  1. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Polar Bear is today. I'm going to get pretty hammered. You go to polar bear or a different bar? What a great day yesterday was, started drinking at 11 in the morning and stopped at 6 this morning. BTW, Vodka and Redbull must be the worst hangover ever. I'm having one hell of a time typing right now cause my whole body is pretty much tweaking.
  2. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) I don't think so. It's as risky as hell, but I'd have done it. At the least, he should've stopped at the line until someone got close then stepped over, just to kill a little bit more time. He was way out in front of everyone. Wow.
  3. I waited a whole 25 minutes to get my free grand slam on Tuesday. Well worth it.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) what is there, 31 teams? So assuming a random distribution you'd expect every team to have a least 3 guys in the top 100. So Sox are just average there. anyways, I put very little stock in Law's observations. He goes and watches a player once or twice than passes judgment. He basically admits as much in the article. Not my idea of proper scouting, which should be a mix of DETAILED and SUSTAINED observation and statistical analysis. 30. And like others said, it's just one mans opinion but overall I can't put much stock in Law's opinion when he said we had a bad draft this year. He's just not paying any attention if he really believes that.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Apparently you didn't read my earlier post about the timing of other international events. Once again, comparing baseball to any other sport just doesn't work.
  6. Any random baseball tournament is just a whole lot different than any other sport because of the aspect of pitching. It's that simple really, you can't get true results unless you pretty much cancel two major league seasons because of the way managers have to manage in this stupid thing. The best players in the world are supposed to be getting ready for the season, not playing competitively, and you got pitchers no where near full strength trying to pitch in this. IMO that's what makes this event dumb, you can't ever get a true result because of the timing and the way you have to manage around this thing.
  7. Stacked? Ya, I don't think so. The SIU game last night was absolute garbage basketball, we looked pretty bad but hopefully it's another confidence booster as any road win is huge. Like Kyyle said, Dillard is a freakin stud, so thank god for him. I'm also starting to fall in love with Ryan Hare, he's by far the most aggressive guy on this team and it's starting to pay off big time. We've come a long way in the last few weeks but the team is definitely still a work in progress. I'm actually starting to have some faith in this squad though, the game @ Ill State on Saturday should tell us a lot on where we're at.
  8. No, the fact is, pitching any amount of competitive innings when your arm isn't ready, is a lot different and a lot more stressful than just getting ready for the season by pitching spring training. I hate having any of our pitchers in this stupid thing(yes, I think it's stupid) especially a guy who is as important to our team as John Danks.
  9. I absolutely hate the fact that Danks is going to pitch.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 08:30 AM) Definitely. To have beaten Creighton in Omaha would of been a huge mental boost. Just gotta handle pressure and take care of the ball down the stretch. They showed some highlights on SportsCenter. Did Dillard even touch the kid at the end of regulation? Looked like he just put his hand up. Charge on Hare was a total flop as well. He blocked it and it was exactly that though, a clean block. That was a brutal call as was the charge on Hare. Still, you can't blow two leads like that but those are the kinds of things I expected this year. We're finally showing signs of getting better and a lot better. Took a long ass time but we're getting there. As for guarding P'Allen, he was unguardable to be completely honest. He was hitting shots with hands in his face all day, he's just a stud. Overall, that was a building block type game, we played really well on the road against a rival, just couldn't close. I can honestly say, this is the first time all year that I've started to gain some confidence in this squad.
  11. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) Versteeg got in a last-second fight with one of the Coyotes last time and The Great Player, But Not Great Coach got sand in his crack about it. Lol, gotcha. Thanks.
  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Will be interesting to see if the Yotes target Versteeg tonight. For the new comer hockey fan like myself, is there history there, I assume?
  13. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) I remember going to the arcade and wasting tokens upon tokens on all of these games. Indeed. The Simpsons and X Men games were definitely great arcade games. I just remember beating the Turtles game about a million times on Super Nintendo as it would only take like a hour.
  14. We still don't have a ton of depth but I can't remember the last time our top 4 prospects have had that much potential. Definite upgrade over last season.
  15. I still think Jon Garland would be the perfect pick up for this team but maybe that's just me.
  16. I am bored out of my f'n mind.
  17. We're such a dumb f***in team, thanks to Dillard we're only down 36-31 at half though. Dillard's halftime line: 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists. Everyone else has just been pure garbage.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) Who cares what some USA Today writer said....a lot of Colts fans are still happy with what they accomplished and still really love the organization that's been assembled. Honestly, how could you not? The success of that franchise is tremendous. If the team never won a super bowl, I would understand some of the ripping but they've won theirs. Pretty garbage article imo.
  19. UNC in a ton of trouble. SIU still looking like garbage so far, how nice.
  20. QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) Patrick Kane has been scratched for tonight. Blah, no good.
  21. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I haven't paid as close of attention as usual this year. What's up with SIU this year? What seems to be the problem? What is their record right now? I'll save you a whole lot of reading and just say that literally everything is going wrong. We're 5-8 with no signs of improving at this point. I think everyone expected some growing pains with such a young group but we also expected for things to improve as the season went on, and so far we're just getting worse. There is some talented guys on this team but we just can't put everything together. If a team goes on a little bit of a run, everything just seems to collapse all at once and that's pretty much happened every game this season. It's just a bad basketball team at this point. EDIT: On a side note, your Aces are much, much improved this season.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) Hopefully will be on espn360 since I don't have ESPNU. This season will be easier to take if you just resign yourself to the fact we will take our lumps. Let the frosh and sophs play. Ya. As lost as he is right now, Booker needs to start playing more. He's a talented dude, he's just completely lost on the court at this point. I'd like to see his and Bocot's minutes go up a bit. We'll see though, Lowery isn't the type of coach that just lets the young guys play most of the time.
  23. If anyone wants to watched a very confused basketball team, turn on espnu at 6.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) If they play, I see a penalty goal winner by Charlie Conway. Ha, well played.
