People either completely overrate or underrate our players all the time. It's what happens when you have thousands of people trying to value someones worth on a message board.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Right, because Mark Teahen has been a great player in his career right? It's funny you guys act like Jason Bay has been a league average player over his career. Maybe you don't give him any credit because he played for Boston, or because he was traded for Manny, or some other irrational reason, but he has had a lot of great years over his career. He just happens to be having a bad year, and got injured. Maybe a player turns to suck after 1 year in your mind, but I am much more forgiving. The over reaction and overrating of our players here is pretty laughable. Dude, you're normally a very intelligent poster but that trade offer is just absolutely awful.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Garcia? C'mon now. And Buehrle is declining and has one year left on his contract. Peavy is a major health Risk. We're nowhere close to knowing what we have in Jackson. And Sale, while ridiculously talented, is an unknown. The only sure things we have right now are Danks and Floyd. I'm not against trading either for a legitimate package. But this does not include Jason Bay. I agree with everything except the fact that you mention Mark is declining. He seems to have been pretty damn consistent in his numbers the last few years now, including this one.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Has he hit 104 on a big league calibrated gun? And can he do so repeatedly? Hit 103.9 and 103.8 I believe last night, so ya it's legit.

QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) I can't think of a better way for the Sox to start the 2011 season than with Danks, Floyd, Peavy, Buehrle, Jackson and Sale. I'd bet that if one of those guys are traded we'll at least get a competent mlb starter back as part of the deal. Kenny loves to have 6 capable sp's around it seems and I highly doubt we rush Sale to the rotation.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) It is. But it seems like every team in baseball has at least one guy consistently hitting 100 MPH. True but 104?!?!? And that slider he's breaking off is f***in nasty as well. Freak of f***in nature, hopefully he can stay healthy.

Ya that'd be nice. There's no chance in hell Cleveland would consider such a deal but dreaming is fun.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Looking at Brooksbaseball, pitch f/x had him sitting at 102.11 and topping out at 103.9 f***in absurd.

Ozzie Keeping Sox In Race Without a Bullpen
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) No he is not. We are 13 or 14 over .500 with a so-so team. Your argument is so strong when you don't even know how many games over .500 the team is.

Ozzie Keeping Sox In Race Without a Bullpen
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/p...nded/order/true What's strange is that we have 14 blown saves out of 48 SO. Minnesota has 14/45, so our successful save conversion rate is actually higher. Maybe it just seems that when Minnesota blows a game, they usually win it at least half the time. We have the games against Minnesota, Seattle, the Tigers, the Royals...it seems we've had at least one blown save per series after the ASB. Well the pen was fantastic the first half of the season, it just started getting ridiculously awful the last few weeks here, so it's not that crazy that the stats aren't completely terrible yet.

Konerko....
Ya, it all depends on the deal that Paulie is willing to take. I'd offer him two plus a team option for a 3rd but that's it. Unfortunately that might not be enough and you might have to let him go.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) He is a great comleemnt in the pen to Thornton, but to say he has anything better than Matt may be a stretch at this point. He's got better overall stuff than Matt and a much better slider, that's not a stretch it's just the truth. Doesn't mean he's a better pitcher at this point but his stuff is certainly better.

The September Call Ups
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) well, s***, I thought after his injury in 2008, in 2009 he cleared waivers and was sent to AAA without having to be on the 40. Did they put him back? I stand corrected. He started the season on the 25 man roster, my friend.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Whatever it was, I guess at 85-87, those pitches had to be change-ups? They were definitely change ups. Confused the hell out of the first batter with it as I'm sure it's not even on the scouting report yet as he never uses that pitch.

Sox @ Indians
I feel like that's the least adventurous 9th inning we've had in a long time and that still resulted in 2 runners on base with less than 2 outs, ha.

Seriously, baseball needs to shorten games to 8 innings.
