QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ozzie's continued mishandling of the bullpen is making it hard for me to like him. Yes, Ozzie is mishandling the bullpen by using it. If only he could figure out a way to handle the bullpen properly without ever having to actually bring any of the pitchers(exc. Jenks) into the game. That's the tricky part. It must be a deficit in Ozzie's intellect.

I feel sorry for Kenny Williams at this point. People are expecting him to trade Buehrle and Dye for 10 of Baseball America's top 20 prospects. Geez, I hope he gets more than 10.
-
I doubt very highly that Mark signs an extension with the Mets forgoing his only shot at free agency in the prime of his career and also not giving the Cardinals any chance to sign him. However, if him signing an ext. with the Mets brings the Sox Pelfrey, Milledge and Humber then I hope to hell he does. Without the ext., I think the Sox would be lucky to get 1 of their outfielders and 1 of their pitchers. That would be a good deal for the Sox. I doubt that the Sox include Dye because they most likely do better splitting them up and raiding 2 farm systems. I'd rather give the Dodgers Dye and Iguchi for Billingsley if we could get it. And, I'd rather have Pelfrey than Humber. I'd also rather have Gomez or Martinez than Milledge. But, if the Sox can end up with 2 elite pitching prospects and 1 elite outfield prospect for these 2 it would be great. What could they get for Iguchi ? Has anyone heard anything ? Any speculation on what he could bring back ?
-
I'm not sure that I can see the point of trading our relievers. They are all inexpensive and young so that they are likely to improve and so we want them back. Besides, Jenks is the only one that's been good so what could we get for any of these guys ? Would it even be worth it ? Could we get a really good position prospect ? I doubt it.
-
Almost all of those players are average or below. The few that aren't like the outfielders will sign for way beyond the Sox range. I'll bet right now that the Sox don't sign any free agent that'll get anyone excited. Unless, Rowand excites you.

KW will not trade Dye or Buehrle
WHITESOXRANDY replied to striker's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(striker62704 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm betting KW does not trade Dye or Buehrle. I'm betting he is holding this team together to see if they will turn it around. Yes they are 9.5 games but the Astros and Twins both started off bad and came back to make the playoffs. He basically has two options: 1. He holds onto Dye and Buehrle to see if the team turns it around. Best Case Scenario: They turn it around and make the playoffs Worst Case Scenario: They don't make the playoffs. Dye and Buehrle walk via FA, Sox get draft picks, Buehrle and Dye are replaced with Sweeney and Gio/Lance/Gavin. Sox free up $16mil to spend elsewhere. 2. He trades Dye & Buehrle Best Case Scenario: Sox get more major league talent and are ready to compete again next year. Free up $16mil for next year. Worst Case Scenario: Injuries and overhyped prospects keep the Sox at or below .500 #1 really does make the most sense, no matter how bad our team is playing. We don't HAVE to trade Dye and Buehrle. We have replacements for them within the organization or via FA with the money we save when they leave. If KW sees any chance and saving this season he is going to do it. I think he is more of a win today player than a rebuilder. We still have alot of games left with MIN, DET and CLE. We can turn the season around. The question is will we. I know this isn't what the Sox fans want to hear because we are all so frustrated, but its probably the truth. The only way I see KW making a trade is if it is a no brainer and we get tons of talent. This all proves exactly why Kenny HAS to trade them. We have replacements for those 2 guys. But, we need replacements at CF, LF, SS and 2B. Where will the Sox get them ? -
Obviously, I don't know anytthing for sure but the Mets are a little down on Milledge right now so I would be stunned if they wouldn't give up atleats him for Buehrle. Plus Buehrle is clearly the biggest impact player out there in this year's trade market so the bidding should be pretty high. From the Mets, who are loaded with talent at the minor and major league levels and loaded with money, the Sox should be able to acquire 2 excellent prospects for Buehrle. Also, the Mets have been slumping and the Braves and Phils are now on their heels. If they don't pick it up soon, I would expect them toget desperate and this could work out very well for the Sox.

Aaron Cunningham Traded to Zona for IF Danny Richar
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> White Sox acquire infielder Richar from Arizona for outfielder Cunningham CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have acquired infielder Danny Richar from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for outfielder Aaron Cunningham. Richar will be optioned to Class AAA Charlotte. Richar, 24, hit .285 (76-267) with 20 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 46 RBI and 40 runs scored in 66 games with Class AAA Tucson in 2007. He appeared in 50 games at second base and 16 at shortstop. The 6-foot-0, 170-pounder ranked second last season in the Southern League in runs scored (79), fourth in hits (140) and tied for fourth in average (.292) and was named to the league's mid-and-postseason All-Star Teams. Richar owns a .281 (678-2,410) average over six minor-league seasons in the Diamondbacks organization. Cunningham, 21, batted .294 (74-252) with 12 doubles, five triples, eight home runs and 37 RBI in 67 games with Class A Winston-Salem in 2007. The 40-man roster now stands at 40. I'll go down as saying that I think this is a great move for the Sox. I give Kenny props here. This could should be the Sox starting second baseman nect year and he could surprise a lot of people. He really didn't give up anything - Cunningham has a very small chance to ever become an impact player in the big leagues. -
And, then Dye will blow out his knee and be on the DL until August so we can't trade him. Buehrle will go thru a bad stretch in July and teams will start saying he's lost it again or hurt just like last year and the Sox won't get a good enough offer for him. So not to piss off the fans ,they keep him and try to re-sign him after the season but he goes elsewhere for some ridiculous offer. You know that it's going to be a half-assed rebuilding process.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is your problem - you think Buehrle is gone. I don't see it that way. I think they can re-sign Buehrle. Then they just need a 5th starter. Go get a mediocre veteran for the 5th spot like they did in 2005 with El Duque. Bring up a rookie - that tall drink of water - Russell or even Floyd. With a lineup of Ichiro, Thome, Konerko, Cabrera, Crede, AJ, Rowand they should be able to score more runs and they should be a better fielding team. Oh so, the Sox are going to re-sign Buehrle at what 5 years $ 75 mil ? Then, sign Ichiro at what 4 years $ 70 mil ? Sign Rowand @ about 4 years $ 30 mil. Oh, and pay Cabrera $ 10-15 mil. a year over the next few years. And, re-sign Crede with Boras. Yes, you're right this would be a good team. We should also trade for AROD and extend his contract SINCE BILL GATES IS NOW THE OWNER OF THE WHITE SOX. I wish people would inform me of these things.

Who are some options for us at SS in 2008
WHITESOXRANDY replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Ok. Wilson and Bay for Uribe and Anderson. Let's give Pitt some salary relief. -
I would rather see the Sox get one player back for Buehrle and have that player have superstar potential. What's the point of adding a couple of more prospects the level of a Sweeney, Fields or Anderson. We've all seen how that can turn out. Either get a stud prospect or 2 solid but proven position players. I like the Cano and Tabata for Buehrle and Iguchi. The Yankees might do that. Tabata has very high upside. Then, I'd try to add something along with Dye to try to get Billingsley. The Sox can't trade Contreras now unless they get a guy they can put in the rotation from the Buehrle and Dye trades. They can bring up one pitcher from the farm but not 2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mark, Jon, and John as the core with Gio up struggling and a rotating door at 5. Unless the Sox are going to be completely blown up, you hang on to Vazquez. They need to hold onto Vazquez until atleast after 2008 and I would try to extend Garland now. I think that he'll only get better.

QUOTE(DaGame2584 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are the following trades possible or should I drop the x box controller? White Sox Get: C. Billingsley & J. Loney(or A. Either) Dodgers Get: J. Dye White Sox Get: Salty & J. Devine & K. Johnson Braves Get: M. Buehrle & T. Iguchi & M. MacDougal White Sox Get: A. Reyes Cardinals Get J. Contreras + cash Tell me what you think about these deals. I think I stretched the Sox/Braves deal too much. I originally thought Salty & Devine for Buehrle. So do I play too much x box or what? I'm almost certain that the Dodgers wouldn't give us Billingsley alone for Dye. The Braves might give us Salty alone for Buehrle, Iguchi and MacDougal. I'm pretty sure that the Cardinals would give us Reyes for Contreras and no cash. I think the Sox can do better than this. Reyes is way too much of a ? talentwise and healthwise. Those are my opinions.

Quit worrying. Cooper will have them all turned around by next week.

Realistic Best/Worst Case Scenerios for 2007?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The best case is that the Sox unload as many veterans as they can and turn them into several ELITE prospects. The Sox have too many holes to become really good in the next year or two without either gaining a quantity of top prospects that pan out or spending a ton of money in the free agent market. Considering the state of their farm system, the Sox may need to do both in order to have much future success. And, what are the odds of that happening ? -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First of all, you're not going to get a player with Dukes' talent for a reliever ever unless said player is in A ball. And there are easier ways of bringing in players with talent. Like rebuilding the team. One player will not make or change this team, and it is literally almost homer or nothing for him, seeing as how he has a BABIP of like .140. Easier ways of bringing in players with talent like that ? Is that why Kenny brought in so many ? The point is the Sox have none. As in none. There is no one in the organization ranked as high as Dukes. This year they brought up Sweeney,Owens, Fields, Bukvich, Prinz, Aardsma, Masset, Gonzalez, Terrero, Anderson etc. - ALL FAILED. Not a good big leaguer in the bunch. But, you are right . We need more than just Dukes. We need 3 more top talents like him to rebuild. But, getting each one is crucial. Right now, he can be had for a decent reliever. I'm pretty sure about that. We'll see soon enough. I'm not saying it's a guarantee but I'd take the chance. The Sox are in deep doo doo right now.
-
Dukes is a piece of sh*t. The Sox should give up MacDougal for him. The reason is that he's still very young with HUGE upside - something this Sox team is very unfamiliar with. Either he'll stay a total loser and in that case the Sox won't be losing much. Or, maybe, his agent or someone will talk some sense into him and get him into counseling and get him to realize that he needs to make a lot of money and the only way is to become the best player that he can be and keep his nose out of trouble. If that happens the Sox win BIG ! It's worth a try. Things are desperate and ugly on the South Side as it is.

I think the Sox should trade Iguchi for a prospect and bring him up. They have nothing to lose.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would sign Rowand then ? A bouquet to the fans ? Rowand is the youngest FA Cfer out there. And, we have to have some guys that we KNOW can play. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No one is forcing you... Unfortunately, Sox attendance will feel this impact as well. I'm interested in watching Fields because he is a legitimate prospect but Owens, Terrero, Mack. are nothing - not prospects and not good big leaguers. No reason to watch.
-
Yeah, I've got him penciled in for the 5th spot in next year's Sox rotation.

I only have one piece of advice for the Sox in 2008: GO YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG and YOUNG I might sign Rowand but that's it. Rebuild it right.
