Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) Marte's problem is that he is a coward. He can't throw a strike to save his life and hangs his breaking stuff. He is dead meat up there and I hope we can at least get a bag of balls for him in the offseason. If this guy actually pitches again in a key situation for the rest of the playoffs, he will kill us. He's lost all control and to me it also looks like he's giving away his slider, he seems to slow up his whole body when he's throwing that pitch.

Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) His era means nothing... opponents still only had an ops of .664 off him last year. He actually had more appearances last season with ozzie than in the two with manuel. He was on pace to have his average if not for the dl stint. Ahh, interesting. I just remember him being used it seemed like every other day with Jerry, either way he's been terrible this year, I really do miss the Dam from the Manuel era.

Manny Ramirez
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) So, the Sox move Pods to CF, put Manny in LF Holy crap, don't even joke about that.

Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Marte has been gradually getting worse for 2 years. Personally, I think He Gone! It looks like all of those appearances he had during the manuel era got to him.

Manny Ramirez
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Rowand - if the Bo Sox feel they are better off getting rid of Manny, they will not ask for the arm and leg. Bo SOx need some $$$ space to bring in pitching in the offseason. Dumping Manny is one way to do that They have a crapload of free agents so they'll have money to spend. It's not like Manny is crippling them financially, his contract is huge but they can handle it. The only reason they'll trade him is because Manny wants out. They dont have to deal him and if they do they'll get a lot back in return.

Manny Ramirez
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) That is actually not true at all. When you look at what is cost to trade for Alex Rodriguez, who is far far far better than Manny, you would realize it will not cost that much. WHen a team is trying to dump a high priced contract (and when they need $$$ to get pitching) they make concessions on what they get back as long as it is cheap.....Damaso + ANderson should do it. Did you see what they were asking for at the deadline?? The arod situation was a whole different story. Plus, since when isn't soriano that much?

Manny Ramirez
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) What if we trade Damaso + Anderson for Manny .... I think the Red Sox would take that. Remember, it is not like there are many teams who would trade for Manny anyways, so if the Red Sox go for it, the asking price may not be much given his huge contract price Not a chance in hell they'd take that sox r us. They're going to want a kings ransom for him and wouldnt surprise me if they got exactly that from the metropolitans.

2005 BOSOX = 2000 CHISOX
Thought I'd bump this, kind of scary how right on the money this thread was.

Manny Ramirez
Manny would cost an arm and a leg. This team has a great core right now and I don't want to mess with that, there are ways to upgrade the offense without tearing this team to shreds and that's what trading for Manny would do. I don't want to mess with this pitching staff at all going into the offseason minus trading Damaso.

El Duque as set up man...
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) The one thing that does kind of make sense about it. While Marte has struggled and in my mind doesnt deserve a spot. And while we have righty pitchers who get lefties out better than marte. Look at it from a hitters perspective. Nixon for example can hit righties very well but for the most part is clueless against lefties. While that's true 101, for the most part damaso doesnt even let lefties get themselves out as he's always walking them.

El Duque as set up man...
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) I don't know if Duque should be the set-up guy or not, but good god, it's beautiful to have the pitching depth we have. So many options. I fricken love it! Our pen is ridiculously deep right now: duke, hermy, cliff, neal, bobby and then hopefully Brandon for the alcs and wow.

Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Ozzie will never do it. He loves Blum's versatility. We need Geoff on the roster. He'll be an important piece if we need to use willie to pinch run for paul or joe.

El Duque as set up man...
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) What's the point of having Marte face a lefty if he can't get him out? I really don't get this logic. It makes 0 sense, absolutely 0. Lefties have an obp of nearly .400 against him, that's just ridiculous, he should never face lefties, let alone pitch anymore. He's just not the Marte we all loved two years ago, I miss that guy.

Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Hate to say it but we need 2 lefties. He must stay. No, no we don't. Having a lefty just for the sake of having a lefty is stupid.

**Official 2005 High School Football Thread**
Stevenson beats libertyville 31 to 0.
-
How does this affect PK contract?
Making it this far already is going to bring in a s*** load of money so hopefully that alone will allow us to keep paul.
-
MVP?
I honestly can't pick one.
