Mark Buehrle talks about the future after 2011
Rowand44 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 07:22 AM) I think the AL Central has and will continue to figure him out. You can only fool people with junk for so long. Yes, after a whole decade of pitching, the AL Central will finally figure him out, couldn't agree more. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) I can't tell you how many times I've gotten myself in a lot of trouble because of drunk texting. It's bad news. Yeup.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 07:40 AM) Buehrle is a sort of Pujols situation for us. We know if we extend him, we will probably be paying him for more than he is worth at the end of his contract. Do the Sox owe him that? Do the Sox have to do it to appease their fanbase? Mark Buehrle at this point is probably my favorite athlete of all time but the Sox owe him nothing and if he wants too much money than you have to let him walk.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 12:59 AM) His ability to eliminate the opponents' running game somewhat negates his mediocre peripherals. And he's certainly not a $14 million dollar a year pitcher. But it would be a sad, sad day were Mark to go elsewhere. Who gives a hoot about his peripherals? We know what we're getting from him every year, he's a guy that his secondary stats mean absolutely nothing.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
Rowand44 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) And you have no idea that this won't delay his progress as a starting pitcher either. No, neither of us know if this will help or hinder his development as a starter but I do know that this is the best situation for our team this year so it makes the most sense by far. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Do you have any idea how bad CQ was in RF? Smallz from the Sandlot wouldn't have been any worse. Unless you're prime Manny Ramirez with the bat, you have negative value overall when you're that horrendous defensively. Don't hate on Smallz.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
Rowand44 replied to Brian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
So glad the NCAA expanded the tournament with the mass amount of quality teams sitting on the bubble this year. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 12:30 AM) and worse for 2012 and 2013 and so on. And you have no idea if this is true. -
Rose is awesome. This Bulls team is as well.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) No. Most people have TVs these days. I was coming back from the gym, jackass

Was anyone else trying to listen to the game on the radio in the middle of the 2nd quarter? That was f***in annoying.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) who did this? Dante Stallworth, milkman has his sports mixed up.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) I'd say Dye in 05 turned out to be pretty big. Or was that the end or 04. Offseason going into 05. This is obviously the biggest at the time fa signing we've had in forever but JD will definitely go down as one of the best Sox offseason signings of all time.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) I really don't anticipate much of an adjustment period for Noah. His game is all energy, rebounding and defensive positioning -- all things that he can do fine coming back from his injury. Ya, for the most part. he's still a 14 ppg scorer so you might get a few less points from him per game but everything else he should be ok at. That being said, playing a basketball game at full speed is a lot different than just running on a treadmill so even though everyone has said that he's stayed in tremendous shape, he might not fully be in basketball shape when he returns.

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Rowand44 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) That's like saying he's been holding back. Lol. If he were any better he'd be '04 Bonds. Ha, I know it sounds absurd. Obviously he's not holding back, but he really does look to be in the best shape of his career. So ya, I guess I am talking about some sort of historic season here. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Now that is beautiful.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) I'm kind of enjoy the world sans Mariotti I agree. Seems more peaceful.

Rowand44 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) The Rangers are afraid to move Feliz to the rotation because he was so good in relief. But they have a stocked system with premium pitching 'spects like Perez and Scheppers. I know I'm a pessimist now. I can admit that. I drank the last of my 2005 kool-aid when we trotted Mark Kotsay out there and traded our top pitching prospect for a year and two months of Javy the sequel. I just think they're not going to want to move him if he does indeed flourish. Which I expect he will. We're going to need a starting pitcher next season and he's for sure going to get the first chance, I'm positive on this. People need to remember that he's still 21(turning 22 next month) and this is going to be his first full season in professional baseball, it's not like he's been stuck in the minors for 4 season with out a chance to prove he can be a starter. He has a ton of value to our bullpen right now and not so much to our rotation. He belongs in our bullpen this season, and he deserves a shot to crack the rotation next year. As Wite said, if he's not given an opportunity to start next year than you guys have a right to complain and I guarantee you a lot more of us will be right there with ya. -
Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Rowand44 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
BTW, Albert's just going to have a monster year(even by his standards), he looks to be in better shape than usual and now that he's playing for a contract, watch out. -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) I'll be glad when he takes his ass back to Missouri. Go pitch for the Cardinals. FMB. Laughable. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Once again, he should just man up and say that its his opinion and his entitled to it. Not sure how you want him to "man up" anymore. The guy has stuck by his opinion throughout even when there's been a bit of backlash by some people.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
Rowand44 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) I can see it now. "Sale was so good in relief, why mess with a good thing?" Jackson is good as gone. Mark is a FA. Peavy will be high risk for as long as we have him. We don't want to give Danks the years it will require to lock him up. And our best SP prospect is Jacob Petricka. That's a whole lotta fail. And you just made the exact point on why Sale will indeed be tried out as a starter next season.
