  1. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Craig Wilson might be higher in the pecking order than Clark at this point. C'mon if anyone can turn this team around it's Brady Clark.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perhaps he's waiting until after we play the Cubs? Our fans put a lot of stock into that series and would like our best chance to sweep the northsiders. Yes. Kenny should trade for a bunch of veterans before the flubs series and then unload them after the series.
  3. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> would you rather have... 3B= Fields LF= Mackowiak CF= Owens/Terrero or 3B= Mackowiak LF= Terrero/Fields CF= Owens (when healthy) I'd rather not watch.
  4. Didn't look there obviously. Anyway, additionally, the Dodgers have Elbert, DeWitt Kershaw. I mean if we could couple Dye and Iguchi for 3 of these young guys, it could be huge for the Sox. I hope Kenny goes the LA route.
  5. LA seems like the perfect fit. Also, the Sox might be able to move Iguchi there. Kent could move to third base and that would help the Dodgers both defensively and offensively. If the Sox could send both players there, I would want them to ask for either Billingsley or Broxton along with either Laroche or Kemp. I know Laroche plays third but he looks real good and depending on how confident the Sox are with Fields they still might want him. Anyway, the matchups look real good. Dye and Iguchi could really take the Dodgers far and in turn they definitely have the young talent that the Sox need.
  6. I think Buehrle should be traded now - assuming there is an excellent offer out there. He's been pitching great so he won't get any better and he could get injured in the next month - then they would really lose out big time. Dye is banged up and not hitting well. They have to give him some rest and hope that he comes back and gets hot - then immediately trade him. If he's hitting there will be significant interest. Iguchi ? Well, he's on a 12 game hitting streak but what contender really needs a second baseman ? I would love to see them get something valuable for him. Crede is untradeable right now. The return that the Sox get for Buehrle and Dye will be absolutely critical to this franchise's future.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With the way this team has been playing I hope Floyd is up after the trade deadline. It would be really nice if we trade Dye and got Billingsly too. Have Floyd, Billingsly, and Danks altogether and probably promote Gio to AAA and depending on results maybe up in the rotation next year. Yes, it would be great if Floyd could do a pretty good job in Buehrle's spot come late July. The Sox could get a bundle for Mark and if they trade Dye to LA...well...Billingsley would be good but I'm holding out for him and Broxton both. Would that be too much ? Maybe not if Jermaine would get hot !
  8. I like our second pick better than our first. I really think this kid is going to turn out good. I'm anxious to get him signed and on the field.
  9. The sooner that he has surgery, the better it will be for everyone- the Sox, Crede and BORASS. This is what the Sox tried to explain to him at the end of last season but Crede wouldn't listen.
  10. I was at the game last night. Dullest game that I've ever been to in my life. If it wasn't for my interest in seeing how Josh Fields looks, I would have wanted to leave after 4 innings. I left after 7 anyway. Dye doesn't look disinterested. He looks old and slow. Rongey is ok. Yes, he sticks pretty much to the company line but hey...the guy has an employer with certain expectations. Not that anyone on here would ever do their job a certain way just because they have mouths to feed. Also, half the callers are idiots and think they're the first ones to discover that the Sox aren't playing well and they are now informing the rest of the world. They really have nothing else to say. I'd shoot myself if I had to listen to these boozed up tools over and over again.
  11. If Fields, Gio, Sweeney and the gang all turn out to be not much of anything, this team will be bad for a long time. They need to get s few stars out of their 20 top prospects or they become a joke. The only way that it won't be is if the Sox spend big bucks on a number of free agents and who thinks that will happen ?
  12. I'm not super confident that Fields will become a star but I'm ddefinitely willing to give him a chance to prove that he won't be. I say trade Crede now or after the season and give the job to Fields. He'll probably be pretty decent all-around and the Sox will be set at 3rd inexpensively for years. If they see he's a bust after a while, it's not like it's that hard to find another guy if they're willing to pay. Go Fields !
  13. The truth is that if all it takes is a bullpen arm to get Dukes, the Sox should do it. The guy could end up being a great player for a long time and maybe...just maybe a decent enough guy. And, if he doesn't ? It's not like they gave up anything special.
  14. What would lead anyone to believe that adding one player to this team is going to turn this season around ? We probably need to add 2 more excellent relievers and atleast 2 more solid bats. Should the Sox bother or just rebuild toward next year ?
  15. Intersting note that there are 2 guys tied for the M.L. lead in RBI's at 52 - Ordonez and Lee. And, Sosa is 8th in the A.L. with 42. Dye is tied for 66th in M.L. with 29. I'm not saying....I'm just saying. I was in favor of all of the Sox deals involving these players. Although, I really wanted them to trade Ordonez before the season that he got injured because I could just tell that he wasn't going to re-sign with the Sox. That's why I don't want to end up getting nothing for Dye or Buehrle.
  16. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought you wanted to sign Dye to a $60 million, four year contract last offseason? I'm glad that move didn't go down, we'd really be in for some trouble. In answer to your question, NO. And this whole "Twins" system thing is overrated...Punto, Bartlett and Castillo came from other teams and/or minor league systems. Same with Jason Tyner. Lew Ford came from the Red Sox. Rondell White, ditto. We don't need their system, we need Gardenhire, but that's not going to happen either. You do have to give them some credit for David Ortiz, but something obviously held him back in the Twin Cities, right? He went from an average, overweight AL DH to the most-feared hitter in the American League in the span of two years. Otherwise, you're left with Mauer, Cuddyer, Hunter and Morneau...all great players. But we could compare that to, well, Magglio, Carlos Lee, Crede and Rowand, coming up quite a bit short (although both of those former Sox outfielders would look good about right now, but not for those salaries and contract years). Don't misquote me about Dye. I said that they should have extended him early in the 2006 season when he showed that 2005 was not a fluke and they could have signed him for much less and shorter term - say 3 / $ 30. It doesn't look that great now but I could live with that. They would be down to needing to acquire only 2 more outfielders for next year. Anyway, you can say what you want but the Twins drafting and payer development FAR exceeds the White Sox in success. Not even close. This year is the perfect example. The offense blows at just about every position and the Sox have NO help to bring up. The bullpen is a disaster and the Sox have NO help to bring up. Why have a minor league system if it's worthless ?
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tampa Bay wants a relief pitcher for Elijah Dukes if the other team is willing to put up with him. His price would be pretty low right now and could probably be had for McDougal. Would you do it? No way, no a**holes (Albert Belle) on this team. That would ruin the sterling reputation( A.J.) of the White Sox. No drug using( Dan Pasqua) or scandal causing( Juan Uribe) players allowed on this team. Also, no surliness( Dick Allen) of any kind may be tolerated. Unless, he wants the Sox to sign him to an expensive long term contract. That would be different.
  18. I was just thinking about the upcoming draft and I was wondering if there was a way that the White Sox could draft the players and then pay the Twins organization to teach them how to play baseball ? Or better yet, pay the Twins organization to also draft the players for the White Sox. How much would this service be worth ? The Twins are hoping to fund a new stadium. Maybe they could use the money. I know that I would personally contribute to this effort.
  19. Do we have to bring up guys from the Sox farm system ?
  20. Dye for Abreu ? Something most be wrong with my computer. It's stuck in 2001 .
  21. All you need to know about the Sox farm system is that there are no players that could be brought up that will make a difference.
  22. I know a guy that knows someone that knows Reinsdorf and he says that the Sox are working on a revolutionary organizational plan - they will start mixing and rotating players from all 3 rosters (Chicago, Birmingham and Charlotte ). This way they won't get stuck in that rut of having to actually have 25 Major League players on the team.
  23. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just heard it on WSCR. Sweeney and Anderson have gotten a shot, I'm thinking Ozzie and KW are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with Owens. Atleast he's been hot at the plate for a while now and he can steal bases. He has no power. I guess that he'll play left because I hear his arm is weak and he's not really a CFer. He really might spark the offense.
  24. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kalapse the one thing I really like about your comments is the use of young and hungry. It appears the Cleveland Indians are just that, and the White Sox are not. I see a guy like Thome being hungry and also believe he is too much a pro to not be. Several of the others I have my doubts. Jenks looks hungry.
