  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Probably not. But it should. 5 years $38 million for a guy who even if you don't think will put up a 6.0 WAR ever again, has averaged 4.3 WAR his first 3 years in the American League. Jerry Krause's press conference when he traded Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler always comes to mind when people are so giddy to get rid of players for really no reason other than making a change. Krause said Chandler had the potential to be a 20 point 10 rebound guy. Great. Elton Brand was a 20 point 10 rebound guy. Chandler never averaged 10 points or 10 rebounds for the Bulls. He has had a decent career, but the trade didn't make the Bulls better. Why trade Eaton unless something has to really go wrong for you not to be better because of it? That sort of guarantee is rarely available in baseball. You're talking a 1 for 1 deal(and Brian Skinner I guess) in the Brand for Chandler trade, nobody here is trying to trade Adam Eaton for one prospect.
  2. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Also, I realize "sleeper'' wasn't the best word to describe #Whitesox. But until they trade Sale, the rebuild is all just speculation. https://t.co/Dj6c3u1PNh https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/804731438251868165 My point was, Rick Hahn has a chance to make the meetings hop. If Sale goes, the dominos could fall quickly with other #Whitesox players. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/804731589330608128 And that is completely fair.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Yes I'm sure they are really "sleeping" on people, nobody has known they are shopping Sale I laughed when I saw that as well.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) I'll concede that Adam may be a fine teammate, but it's clear he's in the Chris Sale mode of being completely okay with taking internal strife with management public. Granted - players are probably right about Kenny, but the circus they routinely invite of airing the laundry publicily is something I'm not opposed to leaving behind. This is a fair point.
  5. I'm not necessarily worried about his skill set eroding(though I do worry a bit about him killing himself running into a wall or something) and I agree that the clubhouse s*** is mostly bs but I'm just open to trade anyone especially when there's a possibility said player is at their peak value. I'm certainly not saying to go out and trade him for anything but we should be open to the idea of trading him if it brings us a nice package of players back.
  6. Or his value is at an all time high and might net you more than a few good prospects back. I'm fine with keeping Adam but if you get blown away by someone then go ahead and move him.
  7. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Uhhhh yeah. They basically own the entire Southeast. After the obvious teams (Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals, Giants, Cubs), they're right there in terms of fans. No, I'm not talking about precious attendance either. I'm talking about viewership. And not that it counts but go anywhere from Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, Florida, the Carolinas - you'll see a lot of Braves gear. But you were talking about attendance.
  8. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) To flip for prospects midseason or try to merely be a .500 team? I know they're opening a new stadium in 2017 but I don't quite understand at this point. They have one of the bigger fanbases in the game so it's not like they'll need to worry about fans showing up once they're legit again. They do?
  9. Gronk was kind of the ultimate in busts this season. 3 games where he was basically a decoy and/or got injured during and that's not counting the time he just flat out missed. Those fake 3 games he "played" in though could cost me in a couple of leagues.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Regardless of the different leagues, you can't convince me that best record is not the single best determinant. Agreed.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) 0 for 0? No losses!
  12. Looks like Ric Flair just signed a new deal to be on the Raw roster for a while so that's cool. No it's not.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) maybe afterwards you can showcase your mad kickball skills Deal!
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) pickup game at shacks! I'm in as long as I don't get stuck with you on my team.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) Haha...I know, I know...but honestly, we have been bringing him out there and he absolutely loves it. Gives him a big open space to throw stuff and chase stuff at his leisure. We ordered him a little car to ride around on for Christmas. I suspect he will enjoy using that on there. Can I visit and just sleep on the basketball courts?
  16. Ya, I want Kenny Williams gone as much as anyone but when you win a World Series you can't be considered an all time bad gm. Not the best of threads.
  17. If the Cubs were offering the Sox the best package and the Sox said no because "f*** it, we aren't trading with the Cubs" then that's incredibly stupid.
  18. Loved the match but not sure why they're playing hot potato with the title. This feud has to end at some point.
  19. My team has 2 penalties for 6 yds, we got screwed. 6 yds! No bias here, 6 yds!
  20. Don't like either team but happy Michigan lost cause Harbaugh is a wuss.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) This is a good suggestion but I got it for her for her birthday. I've been with her the last three birthdays and two Xmas's I'm out of idea. If I didn't do this last Christmas...Ugh. Let her be a Soxtalk Moderator for a day. It's perfect.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Or you could blame him if he had anticipated the CBA would be a problem this off season when things could have changed during the previous couple years. Sales value could be affected if the buying team keeps him and he elects free agency down the road and the buying team doesn't get a draft pick in return. And that situation will affect all the other Sox trade pieces too since they would all have a full year with the buying teams. Waiting for this particular off season to make changes could end up being a huge blunder. This. At least we have our built in excuse when we f*** up this offseason.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 05:43 AM) 47 of their 53 FGs were assisted. Historic stuff we're gonna see all year. They're not even clicking consistenly yet. Scary.
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) I totally wasnt suggesting that but I can see how it might have come across as that. I was just speaking in terms of everyone wanting a complete tear down because they think its the only way to rebuild. I knew you weren't. In the context of what we were talking about it gave me the chance to yell at you though.
