  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) He was pick #18 in last year's draft. That is not the value of a second piece, no matter how much the WhiteSox liked him 6 months ago. What?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:40 AM) So in five years we can be back to where we are now, with outstanding pitchers, but no offense or defense. What a waste. Good, we're back here.
  3. Carmen running with the rumor saying it's "semi close" now too.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Shields was a typical Sox move that a blind man from another dimension could have predicted. Anderson's call up was easy to predict because everyone knew the Sox signed Rollins to work with Tim on his defense as well as to hold SS so the Sox could wait on the callup to be the exgra year of control. Your examples further back up what I'm saying. Also not going to take trade rumors serious from a guy that loves to post the most random and meaninglsss nonsense. Pizza plug from his favorite spot down the street, how drunk he got last night or about the size of the dump he took this morning. Yep, he's a good source alright. He provided info on those moves way before anyone else even had an idea. No matter who your source is you're going to be wrong at times and that's why you should never completely take this stuff as gospel but Dave clearly has a source, that's not even debatable.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) After last year's Sox and free agent rumors, I believe nothing WSD has to say ( Cespedes 6/135M!) Just an attention whore that's full of s***. I fail to see how a festive reference ( as funny as it may be) correlates to a Q trade happening today. Here a fresh article from Fox speculating the Astros could still be in on Q. I suggest Sox fans read this to help remove WSD's nonsense from their minds. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jose-qu...n-astros-122316 He clearly has some kind of source, he's proven that. That said, his tweet could be about anything and even if he thinks something is going to go down it certainly doesn't mean it's going to.
  6. David Aardsma and Nick Masset talk this morning. What a time to be alive.
  7. QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) In my opinion, we desperately need young power hitting. Thoughts? I think everyone here will agree with you that we're going to need more young positional players. That said, we're not trying to win next year so I don't think we're desperate for anything yet, just keep collecting the best talent out there.
  8. Are the Indians going to win the central by 70 games?
  9. I've been traveling all day, anything new? Or just still a lot of speculation?
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) Unless his daughter likes Bayley, like most little girls...and Rowand44. And proud of it. But ya, I think SD is the easy choice for the Chicago shows this time around.
  11. Everyone is untouchable until they're not. That's my analysis.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) Jose Valentin for HOF The one thing all of Soxtalk can agree on.
  13. I bet the Pirates would give up one of Meadows/Bell but don't want to give up both. "Settling" on the 2nd and 3rd pieces will be the hold up here I'm betting.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) It's slow at work so as the year comes to a close, I thought it'be fun to get everyone's opinion on the following. My responses will probably be all WWE/NXT because that's what I see. Singles Match of the Year: Styles-Cena at Summerslam Tag Match of the Year:DIY-Revival Takeover Brooklyn 2. Women's Match of the Year: Mania triple threat Woman of the Year: Charlotte(eew) Breakout Star of the Year: Alexa I guess, this is kind of a hard one to answer but I guess she went from afterthought to main player more than anyone else. Feud of the Year: Charlotte-Sasha I think. The feud actually annoyed me most of the time but it had some awesome moments and has a ton of history attached to it now. Styles-Cena or the Miz/Bryan/Dolph trio would be my other votes. 1 Prediction for 2017: Brand split already dies. Make up your own topics. Superstar of the year: Styles by a landslide. Dude is on another level right now. Show of the year: Takeover Dallas cause I was there and want to brag. These are off the top of my head under the WWE umbrella so there's definitely a chance I forgot about something. And too many of my answers match Brian's so that's dumb.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) Still alive in 3 of my 4 leagues, of course the one I'm eliminated in is my biggest money league and one I care most about(still made money in it though). Officially in 2 championships and am up 20 with Dustin Hopkins left and my opponent has Cam and G-Reg(4 point per qb today league) in my other so toss up city there. Lost by the Hopkins missed PAT. How cool.
  16. So if Q isn't an ace because he's pitched for a bad team then I guess Sale isn't an ace either?

  18. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) You weren't 'joking', you were being a sarcastic jagbag that didn't contribute anything to the thread. Yeah he means the world to me. I got 3 Shuck jer-tees, an autographed picture with me and him, and a Shuck White Sox signed jersey in my man cave. I was just throwing some White Sox news out there, ya know, considering he was on the MLB roster parts of the past 2 seasons. Dude what the hell?
  19. On the Danish topic, I've kind of never understood why people think he'll be a good reliever. Maybe he can be a decent long man but that's all I see him being in the bullpen. Still think he has a better chance to be a starter(which at this point I don't think is going to happen either) than he does to be a back end of the pen arm.
  20. Outside of Moncada being number 1 I feel like 2-10 can be all over the place for different people. Personally: 1. Moncada 2. Kopech 3. Giolito 4. Collins 5. Lopez 6. Fulmer 7. Hansen 8. Basabe 9. Dunning 10. Burdi
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Trading a star in this league is a foolish notion...period. When it is a star who is signed to a mega cheap deal, it is even more foolish. Having Butler makes it far more likely to contend then not having him. I don't believe the Wolves were ever willing to include Lavine. The Boston deal was more likely and even in that deal, you weren't getting loaded...maybe you get lucky on whatever the Nets next pick becomes. I'm not saying front office is great or we are great, but trading Butler would have been an awful thing to do. Once again, you're entitled to your opinion on Jimmy and The Bulls, the thing that I'm taking exception to here is calling people foolish like you've been proven right on something so far. There's nobody on this site who thinks Jimmy is a bad basketball player. The people who want him traded don't believe he can be the best player on a championship team, that his ego has outgrown his abilities and that we're going to be stuck in NBA hell with him around. And so far that's all that has been proven, so to call people foolish is foolish. And it was widely reported that the package being offered was Dunn and Lavine cause they wouldn't give up Wiggins but once again you're entitled to believe what you want to.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) When you have a star, or in this case a star and an aging star, there is always a way out. Its a star league...they aren't going anywhere with this roster, but all of you who wanted to deal Butler for Dunn and a couple other middling picks are looking awfully foolish. Stars in the NBA don't grow on trees. Gar and company have failed to surround that talent with the right players, but the team will need to pivot and whether it is Chris Paul or others, they need to find a way to replace Rondo with an upgraded point guard plus add more shooting / enhanced talent off the bench. Ideally, you'd upgrade the bigs as well, albeit Lopez / Taj are the least of the Bulls worries. The terrible bench and the fact that Rondo stinks are the major things separating them from being an upper echelon team (I didn't say title contender, cause they'd need to find at a total superstar plus enhance depth and even then, with the Warriors so talented, it will be hard to address). Like really? First off, the deal was going to include Lavine and Dunn. Second, I don't think anyone was jumping at the deal. I want Butler traded cause this team is never going anywhere with him as the number 1 guy but I certainly wasn't jumping at the proposed deal of the Wolves. And calling anyone foolish right now with this team still stuck in the mud is pretty ridiculous.
