  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) As I have told everyone over and over and over. It's not losing it's being realistic that our offense is in the s***ter and is a piece of huge trash. If that continues the Twins will pass us in 2 weeks. We have to start hitting the f***ing ball. Quickman told me the exact same thing about 3 weeks ago. I believe his words were the sox pitching won't hold up and they'll be out of first place within a week. Well within that week they expanded that lead. I shudder to think what this place we'll be like if we ever dont' have the best record in the game this year.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) I said I didn't think we were a superior team, and the main reason I said that was because I didn't think we would consistently be able to win 3-2 games, etc. over the course of the season. Hell, I even said I didn't think we were a superior team when some of our guys were still hitting. Our recent pathetic hitting performances have done nothing to make me think otherwise. Until we stop have 3 or 4 easy out batters in our lineup, we're not going to be a good offensive teams. It's sad to think of the days when Royce Clayton and his .250 avg was considered mediocre. My point is you've got so down on this team when they lose 2 or 3 in a row, they're in a stretch where they're playing very good teams while in a hitting slump and still a bit over .500 during this stretch. We don't have to blow this team up after every mini losing streak. Like I said I bet Jon and Mark win these next two then all will be right with the world.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Everything is good when we hit under .200 for a week Take off your f***ing Sox blinders and realize this team has big time deficiencies despite a good record. I am sick of people just refuting valid points regarding team problems with, well we have a good record. He's right though. Every losing streak even a 2 game losing streak results in this team sucks, blah blah blah. We'll probably win these next 2 games and we'll be the world series winners again, to many people are to low or to high after a single loss or win. We have some weaknesses but everyone does, they'll be fine no reason to go giving up. It gets ridiculous after every single loss, he's absolutely right about that.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Anyone who thinks this team is actually the best in baseball right now, regardless of record, is insane. We don't get hits, don't take walks, don't run the bases well, and don't hit for consistent power. Ahh, a few weeks ago you were asking us if we really though this team was a superior team cause they lost 3 in a row, then they started winning again. Last week same crap, sox start winning again. So of course a 2 game winning streak brings out the same junk, they've been the best team in baseball since mid april and they still are, hitting slump or not.
  5. QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) you're the one that typed it s***head. learn to put a sentence together. Ahh, we're always so friendly around here.
  6. QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) 4-2 in three starts huh? WOW. pretty amazing No, his overall record is 4 and 2 and he has a 1.69 era in his last 3 starts. The sox offense is definitely funking right now but Young's a good pitcher.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) I like Ramos a lot. Problem is if the Sox picked him they would be reaching according to the projections I've seen. Its too bad they didn't have a supplemental cause he'd be perfect there. Bogusevic is a really good southpaw as is Ricky Romero. Personally I think Bogusevic has a better build in terms of a major league pitcher and yes I do have a negative bias on Romero simply because he's so small and his delivery is more violent than I'd like (That and he throws so many damn breaking pitches...all that said he's got an insane amount of heart and has improved so much since coming to Fullerton). As far as Cesar. The guy lost his first game ever in NCAA at one point this year (or at least I thought it was his first lost ever). The guy doesn't have amazing stuff, but he does everything well. Throws 3 good pitches (fastball, curve, change). Don't know if he has a slider, only saw him pitch in part of a game on TV. Good command and knowhow. Isn't very projectable in terms of adding velocity, etc. Correct, he had his first ever loss earlier this year.
  8. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) I have talked with Rich Dotson the pitching coach and Bobby is greatful that the sox's have given him this chance and now that he has been cut now knows he can take nothing for granted he is actually very soft spoken and is working on his weight problem lost 15 pounds since joining the sox's and is at the park working with Dotson and conditioning coach Joe Geck. That's fantastic to hear. If he can just keep his head on straight we might have a stud closer down in the system ready to go next year, that'd be something.......
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) No doubt about that. In his prime Belle was amazing. JR surprised us with his signing back in the day, maybe he'll surprise us with an Adam Dunn trade... It seems like such a pipe dream but I wouldn't put anything past kenny.....
  10. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) On my birthday, 8/8, I will be in attendance at Yankee Staduim to watch our beloved Sox play, obviously, The Yankees. Anyone been to New York than give this first timer some tips? I've been there. My favorite part of the stadium was probably taking the subway, coming out of the tunnel and just seeing the stadium there, that's pretty cool. Besides that go to monument park if it's open which it never is when I go. If you're sitting in the UD try not to fall down, that's all I got for you. Have fun.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) I'm sorry, but I just don't see how calling someone "Belle-esque" is a compliment. Belle was one hell of a hitter, he might have been an asshole but he could flat out rake.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) isn't that the kid you like? I'm not directing this at you because I do the same thing, I just think it's funny how we call these guys "kids" when we're younger then them. Ozzie Guillen syndrome I guess.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) The good-scary part about this is Jenks is likely just now getting healthy and rounding into form. Your right, he's probably just going to keep getting better and better
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Looking at Mac's numbers this year, he would look to be a great pickup, and like Fathom said, certainly not out of the question. I would also like to throw Adam Dunn's name out there again. While he is an OF, he is a LH bat who hits for a TON of power, and while has alot of K's, also a good number of walks. With that, the entire Reds team is up for sale, so he can defenitly be had. Adam Dunn would be the most amazing pick up of all time. Not only would we be able to throw him in the outfield for this year but then he takes over for Pauly next year at 1st when Anderson takes over in rf. Wow, the thought of Dunn in a sox uni just puts a smile on my face.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) I don't think our needs have been clearly established yet. Sure we can use some more hitting, but who and where? I believe KW is exploring possibilities out there as we speak, and may be able to pull the trigger on a major deal ... like for Chavez. When we get closer to July 31, he'll be focused on plugging holes. Agreed. First I want to see how the offense performs once Frank comes back who knows he might provide a jolt to the whole team. The one guy I'm worried about is Crede, I'm willing to give him another month or so but I'm not 100 percent sure he'll turn it around. As far as Juan I'm positive he'll be fine he's just streaky we all knew that coming into this year and he's just in a down streak right now. Like Yas said, I'm 100 percent sure if Frank comes back and the offense continues to struggle overall that Kenny will go out and find someone to help the offense probably at 3rd base.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) I see utah trading up (why wouldn't portland trade down? They don't need paul and they'd get green at 6 ( who they could really use) . Great place for a high schooler to go.
  17. Ouch, I didn't see it happen but getting hit flush in the elbow is one of the more painful places to be hit.
  18. Happy bday to one of the greatest hitters of all time!!!!!!!
  19. The most important thing with Frank is that he's feeling good after playing on the foot. Frank will hit and he's probably bored down there anyways, it might take him some time to get back to Frank like but he'll help no matter what once he's back in the lineup cause even if he's not killing the ball out of the gate he'll be on base a lot.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Jacob's Field has the steepest UD I've ever sat in. It's scary. I've never been to Jacobs field but wow the upper deck at yankee stadium is nuts, I felt like I was going to fall over every time I walked down the stairs.
  21. QUOTE(cubbiesssuck2005 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Go to the UD in yankee stadium and then see how steep it is. The UD at the cell is not that steep at all and it's a great view.
  22. Wow, f*** YEAH!!!!!!!!1
  23. Phew 2 down, almost fainted there.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) I think my heart skipped a beat when he made that throw to second. How many times do you see a pitcher throw that ball away late in a game? All the freakin time, I was waiting for it to happen, no doubt. I was scared beyond belief.
