  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) One more win/New York loss, I think... Do we hold the tiebreaker over them?? Cause we split head to head.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Cool, thanks Brian So the schedule is (no times are known yet) Tuesday @ Chicago Wednesday @ Chicago Friday on the road Saturday on the road Sunday @ Chicago I guess they've yet to clinch home field in the first round just yet. They've clinched homefield in the first round just not throughout yet.
  3. I have to go with the yanks right now. They're playing well and Boston isn't. I'm hoping that Boston wins 2 of 3 this weekend then the yanks beat them on Monday. EDIT: Actually I take the Monday comment back, if Boston wins 2 of 3 and plays a tiebreaker game that means we lost the series to cleveland.
  4. Hey mods, I'm sure we're going to get a lot of requests, could we maybe get a tickets thread pinned?
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) we do play on Wednesday. I got the tickets today in the mail. Boy do they look beautiful. I haven't even seen my tickets yet as they're sitting back home all by themselves.
  6. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) I voted yes for both.. If anything leave Geoff Blum or someone like that off the roster.. El Duque and his playoff experince will definitely be necessary and BMac is pitching great right now.. What would we be telling him if he wasn't on the roster? Can I ask for what?? If he pitches he's coming out of the bullpen where he'd probably get rocked more then he already has and the fact that it would take him like half the game to get warm.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) If the above happens, I like our chances. A lot. Count has been untouchable recently, MB has been better at home this year IIRC, Garcia has been ridiculous on the road, and Garland is probably good for a quality start at the very least. Yup, Mark's been better at home. That's the rotation I wanted and it looks like that's exactly what we're going to get. Couldn't be happier today.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Do we already know? I assume we don't find that out until we know who the matchup is. I just hope the Sox don't play on Wednesday or Thursday during the afternoon (got 2 big ass tests on Thursday and Wednesday I'd like to study for them). On a sidenote, I'm assuming its 2 at home, 2 on the road and then the final at home in the best of 5? Yes. We play on Tuesday for sure and I'm about 90 percent sure we play on weds, offday thursday and then friday, saturday and sunday.
  9. 5. Opening day, just awesome to be at the first opening day in ages at home, 1-0 win felt so awesome after last years opening day debacle. 4. Game 2, Pauly and Jermaine homer for a 4 run 9th and win. 3. Aj's walkoff against the dodgers, aaron tied it with a single up the middle in the 9th and then BOOM aj goes oppo to win it. 2. Rally Crede last Tuesday, we needed that win big time and we got it. 1. Today, 'nuff said.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Predictions of the lineup: Timo (7), Iguchi, Borchard (9), Everett, Gload (3), Crede, Blum (6), Anderson (8), Casanova Ozzie said he's playing this series straight up out of respect for the bosox and yankees. I know I want to see some guys get a day off but I definitely want Carl playing these last 3, he's starting to look good again and I think it'd be a real bad time to take him out of the lineup.
  11. Uh oh. Pti is on to us, they're going to talk about the disappearance of the rally monkey, hopefully they don't realize he's been replaced.
  12. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) can't help with any pics, but AC/DC's Thunderstruck is a must for the soundtrack. Back in black as well. Look in the september to remember thread, kalapse posted some awesome pics.
  13. Not I, I just made my train reservations to come home to go to the games, I'm missing 3 days of class next week.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Jose Contreras has to start game 1. He's become a true ace and a stopper. It looks like we can set this up perfectly. Jose for game 1, Mark, Freddy, Jon. We should be good to go.
  15. YYYYYYYYYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :headbang :headbang :headbang
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) We have to wait and see what Cleveland does anyway. It make no sense to ditch tomorrow. lol We win tomorrow and we win the division Jordan, complicated stuff, read a few threads down.
  17. QUOTE(Funkman7 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Me? I haven't decided what I want to do yet, but most likely I'll be sitting at home by my lonesome. My sibs are at work and friends are at school. If it gets to be boring I might head out to a bar or something. I'm waking up for the game, watch it till my 2 o'clock class and watch it on gameday from there. I would ditch my 2 but I can't cause I have to ditch that class next tuesday to come home for game 1 of the alds
  18. Nice little blurb from mlb.com here, nothing we didn't already know but fun to see it in print anyways: Jose Contreras won his eighth straight start and Scott Podsednik had four hits, leading the White Sox over the Tigers, 8-2, on Wednesday night. If the White Sox win this afternoon with Freddy Garcia on the mound, they are the 2005 American League Central champions.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I don't believe we clinch the division with just a win. Of course, if it happens against Cleveland this weekend, then that's a different story. We win tomorrow and we win the division yas. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say my head hurts from all the possible scenarios and tie breakers but we win tomorrow and the central is ours.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) I hate to offer this because I really like the guy, but . . . would you rather have in the 7th inning of a tight playoff game at Yankee Stadium Duque or BMac? The fast reply is BMac, but if experience means anything, maybe that isn't the best call. Bmac, seriously. He's so much better then el duque right now it's not even funny and I think Brandon's already proven that he can handle the pressure.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) I'm not 100% convinced Duque stays home. Playoff experience and all. I know BMac is a popular pick, I'm not sure I wouldn't take Duque and Bmac and leav Viz at home. Viz has been very solid for most of the 2nd half and the Duke isn't a bullpen pitcher, I agree that ozz will probably find some way to have him on the roster but I sure hope not.
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Yup. The Sox have one spot of depth right now; pitching. Let's keep it that way. If you're gonna deal a pitcher, trade one of the AA arms -- Tracey or Haigwood. Hands off Chris Young, though. For the longest time I was all for trading Jose in the offseason but not anymore..he's really forming into an ace like we knew he could be and it's really fun to watch considering what he's had to deal with.
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Repeat as necessary. BMac and Cotts for long relief. Sorry Viz, here's some tickets for the games. Viz should be there....el duque on the other hand should not.
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) You'ree neglecting one part of the offense to fill another. Iguchi can move down to the #3 spot if we get a #2 hitter. You lose Konerko, there's no-one who's gonna replace his output. Thomas comes off the books, so does Everett. That's about $10M free right there. You trade a Contreras in a deal for Chad Tracy, that's anither 6-8M saved right there. Payroll should go up by about 10M at least. Garland will get a raise for next season for about 2 to 3M, same for A.J. That leaves plenty of payroll room left for Mr. Konerko. Konerko has not been the problem with this offense. You take him out, how much worse would our offense be? Contreras ain't going anywhere anymore after how he's carried this staff the last two months.
