It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
is it possible to embarrass JR? He has built two organizations around him with the foremost goal of just insulating him from criticism or knowledge of the outside world.

i'm not gonna s%*# on the people at this level, there ain't nothing the marketing team could do here that would have helped. Although it would have been hilarious if the photo included Jeff Luhnow's signature

Ideas for off-season/2024 season Soxtalk banner?

jeeze how many times do we have to tell you, he didn't have the power to do any of the work that sucked underneath him and that's why he deserves to be promoted!

Sort of yes, sort of no. THis is the same title Hahn had, there just isn't a KW anymore. So technically is both, but also KW probably had no real responsibilities that Hahn wasn't also overseeing.

Definitely just feels like learning the wrong lessons from a great org. Braves were able to build an incredible structure and develop talent. But they had the same breakdown, and then started to change, and now have an incredible structure with new ideas that will develop talent. Because they honestly judge the results of their outcomes rather than the effort they are putting into it, they have been able to build a class organization that has the exact same constraints on it that the white sox have, and now have blown past those constraints. This board was obssessed with Alex Anthopolous for years. Oh how much pain could have been avoided if we had a real organization who fired hahn after 2016 and brought him over from his Dodgers gig. I'm even being nice and letting hahn work past 2015.

Bruce often thinks everyone else is as stupid as he is. He was probably earnestly asking who other people in baseball were since he hasn't followed the sport in years.

Looking for any positives
Hopefully our new head of player dev is more promising than our last one.

It’s Harold so guessing the scouts believe they can railroad Getz. Hopefully not the ones that didn’t want to draft Colson because he liked basketball.

I’ve broken through so many “this is the bottom” with this team I just can’t believe this is true.

I guess the only thing nice I'd say about Charlotte is can't remember the last time a decent prospect arrived and stalled in AAA. Not fair - but like a matt davidson or erik johnson. Guys that seemed like they were supposed to be parts of the team that just were withering away. That hasn't happened in a while, so I think the real problem I'd put on Charlotte is that we don't have enough talent in the org to make it competitive. I don't think Charlotte will ever have the sexiest prospect roster, it should have older MILB FAs and guys that know what they are doing and can fill in. We dont' want guys there multiple years. But it shouldn't be the absolute horse s%*# it was for the last 2 years. Never seen worse pitching.

8/30 GAMETHREAD Gibson v. Cease
We should develop this stuff. Hopefully our new GM has a background here.

Interesting.

Sosa with a high flying wRC+ since his callup. But would like to see him improve his walk rate from 0% to like above zero. Colas, smaller progress. But up to 67wRC+ from 47. 47 wRC+ I believe is called "the Leury". 67 I believe is called "The Moncada"

But obviously I do think he's proved himself here, he just hasn't been here THAT long, given his injury.

I would not be upset if he starts next year in birmingham, personally. I think it's one of our best challenges, and with players that may be future teammates and not just random waiver wire guys.

Sox place Clevinger on waivers
I don't think it's something they'll announce unless he's claimed.

hah, no just a product of editing in where Calvin Harris was likely to be and he bumped gonzalez. But ...I'd personally start him in Kanny. Challenging dimensions, good place to showcase your experienced approach by not swinging at trash.

maybe but I wouldn't be surprised if they just called it a season. He had such a weird draft year, hit his innings. Esp with just a few weeks left.

Sox place Clevinger on waivers
maybe this post season deadline creates an artificial dumping ground where teams are more likely to pick them up due to the most reduced salary that still allows them to compete in postseason teams know everyone that will be on waivers so won't have fomo

Things I will look for to see if Getz is actually trying to succeed at building a good baseball team or just being Jerry's Best New Friend: Overhauling all pitching coaches and getting a pitching coordinator that's interesting. College ranks, good org, whatever. Not from the white sox. Firing Marco Paddy. He's a great scout that clearly wants to just hang out with his old pals that have kids Not replacing him with someone who will siphon off money to build a nightclub Firing All "Assistants to the GM" except Thome, who is very nice. Hiring a farm director/head of player dev from outside org That's my gauntlet. I don't give a damn about Grifol right now. Don't even really care about Katz. The future of this org is in the gangly limbs of Colson and Schulz.

Going into next year, I think we will still see: - Trash Charlotte: I think it's completely fair for Colson to be in Charlotte, I also think it's reasonable to start in Birmingham. Pitching wise, Charlotte may have significant improvement in Mena, Nastrini, Cannon, Thompson, Bush, Eder and the returns of Burke, Martin for a bit. Offensively, it will be boosted by probably Ramos/Jose Rodriguez, but the outfield / corners are gonna be ptthpb. - Good Birmingham: To start off the year, this offense of Montgomery, Quero, Veras, Elko, But also likely to see Jacob Burke instead of Yolquei (whom I forgot existed) and Chapelli, who has recovered nicely Pitching wise, I'm a bit optimistic still in group that will obviously include some of the AAA talent that you'd hope perform better in AA - Good W-S Promotions of some good college players in Sprinkle and Calvin Harris, returns of a likely stuck Michael Turner, Brooks Baldwin, Gladney, and Camilleti Probably the return of Schweitzer, start off point for Pallette, Noah Schultz, Carela, Sommer, Vera and Mason Adams - Mediocre Kanny Maybe the college hitters like Nishida, Park, Felix, (perhaps calvin harris is still here) buoy enough offense for tough jumps like Wolkow, Burroughs Will have the starting points for Taylor, probably Keener?, Oppor, McDougal return (maybe) , LaCombe (unless he has tjs) - Good ACL Kinda optimistic after this DSL year. All eyes will be on Magollon, the arrival of Nunez and Flores Pitching had decent years from Chirinos, Jeremy Gonzalez and they actually got 5 IP innings in a lot. Luis Reyes arrival If I'm getz, I sure sure would maybe re-think your pitching coordinator / coach and get someone to try and jumpstart these near mlb guys.
