  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) I am not a Dunn hater by any stretch. He does hustle, and seems like a good teammate, but his performance in each year he has been in a White Sox uniform has been less than was expected when he signed his contract. And nobody is arguing that. You decided to argue that 2011 isn't a complete aberration when it clearly is, that's all Wite and I are saying.
  2. Andre Johnson is really starting to worry me. And Gronk still isn't cleared to play, WHAT THE f***
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Obviously facts won't stand in your way. The last 3 months of 2012, combined, he hit below .200 with an OBP below .300, and had to be held out of the final game so he wouldn't establish a record for striking out in a season. Last year in April, May and September his highest average was .165, and highest OBP was .250. That is half a season. While players do fluctuate, he is abnormally bad for extremely long periods of time. He was extremely good the other 3 months of 2013, so he obviously has or at least had something left. To think anyone being reasonable would be shocked if Adam Dunn was that bad again is a reach. The facts are in the last 2 full seasons he's come no where near that garbage year of 2011. You can cherry pick stats all you want but the fact is 2011 was clearly a complete aberration.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 12:46 AM) IMO, complaining about not kicking the FG in the first is a little ridiculous. You're facing an 0-5 team. You have the ball at the 2 and it's your first drive of the game. With the confidence Trestman has in the offense, why not go for it? If you score, it's instant demoralization for the Giants. If you don't score, you still have the Giants pinned deep in their own zone. Even if you screw it up to the point that you turn the ball over, the absolute worst case scenario is some horrible turnover that goes 98+ yards the other way, and the chances of that are very slim. I was totally on board with going for it. The problem was the play calling on the first 3 downs. The Bears ran like 20 million draws in the redzone yesterday and I don't think one of them went for more than a yard.
  5. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) Nonsense. I remember watching Dunn try to play the outfield with Nats in 2010. What a joke. An embarassment. Plus he struck out about 200 times. Then in 2011 he hit .159 for Sox. And 2 years later he has proven that 2011 was a complete aberration.
  6. Me having Forte and my opponent having the Bears d resulted in a 14.1 to 14 Thursday night, fun way to start the week. The great thing about having Forte is his floor is so damn high, his bad games are still going to result in a decent amount of points.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Last note: I'm not saying the Nets are definitively out of the picture. I definitely think they're better than the rest of the East. What I said was I have to see how it works before I put them above one of the other three "contenders" in the East. I have considerably more faith in the Bulls and Pacers (and obviously the Heat). You can say they're out of it. They're better than the rest of the east but they're not on the same level as the top 3, they just aren't.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 06:23 PM) No way. The Nets are a terrible match-up for the Bulls. You beat a Thibs-style defense with spacing, passing and shooting. The Nets have all that and then some. Pacers are a much better match-up for the Bulls. Ha ok.
  9. Going against the Bears defense while they play Eli Manning is going to be scary tonight.
  10. I usually think the NBA regular season is pretty useless but this year that 1 seed in the east is going to be huge. The Nets are improved but I'd much rather see them in the 2nd round and let the Heat deal with the Pacers there.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Guys play hurt all the time. He did sit out several games. It was no secret. They mentioned it several times. He was obviously limping along a lot. Professionals play, and don't worry about what it will look like on baseballreference.com. The team didn't have better options.I don't know why that is some managerial accountability problem. There's always an excuse for him. At some point everyone is just going to have to realize he's not a good hitter and stop with the excuses.
  12. Teams celebrate after winning every series, not sure why this is a surprise to anyone.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) Andre trying to get Ellie into the van was fantastic. Hilarious. The whole episode was good.
  14. Hope he does go to the Cubs, that'd be fun.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 12:03 AM) Revolution is on the "on demand" rotation. That means it usually gets watched in random batches. It definitely never blew me away, but there is a part of me that really wants it to. I've actually really liked this season so far. The last two episodes have been really entertaining IMO.

Badger you still watching Revolution? Or am I officially the only person that still does ha.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) He's still an idiot, as he could have traded him. Too quick of a trigger finger there on the drop. Ya he was definitely quick on the trigger, he's one of the smarter guys in the league too. He didn't think it fully through.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 05:24 PM) Why would anyone drop him in a keeper league? We have interesting keeper rules so it made sense from his point of view. Julio will be a 2nd rounder in our keeper format next year and he's got Gio Bernard who would also be a 2nd rounder so if he wanted to keep both he'd have to make Julio or Gio a 1st rounder. Now from my point of view, I already have 2 rb's for next year(Marshawn as a 4th rounder and Le'Veon Bell as a 7th rounder) so I most likely would be taking a WR in the 2nd round anyways. If I don't make the playoffs, it's a no brainer to keep Julio as a back end 2nd round pick. If I'm in playoff contention(which I should be) towards the end of the season here, I package Julio to one of the teams out of it for something that I need.
  19. I just used my number 1 waiver priority to pick up Julio Jones. Hooray keeper leagues.
  20. So the NFL might be adding playoff teams by 2015? Ugh...
  21. QUOTE (Boogua @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 07:30 AM) It's so hard to make predictions because a lot of it depends on health, team chemistry, etc. There are too many unknowns. As of now the Heat obviously have to be the favorite, but could you imagine them having a to play a completely healthy Nets team that play well together? How would the Heat counter KG and Lopez? Who would guard D-Will? The Bulls completely healthy would obviously give them a run for their money too. The Bulls could give them similar problems to what the Pacers did last year except that they would have a much better backcourt and a star player to go through down the stretch. It's just way too early. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls pulled off the 1 seed this year. That's kind of the point of predictions.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) They have twice lost the World Series. How are they undefeated when facing elimination? And they lost the 2011 ALCS. I assume he meant in the divisional series.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) What? How in the world is that vetoed? That's a really fair trade, ridiculous for that to be vetoed.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) It's only a bad pick because we didn't know he had a serious ankle injury beforehand. I think week 7 on we see the normal Roddy White. If we knew it was a high ankle sprain in preseason, he would have moved down a bit. Knowing what we knew, he was fine as a 3rd rounder. That's less on owners, more on just not having the right information because they withheld it from everyone. Ya, he started to look much better yesterday. Give him the bye week and you might start to get Roddy White like production out of him in week 7.
  25. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) Fans singing in unison and dancing when an athlete is announced and enters the game... If I were an A's fan attending a game and that happened, I would renounce my fandom. I would most likely get shiv'd, because that seems to be the thing to do at baseball games in California, but it would be a matter of principle. I abhore the late '80s/early '90s cheese of Major League. It belongs inside the VHS player gathering dust in your basement and nowhere else. Why?
