I feel at this point like you are mocking one of our core pieces moving forward.

Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
He’s another guy that should cut down our k rate a bit, but I’m worried what this means for Leury. Leury needs to start liking all of machados posts on IG and showing up at the same clubs. Dude needs to become a fast friend.

Does Manny have any friends that are good?

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Yes, I don’t believe it has been known that any team except white Sox has put anything in writing.

I am not shocked they hired someone others didn’t expect. They have a totally different process that has worked out pretty damn well.

Players have health issues until they don't. I'd rather ride with Leury then if he gets issues hand reigns over to Engel.

FS: Guest Post by Micker Adolfo - Ups and Downs, and what is next
Would love to see Adolfo make another jump this year in plate patience. Would be such a huge boost if he turns out as a player.

I think so many years of salary cap being the bogey man mean that shorter control is more likely. It will negatively impact vets as you say (crowding of market), but i do think they can get solidarity on that push.

Sox Sign Kelvin Herrera; 2 years/$18 mil, 3rd yr club option; Clarkin DFA
Here's why I don't think it's very high stakes, I don't think anyone is blocking anyone, the players with greater than 1 year of control are easily tradeable, and otherwise are one year deals. I also think part of this is to help better gauge how ricky manages, as I do think it's really hard to tell what you have in a manager when you give him bonfire bullpens.

Do you have numbers on that? I'd imagine majority of players are on their first contracts.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Ha, but if you heard him on the radio reporting it, you wouldn't say this. Also he was insufferable on inside the clubhouse this weekend interviewing the cubs new hitting coach complaining about millenials not listening to older people.

Why wouldn't they instead just fight to get paid earlier in career? Reduce 6 years of control to 4 years? That's a better deal for them.

Not bad. Knowing that Colome in arb still gets 7 million has really upped my tolerance for reliever salary.

Well, I think that confirms that this $200 million stuff was definitely too good to be true. Hope sox get it done.

I know I'm not the only one that blames the patriots for putting themselves in the position so often where their kicker has to bail them out.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread
Read my quote "If only the bulls were as aggressive in acquiring picks as they were in acquiring cash they would have some actual value to do things with. " Can you show me what all the cash they've acquired has gone toward and how that is more valuable than the actual players that may get drafted in second round? 2017 they could have used their pick to acquire Dillon Brooks. But they lost that pick in the rose trade, then needed to trade two seconds to get rid of jose calderon for Dwyane Wade to sign for 40 million for 1 year of play.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread
For a team that has been "retooling" for 3 years? They are much more valuable than cash. Most are trash, but there are plenty of nba starters and rotation players that you can find in the second round better than many of the guards and wings the bulls have trotted out recently. And considering the odd chance you can draft a Jokic, it's worth it. Brogdon, morris, brunson, all possible in second round.

oh man, the hosmer deal. Preller is obviously brilliant at finding international talent (this is undeniable), but I wouldn't trust that dude at all to pull the right acquisitions to build a winner. He's like the polar opposite of Dombrowski.
