  1. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Than Mark? I'm not sure I'd say that. They're not going to extend both of these guys - that'd be at least $110 million in guaranteed money. Then, why are we are even watching ?
  2. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What if the Tigers, Indians and Twins all offered the Sox to trade any 2 players on their roster to the Sox for any 2 of theirs ? Would the Sox make the playoffs then ? What trades would you make ? Just for fun obviously. Tigers: Maggs and Granderson for Terrero and Gonzalez Indians: Sizemore and Peralta for Uribe and Pods Twins: Santana and Nathan for Masset and Bukvich Rotation: Santana, Garland, Buehrle, Javy and Danks Bullpen: Nathan, Jenks, Logan, Contreras, Thornton and MacDougal Lineup: Sizemore, Granderson, Maggs, Thome, Konerko, Peralta, A.J., Iguchi and Fields Dye - 4th OF/ DH If this happened tomorrow would the Sox win the division ? Is there a different combination that would win it for them ?
  3. How ironic it would be that after last night's game Buehrle is the one to go .
  4. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mark Buehrle to St. Louis in exchange for Jamie Garcia and Anthony Reyes.. No link for this, just something I read somewhere on a STL message board, someone said he had heard that 3rd hand...just another name in the hat The Sox would insist on them including Rick Ankiel. Cooper can fix him. 3 aces for 1. How could a Sox fan complain ?
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They have been playing much better since he came back, i would hate to see him miss anouther 10-15 straight games.... Argh it must be nice to have a healthy leadoff hitter on your team!! If only the Sox could get the other teams to postpone these games for days when Pods and Erstad are healthy. It's just so unfair!
  6. I think Mark is willing to give the Sox a sweetheart deal at 4/ $ 56. I think the reason Kenny won't give the NTC is because he doesn't want to pay Mark $ 56 mil. for 4 seasons and therefore wants to be able to trade him. That's why they are willing to blow the deal over the NTC. Mark's Sox career is over and he will be traded. Hey, we'll always have 2005 even if it sucks being a Sox fan for the next 10 years or so. And, while the flubs win the division this year and have some playoffs seasons playing in the Commedy Central while the Sox figure out what a real rebuilding process should be.

  8. It's a shame. Buehrle has made it very clear to everyone that he truly wants to continue to play for the White Sox . He's willing to accept far LESS money from the White Sox than he would from other teams just to stay here. The guy has done nothing but produce excellent results, be a consummate teammate, good citizen and an favorite during his years in this organization. Yet, the Sox are balking at signing him to a below market contract - an opportunity that would make almost every other Major League team salivate. Wow. This one would hurt a Sox fan's loyalty. Let's hope it's not true and it gets done. Bite the bullet and sign him. I think most Sox fans would be happy if the team kept only Mark, Garland, Javy, Konerko, Thome and A. J. as the only "big" contracts for next year and filled in the rest of the team with youngsters. Unload Dye, Contreras, Iguchi, Crede, Uribe, Erstad, Pods, Mackowiack and MacDougal for whatever you can get and move on.
  9. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It amazes me that people still complain about that trade. I'm not seeing that it won't turn out to be a really good trade. It's already been good due to Garcia's injury. However, Floyd and Gio have yet to pitch a game for the Sox so anything can still happen. They are not sure to do anything for the Sox yet.
  10. Thanks for sharing that. I really enjoyed reading that story.
  11. If the Sox extended this 4-game winning streak to 30 games, they would be 59-42 and STILL in 3rd place. That's about what it would take for people to take them seriously. They would need to win about 25 more in a row or atleast something like 22-3 over their next 25.
  12. I really like the Richar pickup but it still appears to be a gamble. It could turn out to be a really good one. It seems that defensively, he'll never come close to Uribe but he with some improved consistency he could be atleast adequate at second. Then, if he can really learn to use his speed and he can clearly hit - he could turn into a pretty good offensive force. He's still a little raw for being 24 but if he refines himself within a couple of years, the Sox could make out big with a really nice player.
  13. I'd love for Kenny to find another GM that's in love with all of those peripherals and get a nice haul for Javy. Then, the Sox can fill some holes and find a pitcher with some guts that can pitch well when in crucial games that matter and come thru with the wins when it really counts - a guy with the brains and stomach to get the job done. I noticed that in all of this talk about Javy no one mentioned his W-L record. Interesting. I like that Garland guy that won 18 games last year and the year before. And, that Buehrle guy that wins 60 % of the time. I'll take a couple more like that and let everyone else count the strikeouts.
  14. If they trade Javy, Kenny better get back atleast the value of Chris Young, El Duque and Vizcaino.
  15. Extending Garland and then trading Javy and Contreras could bring back enough to really help the Sox next year- especially if they sign a good F.A. or two.
  16. I have a feeling that the deal is getting done. I think it's definitely going to be more than $50 mil. Anyway, I'm happy if it does get done. Shocked but happy.
  17. New report out of Los Angeles station.....wait I'm hearing it now....sign and trade....Buehrle to L.A. for.....Kobe Bryant.....Luol Deng to start for the White Sox.
  18. It was a just a joke. Although if we got Dukes cheap enough, it would be ok with me.
  19. It's been confirmed. They've offered Elijah Dukes.
  20. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, you are assuming that other teams are going to offer him Zito-type money? No, I think they'll do what the Sox did and insult him by offering him 3 years for $ 34 mil. Ofcourse, they'll offer him pretty close to Zito money - atleast $ 80 mil. The White Sox haven't made a serious offer to him (I know that I can't be certain because I am not every other person in the world- good argument).
  21. I'm glad that Kenny's the GM too. Because, if he wasn't the White Sox would be the worst team in all of baseball. Oh wait, they are. # 1 pick here we come. We're going to get the best available player in the draft....that isn't a Boras client or doesn't have large bonus demands.
  22. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Buehrle and Anderson: Yankees for Hughes and Farnsworth Contreras and Iguchi: Mets for Humber, Martinez and PTBNL (fringe prospect) Dye: Dodgers for DeJesus Jr and Loney Mackowiak: Brewers for 2 fringe prospects If you can get this done, I'll be you a lifetime pass to Sox park. I'll do it for anyone that can do this. I don't think the Yanks would give the Sox Hughes for all of the players you mentioned.
  23. So, some of you think that the Sox would rather pay Mark many many millions of dollars more by waiting until after the season to try to sign Mark when all of the other 29 teams can make offers to him than sign him right now ? Well, I guess that's what dreams are for.
  24. I suppose you guys are enjoying the 2007 season. Without a serious rebuilding process the Sox will be battling KC in the standings for many years - not Detroit, Cleveland or Minnesota. The depth that those franchises have is so far beyond the White Sox it's almost a joke. The Sox need to bite the bullet for 2 years and go completely young to have any chance of winning this division in the next 10 years.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I'm thinking he'll probably be a .700-.950 OPS player. .950 is a heckuva lot better than .700. I'm hoping atleast .800
