  1. Anyways enough about yesterday we got Jon and Mark going the next two, Saarloos has been pitching good as of late but I still think we can nab this series, GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Thats the thing, they don't need 2 lefties. Teams can go without them plenty of times. Walker is useless so why have him up just because he's a lefty. Ozzie is just sticking to someone he saw in Tuscon and thats not the best approach in this case. Wilder and Kenny both must know that Jenks/Baj are better options, even if they aren't lefties. Walker is absolutely pathetic and doesn't deserve to sniff a major league roster. Get up someone like Baj or Jenks who can at least help the club in this type of game and at the same time get their feet wet. Both of them are lightyears better than Walker, even if they aren't left handed. Hell, Arnie Munoz is struggling, but if the Sox want a lefty I'd rather see Arnie than Walker. Arnie has better stuff and well frankly he's not Kevin Walker. Right, honestly who gives a crap about another lefty at this point, you need to be able to throw strikes and be able to get big league hitters out. I'd much rather Baj or Jenks up here or even Munoz atleast he has big league stuff.
  3. Contreras no doubt is rough to watch and frusterating as all hell, however he's been perfectly fine htis year and before his last 4 starts he was actually pretty damn awesome. I have no problem with him being here as a 4th or 5th starter, I will say however that I wouldn't want him starting a playoff game if the sox get there. If the Sox do get in the playoffs they're either going to have to go to a 3 man rotation, trade for another starter, or take our chances with el duque doing what he normally does in October. I have no part with the latter if he can proves he can still pitch at a high level after the allstar break.

    I'm going to ask one more question, hopefully I'm not bothering you. How has his control been as of late, is he always getting ahead of hitters, is he keeping his walks down??

    QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) He was tonight no one could have touched the 100 on the outside black after seeing 3 12-6 curves, When I say no one that includes Major Leaguers that pitch was sick. After the game Isenia went over to his coach and asked him what he should have done the coach said there was nothing you could have done, one of the most memorable quotes I have heard this season. Awesome, I'm just very intrigued by Jenks when he's throwing 100 and you say his best pitch is his curve that's just nasty. I appreciate the info as always.

    QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Barons 8 Montgomery 7 W- LaMura L-Autrey Sv- Jenks (18) A very exciting game a 5 run 5th was the key to the victory all started with 2 out none on Rogowski Doubled to Right, Young drew a walk, Sweeney drove a pitch high and deep to Center which I though was a homer but it was a 412 ft Triple that tied it at 4 then Aceves singled to left to make 5-4 Fields was hit by a 2-0 pitch and Blakely hit a ringing double off the LF wall both would have been long gone in Chicago. Barons Grabbed what turned to be the game winning run when Owens lead off with what appered to be triple off the RF wall but ruled a Ground Rule double instead, Gonzalez singled up the middle to score Jerry. Reynoso made things very interseting in the 8th a lead off single then a long homerun to Shawn Riggins then got a flyout then a strike out of Luis Mateo but a single to Johnny Rayburn set up an awsome matchup with Delmon Young, Razor left Reynoso in who gave up a single their next hitter is vetran Rico Washington a good hitter in his own right Jenks was called in after a 100 MPH taken strike to make a 1-2 count Jenks broke off a 12-6 and that was the end of the inning. In the 9th after a groundout and flyout Charion Isenia stood in the way first pitch was a Curve fouled off then another curve called strike, fouled a third curve off then waisted on a second 100 MPH fastball on the outside black that Isenia swung and missed at. Also to mention B.J. Lamura also pitched well. Johnathan Aceves was 3-4 Owens 2-5 and Rogo 2-4. Wow, would you consider Jenks almost unhittable at this point BHAM??
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) We shall break it down one last time. Though it won't happen seeing how the Coach of the AL AS is Francona. Lets compare Freddy Garcia's stats with Matt Clement's shall we. Garcia - W:8, L:3, ERA:3.29, CG:1, SHO:0, H:96, BB:29, SO:77, WHIP:1.12, OPSA:.641, BAA:.231, K/BB:2.57, BB/9:2.33, K/9:6.19, H9:7.71 Clement - W:9, L:2, ERA:3.82, CG:1, SHO:0, H:104, BB:35, SO:88, WHIP:1.28, OPSA:.672, BAA:.251, K/BB:2.51 BB/9:2.91, K/9: 7.31, H9:8.64 It's a damn shame Francona is the manager of the AL AS team, though he does deserve to be. Man, Freddy really has been outstanding.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) as our OF's go I know everyone seems to love Chris Young and everything, he kind of reminds me of Mike Cameron a bit... anyways although he is far from untouchable my favorite OF of our 4 would be Jerry Owens... I think he has Podsenick written all over him and we know how valuable a good leadoff man is. Best part is we basicly got him for free... claimed Escobar from the indians for nothing and traded him for owens. Owens and Sweeney are my two favorite hitters down at the minor league level. Owens for the exact reason you said, one of the hardest things in baseball to find is a good leadoff hitter, we have one at the big league level and a good solid prospect as a leadoff hitter as well with Owens. With Sweeney I just think he's going to be so good, I think his swing is absolutely beautiful.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) Or maybe he just listens to the misplaced priorities of a large portion of Sox fans. :fthecubs give me a White Sox winner. Nah, god subscribes to the sun times and believes what Mariotti writes, he told me over dinner tonight.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Then why are the Sox always Average/slightly above average every year and never win s***? God watches to much tv, he thinks the Sox only care about the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Clement got shelled and now might have less of a case than Freddy. Oh well - Tito will still pick him Freddy should be in there but you know there is no chance that Francona will pick him over senor slider.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Link If they get it done within the next half a month, oh man, will I be happy. I've said just about everything I've wanted to say about hockey over the last couple of months, so no need to post it again. But hopefully some sort of weighted draft will be put in place, that's really one of the funnest days of the summer. Git 'er done! Please! Question for you hockey fans, are they going to have to contract some teams with all the money loss from this issue and another thing do you think hockey will ever get back to even what it was before this year, in terms of fanbase???
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Is this the end of Kevin Walker? Nope, though I wish it would be.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Bases loaded... D'Angelo Jimenez... Pops it up! f***. How dare you say that name around here
  15. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) strange things? like mulder, hudson, zito and harden always being around? that's not the biggest factor? Strange things like balls getting lost in the sun or in the lights, dropped pop ups, Joe Crede getting hit and not going down to first, Joe Crede and Jermaine Dye playing shortstop. So many f'd up things have happened out there.
  16. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) huston street is filthy. and the reason why we never win in oakland is because oakland always has good pitching. No, that's not even close to being the only reason. We've been able to atleast compete with them at home, just strange things happen when we're out there.
  17. Now, try and get 4 runs, if not shake this off and take the series with Jon and Mark. This has been an ugly game no doubt but it's just that, 1 game.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Zoom and Rowand, I just looked at the stats -- sub-700 OPS. Wow, I didn't realize he's been that bad this year. I'll keep my mouth shut. Like I said Keith there has to be something wrong with him, just watching him play a few games this year you can tell his bat speed is so much slower then in years past.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Cotts, you're fired! Quit throwing strikes! You're the boss.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) I agree. Everyone talks about getting a stud SP, or that guy at the back of the bullpen -- what about an upgrade at 3B? I realize you're gonna lose a little defense if you trade for someone, but we gotta get more production out of the offense. It simply isn't that great -- adding a bat like Aubrey Huff would do a lot, IMO. But that's not for this thread, so I won't talk a whole lot about it. Aubrey Huff has been just as bad as Crede this year. I used to love Aubrey as a hitter but to me just watching him play now I think there might be something wrong with him, his bat speed has looked to slow imo.

    QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) I like the pickup of Wilton Guerrero. Now if one of our middle infielders goes down again we wont need to call up Pedro Lopez. As long as he doesn't cork his bat I have no problem with iit.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Why I am just repeating what everyone is saying. I just trying to get on the popular side. Lets just tip our hat to a better pitching performance. No, you're being sarcastic and it's old and dumb.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Nothing wrong with our offense. Its fine. Do you think your funny?? Cause you're not.
  24. Great ab right there by kendall.
