Expect big years from Contreras and Crede
WHITESOXRANDY replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Talentwise, I have always been a Crede fan and supporter. If healthy, I would expect a 25-30 homer, 80-90 rbi with a .270-.280 avg. season. However, 2 things bother me about Crede now. Firstly, his back issues - which I understand could be chronic. And, secondly that Boreass is his agent will soon affect his future with the Sox. Unfortunately, I think that the Sox need to deal pre-emptively with Crede and look to unload him at the best possible juncture. Ofcourse, replacing him with a 3b that is solid defensively and offensively won't be easy. And, it doesn't appear that Josh Fields will be the answer unless he surprises. I wonder if it would be easier to trade for a ss and move Uribe to 3rd ? Contreras for Rollins ? -
I'm hearing that due to Mackowiak's versatility that the Sox will only carry 21 players this year. Anyone else hear this ? Supposedly, he can start and close as well as drag the field and sell dip'ndots.

This puts the hammer in Boras' hand because he gets to deal with whatever new team the Sox trade the player to(whether it is arbitration or a contract), and get the deal he wants to make his client happy, and get his big cut. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does Boreass really make his clients happy ? Like AROD, JAGGLIO, ETC. These guys are happy for about half a season. Then, the peabrains realize that they are in a s***ty place playing for a s***ty team with people they don't like. And then, the lightbulb goes off and they think gee I could have stayed where I was happy and still made a ton of money but instead I listened to BOREASS who told me how important it was to get even more money. Guys like Crede get what they deserve!

I looked up his stats and, as a reliever, he always got past the 5th inning.

No, I think it was the pit bull....I mean pit boss.
-
This is very current but I hope that the Sox pull option # 2 off the table. I would rather keep all 6 starters than trade away McCarthy.
-
KW is in the drivers seat now - just like Baltimore with Tejada. They don't have to trade him. They can just wait for some team to puke. A team that really becomes desperate for a starting pitcher and has to pay thru the nose for one. Leverage is a good thing.

I'm sure that the Sox would like to have Blalock and Texas wants Garland. The Sox would make Texas take Crede but then we need atleast one of their top pitching prospects maybe 2. But, Texas needs to sign Garland long term before this deal can happen because they're not giving all of this up knowing that Garland can walk at the end of the season AND Crede's agent is BOREASS.
-
CREDE'S AGENT IS BOREASS ! GOODBYE ! END OF STORY.
-
That we included Chris Young in this deal is the main reason that I hate this trade - although I understand why KW made the deal. I think Young is going to be great - better than Cameron. There are no guarantees but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him on future All-Star teams. The other reason that I don't like the trade is that I don't think that Vazquez is that good.
-
KW NEEDS to trade Garland and Crede now. The best trading partner is probably Texas. They have Blalock, Wilkerson and some good pitching prospects. There is a good chance that a deal could be worked out here.
-
I LOVE THAT DEAL ! EVEN IF THE SOX DON'T WANT WILKERSON AND LIKE B. ANDERSON, THEN THEY CAN EASILY MOVE WILKERSON FOR SOME GOOD BULLPEN HELP. HE IS A PLAYER THAT WOULD BE IN DEMAND. THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE SOX.
-
GARLAND AND URIBE FOR TEJADA IS PERFECT FOR BOTH TEAMS. NEXT YEAR THE BOTH OF THEM MAKE ALMOST THE SAME MONEY AS TEJADA. THE O'S WOULD OVERPAY TO KEEP GARLAND LONG TERM. TEJADA IS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE GAME. HE IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SOX NEED. THE SOX WOULD BE STUPID TO TRADE McCARTHY. HE "MIGHT" BE OUR BEST STARTING PITCHER RIGHT NOW AND HE WILL BE CHEAP FOR YEARS !
-
I say that this trade never happens anyway.
-
I WOULDN'T TRADE CHRIS YOUNG STRAIGHT UP FOR VAZQUEZ. VAZQUEZ IS NOT THAT GOOD. THESE RUMORS BETTER BE WAY OFF BASE OR KW IS TRYING TO GO TO THE WELL ONCE TOO OFTEN.
-
Isn't it a wild coincidence that he had Tommy John surgery ?
-
I believe there was some tension in the locker room about the way Tony lives his life and it may have clashed with the rest of the ballclub. "the way Tony lives his life" - what does that mean ?

The dump in loserville...
-
NO !!!!!!!!!!
-
Why pay # 10 mil. a year for an old closer. A team can pick a young one up that throws 100 mp with a wicked curve for nothing ?
-
How about "We're not the flubs"
-
I think that guy Bartman is a Sox fan. (TEAL)

ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SPLIT WITH CLEVELAND ! I say if Ozzie plays the Cleveland series as though it were the playoffs, then we would win and it would be a good test.

Unfortunately, right now, this franchise has to pay money to have a drawing card on the team. That's why I still think that they should try to trade for Griffey. The Sox still need to put people in the seats. Even the best record in baseball doesn't fill the house now. Other than Bonds, who wouldn't come here and we don't want, I don't think there is anyone else available to draw people to the park.
