  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:44 PM) I could watch Yolmer pick baseballs out of the dirt all day long. He has the best hands I've seen on a Sox middle infielder. Better than Alexei even. I guess Crede would compare. I mostly love how he is so good at picking it in a place that he can get a good throw off. He doesn't have a rocket arm but it plays well even at 3b because he is always in position to get it out.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:44 PM) Yolmer is just gritty, great player to have. Also helps how he has raised his power. If he can jump that up this year past this .150 plateau that would be interesting. First 4 years ISO .50 102 149 146 Last year of course he was able to finally get up to a more respectable obp too, so maybe that's more important.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:42 PM) Yolmer is the rare (to this point) entirely-Sox-developed farmhand position player success story Hes essentially our only traditional latam prospect to have an impact in like 15 years? Using traditional to separate the older, more established league players such as Takatsu, Iguchi, A Ramirez, Abreu, etc.
  4. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:26 PM) This is about as bad as Danks starting the home opener a couple of years ago. Noesi was worse.
  5. Bennetti's call of Abreu's home run was great. That is something that develops with more time. Stone and Bennetti during the review process last night were great. That again, will develop with time.
  6. Our franchise has equally been defined by straight gimmickry. Was Hawk a man who wore the team on the sleeve? or just a guy who relied on some good gimmicks for 30 years? Impossible to split the two. When moncada and garcia ran into each other last year, Benetti wasn't cracking wise, he also didn't take his fire pole down to the field. It's the damn TV announcers. Ooh, the prestige and glamour of the yankees as personalized by...Michael Kay Said it before, but if Vin Scully morphed into Bennettis body we'd hear "Shut up with the damn stories and call the game!"
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 05:59 PM) But how do you accumulate those assets picking in the middle of the draft every year? The NBA in it's current format sucks if you're not a fan of the 3-4 teams that realistically have a shot at the title, not point in even playing for the other 27 teams. You don't trade superstars for superstars. You'd just hope to draft well with cheap and interesting guys in middle of the first round. When tanking meant just playing a team of worse players I don't mind it. When it means sitting your best young players because you need to lose to pick 8th, I'm out. More damage is done with that. Firm believer that the reason some of these teams like the spurs are able to develop so well is because there is winning on the line and they find the roles required to win and build up responsibilities than. This is like if 10 teams last year tried to be the padres and play 5-6 rule 5 draft picks, refused to bring up their talented prospects and constantly put good starters on the 10 day dl for fake reasons. We may not win a championship, but lets be real, putting together those superteams is straight up luck regardless. Cavs got saved by a deus ex machina. GS hit jackpot on middle round weird picks and a lateblooming star who took a cheap contract. Rockets build this all with paper clip trading. Celts got to take advantage of the single dumbest trade in the history of mankind, and even then required a disgruntled star to push his way out to truly get to this level which they won't win anything. Time to zig when everyone else is zagging.
  8. W-S is such a better media operation, not that surprised. I wish white sox took a page out of the brewers notebook, who have been really awesome about releasing full org depth charts in nice graphics and weeks ahead of season.
  9. I'm not crazy about him being on the team but this isn't a cody asche situation. He was clearly injured last year. But those most likely to replace him in AAA aren't as versatile defensively. I am worried that he's mainly taking away Sanchez' at bats, which I'm not a fan of.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:40 AM) Fulmer put the guy who scored on base....or am I missing something? No, Pierce singled off of Bummer. There were two runners that Bummer inherited, but one was thrown out at home, so when he scored it should have been on Bummer.
  11. BTW if you didn't see the game, I recommend watching the mlb condensed game of this. There was so much action and a lot of fun. Sloppy defense, but mainly because ball was flying all over field.
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:37 PM) to those that watched him closely at the end of last year -- was this different or new? I admit he surprised me tonight he had it working at times and showed good disposition as a starter (can't let a 2 run inning turng into a 4 run one and so on) which is something reylo also struggles with and reylo did well with that too his first outing. if it's one thing this org knows it's how to develop sp so I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. So far so good the first time through for the kids. Reylo obviously was the most impressive on paper but all three battled and got the job done. I never watched a full game of his in september, but I remember it being a lot more 2 seam fastball and changeup, vs the whole arsenal being deployed in every count tonight.
  13. That was a GREAT game! Holy hell was that entertaining
  14. 2 down. More like the first one please...
  15. Jinx and all but no other team makes me feel like they are constantly about to hit a big home run than when we play Jays.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:53 PM) Agreed, just don't have previous year splits in front of me. He looks way more steady vs righties Feels like he’s definitely protected more vs lefties.
  17. Pitchers can be good too. Not everything is about sox failing.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:50 PM) Has Yolmer always looked his bad vs LHP Loup is awesome.
  19. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:48 PM) Wow, I thought Grichuk was better than that....dude is like 2-25 this year. He’s missing the cardinals fairy dust that turns below average players into slightly above average ones. Also NL
  20. Damn Matt’s lucky that didn’t go up to his face
  21. Looked like ball hit behind glove. I think it’s a single
