  1. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) And if Cleveland wins on Monday, we play a WELL RESTED LAA TEAM... NO THANKS Or the yankees. EDIT: Actually this isn't true, anaheim can get homefield over the yanks but if that happens it means the bosox win the wildcard.
  2. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) My lineup would be: Casanova-c Blum-short Ozuna-3b Harris-2b (so willie could bat cleanup) Perez-lf Gload-1b Anderson-cf Borchard-rf Widge-DH Our whole bench in the worst order will beat the tribe and eliminate them! how funny would that be (and harris is batting 4th) I love that 3-4 combo, have you seen power like that before?? MERCY
  3. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) so no playoff required. thanks. No problem, a one game playoff only takes place when the loser would go home and not make the playoffs.
  4. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) If the yankees lose and the angels win they tie for the 2 seed. Correct, the Angels would have homefield as they own the head to head over the yanks.
  5. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Would the playoffs start on wednesday if Boston and Cleveland had a playoff for the WC and Boston won? And whats the deal with all of the tiebreakers. Nope, Tuesday is officially the opener now, it would have only been moved back if there were a 3 way tie. What tie breakers are you talking about? The only things that matter now is if cle wins and boston loses then there is a one game playoff on monday.
  6. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Yah for a second I though the Time Zone change making it a 4:00 start time in LA but remebered they did it last year in the Boston Series. It'd be 5 L.A., it's 7 central time.
  7. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Yes the Angels have a 5-2 record against them and If Yanks lose and Angels win @ Texas it will happen Ya, I just went to check who had the head to head advantage, that's a good point. Anyways, those time slots are certain, so I'm sure they'd still get that 7 o'clock game central game even if it was at Anaheim.
  8. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) What happens if the Angels grab the homefield against the Yanks will those times stay the same? Thanks Tom You know, I was thinking about that, do they have the tie breaker over they yanks?? If so then there is still a possibility that we play the yankees.
  9. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) rather play boston than Anaheim three main reasons. 1. Angels have much better starters and a deeper pen. Boston pitching is no only injured, they'll have to start either Clement or Arroyo against us (Arroyo for sure if they have a one-game playoff with Cleveland). 2. Angels run like hell against us with Figgins, Cabrera and others. Boston doesn't try to steal. 3. Angels just beat our brains in at Comiskey in early September and we play like do-do on the West Coast. We played Boston much better. All we have to remember is DO NOT LET Ortiz or Ramirez beat you. If we can advance to the alcs there's a good chance we'd run into the angels anyway.
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) 15 games down to 1.5 in the space of 6 weeks??! You're gonna have to explain that one. Yeah Cleveland got hot but if we played even decent baseball that lead is still 10. Who cares now. The record is about to go back to 0-0 and they get a chance to show us what they're really made of.. We did play decent ball nuke. We played .500 ball since August 1st(a few games over now) so we weren't choking, cleveland just didnt lose.
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Distasteful but accurate. They totally pissed away a huge division lead This is so incorrect.
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Politte NO. Can I ask why?
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) And Actually I meant we should have taken El Duque over Viz not Marte. Well that was a fun argument for nothing. We both got our points across, agree to disagree.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) If he's on the playoff roster than what do you suggest we do w/ him? He should ONLY come in to face a tough LH if Cotts is unavailable or has been used. The only time I want him coming in to face a lefty is when it's just him and Viz left in the bullpen, anyone else in our pen besides Vizcaino should be in to face a lefty way before Marte. To be honest, neither of those two are going to get much work at all in the postseason if you ask me.
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Marte Vs LH's 23 ip, 24 hits, 15 bb, 32 K's, 1 hr. Vs Rh's 22.1, 21 hits, 18 bb's, 22 K's, 4 hr Righties are hitting .238 off Dam as Lefties are hitting .261 off him. Also, I've been talking about what we've seen for Damaso as of late, I'll admit I didn't look up stats before I posted all of this but it's no secret that as of late Damaso can not get any lefties out.
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) MY POINT WAS, I'D RATHER HAVE MARTE INSTEAD OF VIZ This argument started cause you said we need Damaso as a lefty specialist, and I said that's not where he should be used. Well that was 2 pages of pointless argument.
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) My point is Damaso can at least come in and POSSIBLY k a tough LH in a pressure situation. What Can Viz do again? We have Jenks, Hermanson, Cotts, and Politte who are much better and I mean MUCH better at getting lefties out then Damaso so why would we use him as a lefty specialist that's my point. I never said I don't think he should be on the playoff roster, I just hate how he's going to be used, he's not a lefty specialist.
  18. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) He has a much higher era, more walks, less SO's and more Hr's vs Rh's First off, era for a reliever against one side is probably the most pointless thing ever. he gets righties out for then lefties as they hit way worse against him and get on base. Secondly, you're right he does have more walks against right handers but for about two months now when he comes into face a lefty he walks or hits that batter and basically everyone here could tell you that.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) 32 K's in only 23 innings cannot be overlooked. Plus, Oz leaves him in there too long. He should only come in to face 1 or 2 lefties, and NO Rh's in crucial situations. I also think Cotts should be 1st choice, IF available........ But you do need 2 LH's to force the opposing manager to make moves. Who gives a crap about k's so he can strike them out when he rarely gets them out, problem is he can't get them out. A .387 obp for a lefty specialist..are you kidding me??? Damaso is much better against right handers because he can actually throw strikes to them. Also, needing two left handers to force the opposing manager to make moves is just crap in my mind.
  20. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) We need 2 LH's out of the pen. Period.......BTW, vs LH's, Marte has a 2.35 era in 23 innings w/ 32 So's and giving up ONLY 1 Hr. Lefties are hitting .261 with a .387 obp against Damaso, that is absolutely horrid. He can not get left handers out.
  21. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) We need 2 LH's out of the pen. Period. Why is that again?? I know Damaso is going to make the postseason roster, I just hate the fact it's because he throws with his left hand.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) USC seemed down and out at halftime. Helluva turn around after halftime, I would say...again. They dont try in the first half.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) My point is, would you rather face Boston's offense or the Angels pitching. I definitely understand what you're saying cy, I'm just saying basically what Brian said, all these teams in the al playoffs are damn good and we're going to have to earn our way no matter what.
  24. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) If you ask me, it's pick your poison. Would you rather face Damon/Ortiz/Ramirez/Varitek? Or Colon/Guerrero/Lackey/ Rodriguez?....... If you ask me, I think were better off facing Boston w/ homefield advantage. But if our offense doesn't show up, were screwed. Where if we face the Angels, and our pitching doesn't show up, were screwed. Flip a coin. It's pick your poison with any al playoff team, that's why they're in the playoffs.
