitely to white sox. Things can change. However, it's nice to hear our names again in a positive direction and not a source of derision.
  2. Fathom your appetite is crazy ha, I hope that bit came right at the beginning of a dodger talk podcast.
  3. As someone that doesn't get that upset about perceived media slights I was also struck by how contemptuous Levine sounded on a radio update this morning (or a replay of his update). There is a weird tendency in baseball media types right now to both moan endlessly about how many teams are tearing it down while also ridiculing any team that adds on when it doesn't align perfectly.
  4. Bucket only appears after midnight when the moon aligns with Venus and mars
  5. This was when Hahn was playing chess and everyone else was playing checkers right? And then they didn’t sign any?
  6. The positive thing that hahn has going for him that kw did not, is the cba changes have estaablisehd cost certainty for both latin america and amateur drafting allow sox to finally be on equal footing. But the negative thing is those changes may have been possible due to the influence JR gets by "walking the walk" in playing by the spirit of the rules before they are formally enforced (i.e. never going over suggested slot value before there was an enforced budget, never breaking the latin american limit until there was an established alternative presented in the cba), but it prevented the sox, I believe, in getting what would have been a huge huge boost to the rebuild: Imagine if in 2015 or 2016 the sox had one of the budget breaking 20-30 player latin american classes coming through the ranks? The counterpoint will be that Robert was that, but had he not been available after those Cba changes, that was on par to be another on budget class and the sox would have spent all of those years having never really splurged despite huge opportunities to do so with a dwindling market of teams available to spend. And though they have said they believe in quantity not quality in players that age, it hasn't borne itself out that impressively. I was more bullish on that 2016 class than anyone. But there are already players from that class making waves. Eventually, you have to say "why is our luck so much worse than everyone elses"? Anyway I love Robert, but that dude really really needs to pan out.
  7. Until the sox can figure out getting production from lat am, they will be playing with one hand tied behind their backs.
  8. Not sure it was possible to crossover since pixar owned his rights for mr. incredible.
  9. I too like to make critiques that can never be disproven because i will just change the degree of what was necessary to make my point valid.
  10. It's not only sox fans complaining that the offseason structure needs to change. NBA free agency is very exciting for nba fans. NFL free agency is very exciting for NFL fans. From what i understand soccer fans enjoy the transfer periods. And mlb fans have been complaining about how slow and tortured its offseason is. - There is no draft - The former flurry of activity (gm meetings) has become less significant over the years - i.e. there is no offseason milestone to guide you, and so you are left with slow trickles of b.s. from fans that just want to know where the team is headed. And so what should be a fun process of seeing a chase for the top 2 free agents in a decade has been a thud even for fans involved in the chase.
  11. all receivers were full participants today. Jackson didn't practice.
  12. I am fully in favor of artificial deadlines to make the offseason more fun to follow. It would also serve in allowing some functional time off for front offices in january. Flurry of activity > slow trickles of activity over months. Would much rather beat a dead horse to the ground of potential lineups than contract opt outs and analyzing instagram. You can't tell me it would meaningfully change team building. The disadvantages would be marginal, to whatever degree teams are gaining from stringing vets along.
  13. He at least seems to be a guy that can be traded for bullpen help if you need it.
  14. Sox should really try to dust off the ole diminished skill clause.
  15. But it just happens to align with the surge of cost controlled talent during that same period. Those years at the end were the ones most likely to be killed by this contract.
