  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) So what now? What if he's right and PK is gone? What's a backup plan? Only Kenny knows. Nomar is a possibility, Troy Glaus maybe, Sammy Sosa, who knows but KW has a backup plan in case he does bolt and I have full confidence in him to find a very good replacement.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Yeah I think the Atlanta pitching decline will be something over a decade, if at all, not something you see right away. Farns in NY is a joke. I can't wait to see him with the bases loaded in Fenway with Big Papi up. He's mentally weak Not physically though.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) But podsednik had an injury that hampered his running abilities. :rolly ..and Damaso has a neck injury that hampered his pitching abilities. :rolly
  4. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) pierre is a downgrade of iguchi I dont see why people want him so badly, especially in the 2-spot. Yeah moving iguchi down to 5/6th spot would allow him to hit, but do we really need that? look what happened this year, iguchi did an Amazing job in the 2-role, and that is a HUGE reason we were where we where. If iguchi homers more often, and doesnt do his job, in the 2 role, then where do we go? We won alot of games, becuase we led alot of them early, and often. the 36-game or so, record we had going explains it. Once again, a lot of this is being speculated because the Sox want to move Iguchi down, they want to be able to make use of his power some more. Pierre is a great bunter and a better contact hitter then Tad so those early manufactured runs would still be able to happen quite a bit.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Wow. If we keep going, we could have Podsednikses 1-9, and then we'd be unstoppable! And unpronounceable. Iguchi was great in the 2-spot. Pierre would almost certainly be a step down from that. Oh, please, Cubbies, trade for him already... *sigh* nevermind, my whole point was missed. Carry on....

QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) He gets hit with a right-hook but it turns his body counter-clockwise. How is that possible? It's not.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) We have been one of the top teams in the league when it comes to our runs being off of homeruns. We are a slugging team ten times more than we are a small ball team... no matter what ozzie... kenny... brooks... or anyone else wants the fans to think. That's my point you whore. We had one guy who was the type of player ozzie wants, add another to the top of the order and the offense can score in more then one way.
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) If the Sox sign Myers, who will have an avatar like this with a Sox hat on it? lol, I was wondering who would be the first to throw that picture in this thread.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Why do we need another leadoff hitter? Why not have another speedy leadoff type who can help you manufacture runs when your sluggers get shut down. Scott was the only one who could literally manufacture a run by himself last year, wouldn't it be nice to have another guy who could do that in a close game? Remember the team went absolutely down the tubes last year when scotty went out and I know it wasn't all because of him but a big part of it was because of him. Add Pierre and all the sudden this team can manufacture and slug away with the best of them. That would be a pretty damn versatile offense.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) That is an average of $15 mil per year. Try again.
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) I never said it did but what would be wrong with a .355 OBP and great speed from the two-hole? Nothing is wrong with it, it would be something very nice to have.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) Why do people even want Pierre.... We are going to have a total of 3 HR's from our 1-2 hitters..... Sure hurt the marlins in 03...
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) If I didn't know better, I would think that someone recently told Offman that PK is coming back. He thought a decision would be made before Friday. He also said that Thome talked to him on the phone. Offman said that he thought a decision would be made before Friday? Anyways, at this point I don't think anyone knows what the hell is going on, to be honest.
  14. Farns was actually real good last year. That is a lot of money though and I dont think NY is the place for him.
  15. QUOTE(Fingish @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Only replace Marte if you are getting something pretty damn good in return, when he is healthy and on, he is a huge asset. Ok, so when he's on he's a great pitcher...that's fantastic. One problem, he's not on that much anymore. He started to pitch pretty poorly at the end of 04 and it carried on through last year. The guy isn't the same anymore, I wish we could get the 03 Damaso back but it's just not happening.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Well, if nothing else, last year he had games where he was just as dominant as he was in 2003. All he was doing different was following through on his pitches nad throwing strikes. That's a big difference. There is something wrong upstairs with him, he's a headcase right now. Even that solid game he pitched for us in game 3 he was walking the world. He started to decline in 04 and continued that in 05. There is no doubt that the guy was absolutely fantastic and lights out in 02 and 03 but he's not the same guy anymore.
  17. I'm getting Jenks and Bmac authentic jersey's. Besides that, a lot more Sox memorabilia. I'm usually very excited for the holidays but this year even moreso cause there is so much I want.
  18. I just dont hold the same level of confidence that some of you do that Damaso can bounce back. The guy started to decline in 04 and just was flat out awful last year as well. There is something wrong with him even though his stuff is still there, there is something wrong upstairs. He's finished, imo.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) \ I would expect maybe 1.7-2 mil a year, maybe more(could be off) He'll actually most likely get even less then that. Fantastic post, I agree with every single word of it.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) If used correctly( which I think Oz would in this case) Myers and Ozzie were made for each other.
  21. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) On the Score, George Offman is saying that the backup plan to losing Konerko could be Troy Glaus or Hank Blalock. Looks like they want someone who can play 3B and 1B. Crede's back must not be too healthy. I don't think there is any doubt that the Sox are worried about Joe's back. Troy Glaus would be a great backup plan to Paul imo, Hank Blalock....meh.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Post 49 in this thread has a statement that Uribe K's too much. I don't want to butcher the cut/paste, so I'll just refer to post 49. Oh, my bad. You quoted my post so I thought you were referring to something I said. I apologize.
  23. Rest them. As cool as it would be to go undefeated..winning the superbowl is the only thing that matters. One injury during a meaningless game and all the sudden there goes your shot at winning it all.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) I still think it will be Juan Pierre (who I don't want on the Sox). And for people saying Uribe K's too much....SO DOES IGUCHI! Who said Uribe k'd to much? Iguchi gets on base at a better clip then Juan and he also can control the bat much better then Uribe. I love Juan but he can't handle the bat, he has no clue where he's trying to hit the ball half the time. He's just not a good 2 hitter.
