  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) I cannot believe this return. Giolito is the #3 prospect in the entire game. Lopez #13. Dunning was the Nat's first rounder just last year. All of that for Adam freaking Eaton. Thank God for advanced stats showing that the slappy, oft-injured outfielder was a +6 fWAR last year. Also, you know Dusty Baker loves his grind factor. The Sox will wake up tomorrow with the top system in all of baseball and three huge assets left in Quintana, Frazier, and Robertson to deal off. The future is much brighter today than it was 2 days ago. You've had a weird take on some of the Sox current(and now ex) players the last few days. Adam Eaton isn't a slap hitter.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) No, I'd rather them learn their f***ing lesson versus doing the same damn crap that just failed. You're entitled to your opinion on the rebuild and the two trades but this is just wrong. Just factually incorrect.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) I caught that too. I don't trust the television when twitter is around ha. Seriously though...
  4. I'm obviously willing to trade Abreu if it's in the right package but I almost feel like the right move is to hold on to him and see if he can have a monster first half before flipping him.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) I'm sure that's why lots of Nats fans are pissed. They don't think all-star when the name Adam Eaton pops up. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Was just thinking that. I flipped on MLB Network and they are basically killing the Nats. If Eaton is batting leadoff for the 1st place Nats, the national media will start to understand his value more. Exactly. I love the move for the Sox but I definitely see what the Nats are doing. That said it is a bit weird since he's going to be playing center this year but hey they got their Bryce replacement in right field too I guess.
  6. Just to be a party pooper(not really) but the media is of course going to love this deal for the Sox. Eaton just isn't a big name and since he doesn't put up huge offensive numbers there are going to be a ton of people that don't love the deal, especially when a guy like Giolito who has been a big name prospect on is on the move for the Nats.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Holy s*** I just woke up. Go back to sleep.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:57 PM) We also got Basabe who could be a top 100 prospect by midseason Ya so far we've gotten one elite hitting prospect and one pretty solid one. It's not just Yoan.
  9. Another thing not being discussed enough is that when we completely f***in suck this year we're going to get a super high pick and the ability to spend more on the draft when we have like no payroll left. Another huge infusion of talent hopefully.
  10. QUOTE (aboz56 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) The last few years have been miserable, so basically nothing new. Like literally as miserable as it could get.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) To me, the big thing about this is we got three guys who could be high upside. Yes, bust risk exists, but getting three high caliber players is fantastic. I like this haul as much, if not more, then the Red Sox haul and the combo makes me feel better then Sale in isolation. Still, a lot of work to go and obviously a lot of risk in what the club is doing (but hey...not like we are defending divisional champs or anything, haha). Very nice to see us, seemingly, take a very distinct and clear direction. I'm curious to see what else happens...Q obviously is most intriguing. I want to bold this because I think this is very important. Hahn had discussions with the Nats before and probably at least had an idea of what he could pull from them for Adam. He probably has a similar idea with Q and some other teams. I bet Q goes for some bats and when you put the packages of all 3 together it looks even better than the deals did separately.
  12. I've b****ed about the Sox more than anyone the last year but there's no reason to b**** about these guys just being pitchers right now. We still have a lot of pieces to move and one is an elite one. Now that we actually have a f***in direction for once lets let Rick finish this off...and he's doing a tremendous job gathering talent so far. Don't stop now boys.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Have fun playing eaton in CF That's what's kind of funny about it. They traded a right field Adam Eaton package for a cf Adam Eaton.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Yes. Ya, I'm with you on this one.
  15. Still got Q to trade for bats as well. Clean up on arms with the Nats if you need to.
  16. Hopefully Giolito, Lopez and another piece or two then.
  17. Quick, someone change the title!
  18. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) http://m.mlb.com/news/article/159745898/ja...enter-for-cubs/ I remember. I just don't think that was ever the plan. They were going to get a cf somewhere so Heyward could play right. Him playing center would have been a last resort for them.
  19. I'm pretty sure Chris is a good dude and well liked in the clubhouse. He's just a crazy person.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) ...Cubs signed him to be a CFer before Fowler came back. I'm almost positive that was never the plan.
  21. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Compared to Jason Heyward? Is this even up for debate? Heyward signed as a 25 year old with good established offensive production and the plus tools to project increased production. He wasn't signed because of his defensively inflated WAR. Eaton will be traded as an established 28 year old without near the upside to project. He's a hell of a player, but his some of his numbers are smoke and mirrors. GM's aren't dumb. You're absolutely nuts if you don't think Heyward was signed because of his defense in right field. Sure, the Cubs were probably hoping for some increased offensive production due to his tools but if he wasn't thought of as the best defensive right fielder in the league then he's not making anywhere near that type of money.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Yep that amazing speech made it so heart of Cubs order was up against an average reliever. On his 2nd innning of work. There was no way the Cubs weren't scoring that inning.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) I'll take the Red Sox package every time. I'm just throwing it out there as a discussion point. I think you can make a fair argument for either package of players.
  24. So looks like the Nats package was going to consist of Giolito, Robles and Lopez.
