  1. Love how we called up Dayan to sit on the bench, I'm at a loss for words.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) The starters were too s***ty for too long a period for any of them to make it. What do the other starters have to do with Danks?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) As far as Jenks, I don't apologize for listing him as somebody who could or should make it. He's been one of the better closers in baseball and sometimes they take guys on reputation and he's had a great season so far. Just look at all the Red Sox and Yankees who make it on reputation year after year. If you guys want to continue to devalue White Sox players, go ahead. Jenks ranks right up there with the elite closers. He has for years. Seriously?!? I don't even know what else to say besides that because that comment is so laughable. Anyways, Rios, Danks and Konerko should all be in the conversation but ultimately I believe it should just be Alex.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Lebron making me hate him more and more each day. But his ego might be what lands him in Chicago. I can't stand the guy at the moment but I'll be the first person to buy his jersey if he signs here.
  5. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) Thought this was pretty good.... I listen to that all the time, it's pretty funny.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) As for the ref, yes he was terrible but the US will probably get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to decisions in their next game, and other teams have been screwed by refs in this tournament as well so far, so the USA haven't been alone there. It happens to everyone, it's just luck of the draw. And a lot of them don't speak English, FIFA basically get the best from each conference IIRC. I'd bet a lot of money against that. The US never gets the benefit of the doubt in soccer, it just doesn't happen.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) If England ties slovania and the US ties, than it depends on the total number of goals. Right now we have a 2 goal cushion on them, given that we have scored 3 goals to there 1 goal. So if both US and England tie the next game, as long as England doesn't outscore us by 3 or more goals in the final game, we'd advance. If they outscore us by 2 we'd have the same amount of goals so we'd draw lots, he's right.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) If USA beats Algeria, US advances. IF USA ties Algeria: & England beats Slovenia, US is out & Slovenia beats England, US advances & England ties Slovenia: if England doesn't outscore US by more than 1 goal on Wed., US advances if England outscores US by more than 2 goals on Wed., England advances if England outscores US by exactly 2 goals on Wed., then they draw lots for 2nd place in the group If Algeria beats USA, then US is out Does that sound right? Exactly right. Well done.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) So now a US win and we are for sure in right? Am I mistaken? England & USA win, US & England advance. Goal Differential will be the 1st tiebreaker to see who the top dog is. Next one would be goals scored (US currently has a 2 goal advantage on them in this area). England loses, US wins; US advances as the 2 seed; Slovenia earns 1 seed. Correct. Now if the US ties and England/Slovenia tie then we still have a pretty good shot at advancing because of the 2 extra goals we've scored in comparison to England at this point.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) England ties with Algeria. Looks like a win over Algeria won't be easy. U.S. still very much alive. Can you imagine the crap the British tabloids will put on this English team? A 0 to 0 tie was the best result we could have hoped for. Win and we advance with a pretty good chance at winning the group as well. We now even have a shot at advancing with a draw(hopefully it doesn't come to that though).
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) Yeah, but at this point I think you just have to assume US is in with a win, not with anything else. Placing doesn't matter either, with Group D in chaos. I think it'll be much easier playing an Algerian side with nothing to play for than one with hopes of advancing. You could always see them putting guys forward to expose our weak D. I think it's pretty reasonable to believe that Slovenia could tie England so no offense but I'm rooting like hell for Algeria in this game.
  12. Well after all that bulls***, go Algeria! If they can at least tie all we need to do is win our next game and we advance.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) They were clearly biased against the US during that game to the point that I've heard from friends watching with Mexican commentators, British commentators, etc. that they were all ripping on the ref and saying that the US got screwed not just on that call but throughout the game. Hell one of those yellow cards could have been a red card (where Altidore had a clear run if he wasn't fouled) and probably would have been called a red if the US committed a similar foul. I'm really not sure how that wasn't a red. When you have a one on one break like that and the defender blatantly pulls you down, that has to be a red imo.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Right which is why I qualified my statement with: If you see the US and Slovenia tie for points. Ya, well if they tie for points one of the teams could still score a different amount of goals.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) So right now Slovenia has 3 goals, US has 3 goals. If the US and Slovenia tie for points you are going to see the unheard of playoff. Well there's still a game left, so not necessarily.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Donovan said the referee wouldn't tell them what the call was. WTF Wow. What a f***in joke.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) What is the next tiebreaker after goal differential? Goals scored I believe.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Well the TV called offside. If they called a foul, I dont' know how the f*** it was on because the only contact I saw was the guy bear hugging Bradley. I don't think anyone knows what the f*** he called. It was a phantom f***in call, the end.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) No way. This was completely lopside and cost us 1 for sure goal, 1 player, and one possible goal. He was f***ing awful. And there were more than just those calls. A goal, a player, 2 points and possibly an advancement into the knockout stage, doesn't get much worse than that.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) The players have to focus on the next game. As a fan I choose to continue to b**** about criminal officiating. Exactly. I'm seriously shaking cause I'm so f***in furious right now.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Horrible call, but have to focus on the next game. Basically if they win against Nigeria by 2, they should be in the next round no matter what other circumstances happen. I guess you want Nigeria to beat England, which would then force England to have to beat Slovenia, and give the US an automatic berth if they beat Nigeria. Going to be hard to beat Nigeria when we play Algeria.
  22. I seriously want to go to South Africa and beat the s*** out of that ref. What a f***in disgrace. That was just flat out cheating.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) Beating Americans in World Cup soccer is kind of like picking on the mentally handicapped kid in your class. Or not.
  24. This is f***in depressing.
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Saluki fans..... Apparently Anthony Booker is now a Cyclone. What should I know? Sonik summed it up well, however, I will say that I believe under the right tutelage, he'll become a game changer for you guys. Dude has a ton of talent and even if he doesn't score, as long as he doesn't foul, he'll help your team win.
