QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) So, what kind of jobs will Brad Stevens get now? One trip to the Championship with Heyward, then a Final Four appearance without him. None of the jobs available should even interest him. He can wait until one of the better jobs in the country is available. He's got a great gig going for him at Butler and there's no reason to bolt for an average BCS job.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) That's exactly what I just said to my friend. I don't see any way they don't end up in the Championship game. I don't see VCU beating KU but Butler has something magical going for them, I wouldn't count them out in a game against Kansas.

Go Butler!

Obviously you'd have to be quite stupid to count Butler out at all but I think this is where their run comes to an end.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) Everything like what? Certainly not statistics or actual results. As Freshman Sean May 11 points 8 reb 47% FG 57 % FT Jared Sullinger 17 points 10 reb 54%FG 70% ft national freshman of the year. Heres a better comparison (pretty decent chance) 13.4 points 7.3 reb 59% fg 60% FT Thats Elton Brand as a freshman In case you were wondering the impact the players actually had on their teams in comparison: May: 125 points 89 rebounds Brand: 281 points 154 rebounds Sullinger: 635 points 377 rebounds I'm not talking college statistics, the way they play the game/body type/athleticism, Sullinger reminds me exactly of Sean May. Jared is a spectacular collegiate player and if he does indeed stay next year, he's going to put up some insane numbers. That being said, I see him as Sean May in the pros, the end.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) Without saying it, it seems people are hating on Sullinger for some reason today. They act like he didn't do anything last night. A freshmen in an elite 8 game puts in 21 and grabs 16 rebounds. That's sick and anyone saying he is Sean May, is out of their mind. This coming from a guy who hates Ohio State. Get serious folks. I'm certainly not hating on him for his performance last night but there's a pretty decent chance he'll become Sean May in the NBA. May was pretty damn awesome in college as well. Everything and I mean everything about Sullinger, reminds me of Sean May.

Sullinger already coming out and saying that he's staying in school for next year. Lets see if that lasts...

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Hmm two mid-majors in the elite 8. VCU, on paper, should get absolutely spanked by Kansas. But heck, George Mason was an 11 seed from the CAA and they shocked mighty UConn. For VCU to win 4 games to get to the elite 8 is rather amazing though, I thought it'd be a long time before we saw a play-in game team in the elite 8. I don't think Butler is a Cinderella at all, but VCU certainly is. That UConn team was really talented but they were really vulnerable too. I love what VCU has done but I really can't see them getting by this KU team, hope I'm wrong. Just something of note too: VCU has beaten a team from the Pac 10, Big 10, Big East and ACC so far this tournament, obviously they're facing a team from the Big 12 in Kansas and if they can somehow pull that off, they could possibly play a team from the SEC in the final four. So in theory, it's possible for them to beat a team from each of the power 6 conferences on route to the National Title game. Kinda Crazy.

Soxtalk Yahoo & ESPN NCAA Tournament Bracket Leagues
Well I got 3 of the e8 but they all happen to be my final four teams as well. The one ff team I lost was my Champion but I can still finish 2nd in one of my pools and win the other two, kinda crazy.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Hey, didn't know the appropriate forum to post this in but down in Cdale I don't have many friends that follow the Wsox, all Cardinal/Cub lovers, was wondering how many of Soxtalkers are down here that would be cool with catching a game from time to time. Go to Pinch, there will be plenty of Sox fans there.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) I knew this game would be a tough one. A game like that is exactly why I thought OSU got screwed on their draw. They had a good team, but they had to get through Kentucky and UNC/Syracuse just to get to the Final Four. Both of those teams tonight deserved a deep tournament run, but they got stuck in the same bracket instead of putting someone good in the Pitt bracket. I hope what I said to you before the tournament started didn't sway you in picking this game.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) True to some extent but UK just absolutely locked down OSU on the perimeter. I really didn't feel like OSU was getting good looks at the basket tonight. Just a good and simple game plan. Let Harrellson go 1 on 1 with Sullinger and just keep their perimeter guys locked down and with the length of UK it's not exactly the easiest thing to get an open look if they're not rotating to double off Sully.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) This tournament has been fun but it has also confirmed what everyone already knew which is that college basketball was really bad this year and there weren't any great teams. Well there's no doubt about that. Think there's going to be a little NBA talent out on the court during that UK-UNC game on Sunday?

Arguments for Dunn's spot in lineup
Quentin will be a better hitter than Rios this year but I don't want either of them batting 3rd to start the season. Dunn should be in the 3 hole at the beginning of the year.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) I think I'm going to wager a large margin against Arizona in the Elite 8. They are literally playing as well as they possibly can. That's screams letdown to me. Absolutely.

Good half Butler. Good thing Wisconsin can shoot the 3 because a 9 pt lead is pretty steep in a game with so few possessions...

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) I think so. Barnes and Kanter are the only other two options. This would be my order right now. 1. Irving 2. Williams 3. Barnes 4. Kanter It obviously depends who is drafting where but for me, I still go Barnes before Williams as Derrick is a joy to watch right now but he's still too much of a tweener NBA player for me. He can shoot the ball, which is huge obviously but taking people off the dribble or posting people up in the NBA is going to be quite the chore for him imo.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Duke played a perfect half of basketball and Derrick Williams kept Arizona in the game by himself. Irving and Williams are putting on a show for the NBA scouts. 1 and 2 in the draft this year? Very possible.
