  1. I’m so excited to be done with reading fake Hahn apologias
  2. If it’s a promotion it’s possible.
  3. If I could circle my one true nightmare it’s Moore. But also an internal hire.
  4. If I was jerry ( I would sell the team and give all my money away in penance) I have maintained that the two orgs most similar in fan support, payroll, and restrictions (I.e. how many draft picks we get, intl budget) are the Astros and braves. Esp the braves. And surely he’s noticed the circles both have run around the Sox. A shame that Hou plucks Dana Brown, as now we are a bit limited. Obviously, I’d be a fan of Click. Mike Fast, currently in ATL, and formerly of Houston; is who I’d circle. I certainly wouldn’t be upset over a Josh Byrnes. I’d be thrilled, but he won’t have the same resources. Id be intrigued by Sig Mejdal in balt. Id also be intrigued by Sam Fuld (Phillies) Now, getting Stearns would be insane, I’d go nuts. I’m not actually that delusional. But it would be phenomenal. I am on board with the love for chernow, just skeptical. But the brewers and guardians built a real pitching development machine that would be a huge advantage. Would die for a true competitive edge.
  5. So the big case for Getz is… he hasn’t really done anything to distinguish himself in what he can control. And he hasn’t had control over a lot. But he should be the second most powerful man in the org anyway just because.
  6. Dayton Moore at least would rule out of the reason we suck is because the players have been jacking off too much. Im skeptical, but only he has the guts to end that and see.
  7. I'm not saying he's good, I am saying what we have in the Charlotte bullpen can absolutely be worse.
  8. Can we actually allow our international group to sign the players they are allowed to sign? Is the owner going to huff and puff about how terrible it would be to sign a 16 year old to 1 million dollars, and how much more wise it will be not to sign anyone for that amount?
  9. Ok but also acting like allocating 16% of your budget to one 5 WAR player is risky while allocating 16% of your budget to three 1-to-negative WAR players that you have to buy out immediately while also compromising your competitive window is absolutely a Reinsdorf phenomenon. Let's not act like our 180M payrolls came with no strings attached. Hahn was an idiot, but many people forced to play in the kiddie pool like he was would look foolish.
  10. My response is this - I think Jerry likes making deals, and he's a lot better at making a deal over the sale of a franchise that includes real estate, assets, media deals, etc than running a baseball team of people who he's now completely unfamiliar with. He starts a sale process, he suddenly has a whole bunch of people sucking up to him, he'll get to feel those last sweet breaths of power. And at what cost? his failsons getting a few less million.
  11. The problem with saying shaw has no role on this team is he's really not preventing anything. I mean...I guess we could bring up that Dodgers reliever we acquired, he's not really ready. Charlotte isn't full of players deserving a chance if only bryan shaw moved out of the way.
  12. All of our top prospects are easy to root for because they are like those kids at the science fair that you know had zero help from their parents but still did a pretty good job.
  13. yeah, though I'll still make my pitch. Here is the scenario where David Stearns goes to the white sox over the mets: - Jerry Reinsdorf really hates cohen and his main motivation in life is just vindictiveness Tha's my pitch. Now if he hired me president (and I will apply, I have an excellent resume of posts documenting the problems with the org, and I am WAY better than WBSWF), I mean I would just tell stearns he can save so much by keeping his milwaukee playpen and he gets to use those private plane services (I'll plant some trees)
  14. I really didn't want them to be able to trade people. I'm sanguine on the trade deadline moves, but would have rather all decisions be deferred to a new decision maker ESPECIALLY now that it was the case just 3 weeks later. Yeah...Quero is probably better than what an extra million in draft budget would be. But at least the extra million goes toward whatever new philosophy this decisionmaker would want.
  15. Because Peter Angelos hired Mike Elias. Terrible owners can still run into good decisions.
  16. I am starting to get excited that a sale may be real. This does seem like the kind of "paint the house, quick renovation" stuff you do prior to one. I mean, the trying to use your fanbase as leverage to get a favorable lease and sell to get the premium from that deal is the biggest sign, but this could be another. If you sell it and you have this bare bones operation, it will come up. If another franchise goes for sale, Jerry won't get a deal. But it's always hard to get a read on this guy. This franchise has been the same for 30 years. Everything the way Getz is being treated is consistent with how firms that are about to fire all the low-level employees treat them (still respectfully and build their profile). But could also be consistent with Jerry actually really liking this nice young man who won't challenge him, and yeah you are hired.
  17. I will eat a hat for James Click.
  18. It’s hard to know whether I’m being an ostrich about these gets reports. I don’t really think much about them because in other examples that’s a nice thing you do for an employee who is likely to be out of a job. But we don’t have many examples of Sox searches for 30 years. And I was an ostrich over the Tony stuff.
  19. There is zero chance that happens.
  20. Ok which of Jerry’s friends are good candidates? Thome?
  21. I will happily root for kang over kodos
  22. Haber already the best Sox GM in last decade
  23. Good riddance. Enjoy running for school board of glencoe Hahn.
  24. What does business even mean here? The competition between the two franchises has led to two pathetic streaks of ineptitude from both franchises. Their actual business competes with butts in the seats and eyeballs from a ton of theatres, restaurants, sports teams, music venues, restaurants, bars, clubs… They have plenty of competition
  25. This is nonsense. Most owners now actually just want to win because they bought a baseball team.
