QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Marte needs to be our situational LH NO, Marte can't get a damn lefty out to save his life, in no way, shape or form should he come in to get left handed hitters out, I don't give a damn if he throws with his left hand or not.

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) I know it's not official yet, but today's events make it very likely that we'll play the Bosox in round 1. That is the one team I wanted no part of. I realize their pitching is weaker than NY or the Angels, but Ortiz and Manny send a shiver up my spine. Plus they are the defending champs. I certainly wasn't rooting against the White Sox this weekend, but I was sort of hoping they would lay down for the Tribe. I like our matchup against LA much better. Now the Tribe will have to win 2 straight and Boston will have to lose 2 straight for that to happen. I still think we can beat Boston, I just like our chances better against the Angels. Everyone has their own opinions on who they'd like to play, the fact is it's ridiculous for a team to lay down so they can basically choose their opponent, the sox would never ever do that. If the Sox play like they can they'll beat anyone.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) We should've ridden out Heads' hot hand. Let him get a day off. Once the playoffs start he starts every game thread, period.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) That's it .. I am tired of the Vizcaino fan club. Time to rip thru his numbers. What part of a 3.84 ERA over 68 IP impresses you? What part of a .278 BAA & a 1.50 WHIP impresses you? What part of 6W, 5L, & only 8H over 68 appearances impresses you? It's a 4 team season now so let's look at how he stacks up against the rest: v BOS: .320OBP .513SLG .833OPS 1L vs v LAA: .380OBP .489SLG .869OPS vs Now I don't know if it's dawned on you yet but these are our likely opponents on a road to the WS. That doesn't inspire confidence for a White Sox fan. Marte is a no-brainer. You can't go to battle with just 1 LH RP. You must have at least 2. But with the success of Hermy, Politte, Jenks, Vizcaino is NOT needed. Having El Duque & BMac on the roster for emergency long relief & starts is the wise move. What vizcaino fan club?? I don't think Viz is the best pitcher in the world but he's sure as hell better then the Duke at this point and that's a no brainer.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) He isn't Vizcaino. He's much worse.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Can we actually convert a save against Cleveland for once? Jenks is probably going to be gased as all hell. So wouldn't surprise me if he blows it. If he pitches tomorrow I will not be happy, I will in fact be pissed off. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) I wouldn't be adverse to going into next year with Jenks and Hermanson as our closers. That's what I WANT to go into the season with, I just want lefty long reliever who could be used to get lefties out as well. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) No, NY would only take the AL East if Cleveland loses tomorrow in addition to today, with Boston getting the WC. -- A win today guaranteed them nothing worse than a playoff. Even with a loss today, Cleveland is only 1 game out of a WC, and if they were to win tomorrow. ---- Anouncers are convinced it's Buehrle/Garcia in game 1-2... I love having the ace in the hole. Actually, a win for the yanks and a loss for the Indians and they do clinch the east as they hold the tie breaker over Boston. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Damn. I don't want Boston in the first round. Honest question: Would you rather play the Angels?? To be honest, it does not matter to me either way, just want to hear your views. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Damnit, Carl. Well, I was hoping for two things today -- no injuries, and a good start from Garland. Halfway there; real encouraging performance by Jon today. Maybe one more inning then done? I think that's the way to go. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Boy, the White Sox are not making it easy on Cleveland. As frustrating as it's been to be a White Sox fan these past few weeks, it has got to be really rough to be a Cleveland fan this weekend. Talk about nail biting. No doubt. I'm surprised we don't have any runs yet, our regulars are swinging the bat pretty well so far, not much to show for it though. -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) thats a little more respectable than yesterday.....what i find funny though is that you have rowand, AJ and everett who have all batted #3 this year, yet we bat a guy who hasnt been on the team all year at 3rd? i guess i just dont get it Ya, like Jimbo's said I'm sure that's where they are batting for the postseason with Jermaine in the 3 hole, that definitely makes me happy. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) Oh boy, Gload in the OF. This should be fun. We should have put Scotty in center just for fun. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Willie is gonna be on the postseason roster. He's a huge asset as a pinch runner. I agree, Willie is such a valuable asset. If true this is the right move imo. As 101 pointed out Viz has been a solid reliever for a while now, the Duke has had 1 good relief appearance we really dont know what to expect out of him in that role and to be honest, he's been terrible for a while as well. This was the move I was hoping the team would make so I'm hoping this is true.
