How are you planning to watch the potential clinch
QUOTE(Funkman7 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Me? I haven't decided what I want to do yet, but most likely I'll be sitting at home by my lonesome. My sibs are at work and friends are at school. If it gets to be boring I might head out to a bar or something. I'm waking up for the game, watch it till my 2 o'clock class and watch it on gameday from there. I would ditch my 2 but I can't cause I have to ditch that class next tuesday to come home for game 1 of the alds

Need rules in writing
Nice little blurb from mlb.com here, nothing we didn't already know but fun to see it in print anyways: Jose Contreras won his eighth straight start and Scott Podsednik had four hits, leading the White Sox over the Tigers, 8-2, on Wednesday night. If the White Sox win this afternoon with Freddy Garcia on the mound, they are the 2005 American League Central champions.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I don't believe we clinch the division with just a win. Of course, if it happens against Cleveland this weekend, then that's a different story. We win tomorrow and we win the division yas. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say my head hurts from all the possible scenarios and tie breakers but we win tomorrow and the central is ours.

How many pitchers on the Postseason roster ?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) I hate to offer this because I really like the guy, but . . . would you rather have in the 7th inning of a tight playoff game at Yankee Stadium Duque or BMac? The fast reply is BMac, but if experience means anything, maybe that isn't the best call. Bmac, seriously. He's so much better then el duque right now it's not even funny and I think Brandon's already proven that he can handle the pressure.

How many pitchers on the Postseason roster ?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) I'm not 100% convinced Duque stays home. Playoff experience and all. I know BMac is a popular pick, I'm not sure I wouldn't take Duque and Bmac and leav Viz at home. Viz has been very solid for most of the 2nd half and the Duke isn't a bullpen pitcher, I agree that ozz will probably find some way to have him on the roster but I sure hope not.

Message to JR: Sign Konerko now
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Yup. The Sox have one spot of depth right now; pitching. Let's keep it that way. If you're gonna deal a pitcher, trade one of the AA arms -- Tracey or Haigwood. Hands off Chris Young, though. For the longest time I was all for trading Jose in the offseason but not anymore..he's really forming into an ace like we knew he could be and it's really fun to watch considering what he's had to deal with.

Does Jose start game 1?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Repeat as necessary. BMac and Cotts for long relief. Sorry Viz, here's some tickets for the games. Viz should be there....el duque on the other hand should not.

Message to JR: Sign Konerko now
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) You'ree neglecting one part of the offense to fill another. Iguchi can move down to the #3 spot if we get a #2 hitter. You lose Konerko, there's no-one who's gonna replace his output. Thomas comes off the books, so does Everett. That's about $10M free right there. You trade a Contreras in a deal for Chad Tracy, that's anither 6-8M saved right there. Payroll should go up by about 10M at least. Garland will get a raise for next season for about 2 to 3M, same for A.J. That leaves plenty of payroll room left for Mr. Konerko. Konerko has not been the problem with this offense. You take him out, how much worse would our offense be? Contreras ain't going anywhere anymore after how he's carried this staff the last two months.

Braves win 14th straight title
Congrats to them. After 04 I will never count them out, I thought they had no chance to win that division last year but they did. 14 in a row, absolutely f***in amazing.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) most news channels and radio in Chicago are reporting that if the Sox win tomorrow they win the division... the math is way too hard for me, so I am going to believe the media (not the best decision always, but it makes me happy for now) It's true, you can believe them for once.

D-RAYS
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Cantu is likely the most underrated player in baseball. I completely agree with this. I knew he was having a great year but I was stunned when I looked at his numbers a few weeks back.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) it doesnt matter if the red sox win or not. its simple logic. if the sox win tomorrow they clinch not only a playoff berth but a tie for the division, correct? since the best cleveland could do then is tie us, and since in this hypothetical situation the tribe has tied us and the sox have clinched a berth, that means the indians clinch a berth too. and because both teams would already be in, the sox would be awarded the division with a win tomorrow, no matter what happens the rest of the year with boston and cleveland And you're right, good f***in call, you're smart, I am not. EDIT: All these tie breaker scenarios have made me do all sorts of math and because of this I have lost all common sense. Kudos man.

THE BIGGEST THING ABOUT TONIGHT!
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) If we play the Angels in the first round, Pods won't be running much with B. Molina behind the plate. fathom has put us in the playoffs.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
Alright here: A White Sox win or Yankees loss and we're in. A White Sox win and an Indians or Red Sox loss and we win the division. I'm positive guys, look it up if you want.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) The Red Sox are not in our division. Thanks guys, after all this time following the sox I forget who was in our division. Listen, if us and the Indians are tied but both of these teams are in the playoffs, there is NO 1 game playoff then the division winner is determined by head to head which our sox have clinched. Meaning if the we win tomorrow and the Bosox lose they can't finish better then us and if the Indians were to win out, we tie for the division but the bosox are left out because of this, we win the division.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) The Red Sox are NOT in our division. They have nothing to do with us winning our division. It has nothing to do with math. Ribbie you're wrong here, the Red Sox do matter, I'm 100 percent sure on this.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) The Red Sox have nothing to do with our division. Here it is: The Magic Number is 2 If the Sox win tomorrow, but Cleveland wins: The Sox clinch at least a tie for the Division. With the magic number at 1 If the Season ends in identical records, the Sox will play Cleveland in a one-game playoff in Cleveland. The winner wins the division. If the Sox win and Cleveland loses: The White Sox are central division champs! Ribbie the red sox do matter: Here's why, the redsox losing and us winning gives us the division, that would put us 4 up on them, meaning we cant have a worse record for them, meaning if they win out and we lose out, us and cleveland tie but since both teams of us are in the playoffs we win the division, due to us beating them head to head.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
Ok, here we go. If we win and the Indians or Red Sox lose then we clinch the division.

THE BIGGEST THING ABOUT TONIGHT!
Definitely not the biggest thing, steve. However, it would definitely be huge if we can get him running again.

Does Jose start game 1?
Yes, period.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) I know this has been asked approximately 100,000 times, but it never seems to be a straight answer: do the Sox now have a playoff spot? NY and Boston lost, didn't they? At least, they were losing last I checked. Yankees won, so not yet. A win tomorrow and we're in.

Mariotti chokes us again
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) How did he respond? He said something that didnt make sense to me. Something like "When I'm in attendance they lose."

Mariotti chokes us again
Lol, I thought this was just hilarious. On ath, Tony Reali says to Mariotti "Mariotti, how come when the sox lose 1 game you always right a column about them choking but when they win you dont write about them"
