J.B. Shuck to the Twins
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) You weren't 'joking', you were being a sarcastic jagbag that didn't contribute anything to the thread. Yeah he means the world to me. I got 3 Shuck jer-tees, an autographed picture with me and him, and a Shuck White Sox signed jersey in my man cave. I was just throwing some White Sox news out there, ya know, considering he was on the MLB roster parts of the past 2 seasons. Dude what the hell?

New BA White Sox Top Ten
On the Danish topic, I've kind of never understood why people think he'll be a good reliever. Maybe he can be a decent long man but that's all I see him being in the bullpen. Still think he has a better chance to be a starter(which at this point I don't think is going to happen either) than he does to be a back end of the pen arm.

New BA White Sox Top Ten
Outside of Moncada being number 1 I feel like 2-10 can be all over the place for different people. Personally: 1. Moncada 2. Kopech 3. Giolito 4. Collins 5. Lopez 6. Fulmer 7. Hansen 8. Basabe 9. Dunning 10. Burdi

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Trading a star in this league is a foolish notion...period. When it is a star who is signed to a mega cheap deal, it is even more foolish. Having Butler makes it far more likely to contend then not having him. I don't believe the Wolves were ever willing to include Lavine. The Boston deal was more likely and even in that deal, you weren't getting loaded...maybe you get lucky on whatever the Nets next pick becomes. I'm not saying front office is great or we are great, but trading Butler would have been an awful thing to do. Once again, you're entitled to your opinion on Jimmy and The Bulls, the thing that I'm taking exception to here is calling people foolish like you've been proven right on something so far. There's nobody on this site who thinks Jimmy is a bad basketball player. The people who want him traded don't believe he can be the best player on a championship team, that his ego has outgrown his abilities and that we're going to be stuck in NBA hell with him around. And so far that's all that has been proven, so to call people foolish is foolish. And it was widely reported that the package being offered was Dunn and Lavine cause they wouldn't give up Wiggins but once again you're entitled to believe what you want to.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) When you have a star, or in this case a star and an aging star, there is always a way out. Its a star league...they aren't going anywhere with this roster, but all of you who wanted to deal Butler for Dunn and a couple other middling picks are looking awfully foolish. Stars in the NBA don't grow on trees. Gar and company have failed to surround that talent with the right players, but the team will need to pivot and whether it is Chris Paul or others, they need to find a way to replace Rondo with an upgraded point guard plus add more shooting / enhanced talent off the bench. Ideally, you'd upgrade the bigs as well, albeit Lopez / Taj are the least of the Bulls worries. The terrible bench and the fact that Rondo stinks are the major things separating them from being an upper echelon team (I didn't say title contender, cause they'd need to find at a total superstar plus enhance depth and even then, with the Warriors so talented, it will be hard to address). Like really? First off, the deal was going to include Lavine and Dunn. Second, I don't think anyone was jumping at the deal. I want Butler traded cause this team is never going anywhere with him as the number 1 guy but I certainly wasn't jumping at the proposed deal of the Wolves. And calling anyone foolish right now with this team still stuck in the mud is pretty ridiculous.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) That being said, not really sure what the expectations of the Bulls should be. Hoidberg is no Popovich, but the Bulls roster is kind of a Frankenstein's monster. I think the real problem is the front office, the roster is just stuck in the middle with no conceivable way out. Exactly how I feel.

Impossible not to like that guy. Him and Pop are seriously one of the best duos in NBA history. Damn.

White Sox sign Derek Holland
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Hahn has already said that Giolito and Lopez will start in AAA. I'm someone who never cares about "rushing" prospects as I usually feel it's better for development but there's absolutely no reason to start either of them in the majors. No reason to use up service time right now.

**World Soxtalk Championship Wrestling IV Thread**
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) It should matter to a point. The biggest stars in WWE history pretty much all had good physiques and are more marketable to make money. Joe is Samoan so his body type fits. KO has good matches but I'm sort of getting tired of his act already. If you take Jericho away, not sure I would care to see him right now. It shouldn't matter at all in my opinion. It's almost 2017 and despite what drew in the 80's and 90's a lot of this stuff has already changed or will change. The older wrestling guys get stuck in their ways at times and that's why people are afraid to change it but I don't think having a bigger physique really should matter. Also couldn't disagree with you more on KO. They haven't given him much to work with and he's still been doing great stuff.

White Sox sign Derek Holland
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) Up to $8 million for Holland of all people? Ugh. I was hoping it'd be half that. Who cares? It's a one year deal and it's not like the Sox are hurting for money right now.
-
Could you root for Sox losses
Yes. If I think it's the best thing for the long term health of the franchise then it's an easy thing for me to do. Cheer for the young/core players of the team and hope the others somehow blow games.

Sox a finalist for Derek Holland
QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:55 PM) Short-term deals for inning eaters. It's a solid plan for the 2017 squad. Yup. Makes sense to me.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) I have a hard time believing we were ever actually close for Cabrera. Our rumored deal was sooooooooo much worse than Detroits. I think Marlins just used us, and Kenny was more than happy to act like he landed a big fish (PUN INTENDED!) What was the rumored deal again? For some reason, I don't remember it at all.

White Sox looking to deal Robertson
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Robles isn't even worth Lopez That's not true. Even if you like Lopez, Robles definitely has the higher thought of value at this point.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) I think there is a real possibility he ends up with the Rams. That said, I'd be more convinced in a year or two, especially if he wins a National Title at Michigan. At some point, Harbaugh is coming back to the NFL. I really can't see Jim leaving Michigan just yet. You brought up McDaniels, I think there's a better chance he ends up in LA than Harbaugh at this moment.

Salary Relief
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) It is why I would be open to a trade for Q that also included us taking on a McCarthy, especially if it maximized the upside pieces we could get (and I think that would be an easier sale across the board for the Dodgers front office). Do we have to trade them a Soxtalk poster if we're getting one back in return?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) he's paid fairly enough to take it. That said, no, he didn't deserve it. He is a scapegoat for the orgs failure. He busted his ass to come back ahead of schedule from the injury. It's not his fault that when he was acquired the FO apparently didn't realize he has zero pitch recognition skills or ability to track a baseball in flight. I get that but it doesn't mean I have to like that our fans did that. There's plenty of players I would have booed in their time on the Sox, I don't think Avi deserves to be one of those guys.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Avi isn't listed. I guess he didn't appreciate getting booed last year. That was pretty classless. That still bothers me. I can't stand Avi the player but dude works his butt off and didn't deserved to be booed.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) @pgammo GM respected for scouting and highly asture in analytics today said, "I think Adam Eaton is one of the 15 best players in the game." I don't agree, but still interesting. If you look at positional players I think it's fair to say he had one of the top 15 seasons last year. That said, I think he had the best season he's going to have and while I think he's pretty damn great, I don't think I'd call him a top 15 player either.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) The return of Cassius Ohno!!!!!! I've never seen him work but remember he got fired for being lazy and out of shape. Hope he is changed. It's funny cause the dude is a lot bigger now than he was in his first stint but that also kind of makes the things he can do more impressive. But ya, he can really go in the ring, he can talk and he's just super entertaining in general. We'll see how it goes this time.
